Nice nice.. Anyone remembers Putin saying , the killing of Ukraine of its border guards in Crimea
will not be left without a response? Cool

    Guess what?

It pretty much Russia retaliated already.. lol

Apparently 3 Ukrainians border guards in marisnka check point in Donetsk ,where left partially
blind by Pro Russian rebels or Russian special forces.  This was apparently used again snipers
from the kiev side ,that were shooting at their positions. Nasty was the surprise of the banderita snipers ,when they were left almost totally blind for trying to snipe on pro Russian rebels.  Cool

So it was an elegant way to get rid of 3 banderitas from sniping the check point.  Smile
this will put them for sure permanently out of combat and with full of life too , to regret
the day ,they joined the fight.

    new headline... in ukraine today..
Russia tests prohibited laser weapons on #Ukraine soldiers – head of Border Guard Service ...

Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko reported the first cases when Russia used banned laser weapons against Ukrainian border guards.

"Earlier Russians tested their laser weapon on our soldiers. As a result, three servicemen of State Border Service received retinal burns. The situation is very serious, doctors were able to recover only peripheral vision, but they still do not have the central vision

from the comments about the lazer blind incident.

The anti sniper laser beams you are remonstrating about were automatically locked on "ukrainian" snipers' optical sights manufactured in US. Incidentally, the never identified snipers in "Kyiv" used exactly the same gear and were trained in Estonia. Hopefully, the professional killers in Washington who supplied the sights will get the message.

    http://uatoday.tv/crime/russia-tests-prohibited-laser-weapons-on-ukraine-s-soldiers-head-of-border-guard-service-726442.html

can anyone imagine that? No longer it will be safe to snipe.. lol1
you will get your retina burned if you look through optics at a powerful lazer.
This pretty much look at the kind of response Russia will do against Ukraine after
attacking their soldiers across border.  Something elegant ,very effective to neutralize
enemies out of combat and not expected. Very Happy

i can imagine the pro Russian rebels saying to the pro NATO mercenaries..
.Who is next? anybody else wants to snipe ? For sure the victims to blind were
carefully selected , in where it was believed a group of NATO mercenaries were
    sniping them. lol1

Any Russian speakers please help translating this about tactics in this war

    http://chervonec-001.livejournal.com/1509350.html

More or less what I imagined, troop density is very low so there are no continous lines of trenches nor a thick in depth defense. Just small platoon sized outposts and strongpoints, reliant on the arrival of reinforcements. That's why infiltration is possible and a breakthrough is easily achievable.

I imagine defenses in the Donetsk city sector are much stronger and denser, thinning out in quiet sectors. So a Ukranian breakthrough is possible, if, and that's a bit if, if they manage to arrange an artillery preparation and use tanks.

But it cuts both ways, Ukrop lines are just a thin defensive crust, with forces stretched and no reserves. One big push and the whole front crumbles.

Of course, again, positions around Avdeyevka opposite Donetsk may be stronger, and fortifications in Debaltsevo salient were strong, but then again, the Novorussian forces weren't as skilled then as now, and tanks were commited only sparingly.

Ukraine deploys it's S300 air defence systems to Kerson and Mykolaiv regions.

They look in pretty poor state from these pictures, seeing as they appear to have been left out to the elements by their fadedness and lack of fresh paint. Reminds me of when the Russians captured several Ukrainian S-300 in Crimea in 2014 and stated that they were completely inoperable.

Preliminary MH-17 criminal results date announced by the Dutch.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said this month he expected the international probe report to be published before the end of the year.

"We have informed victims' relatives that we will have a new meeting on September 28 where the results of the criminal investigation will be unveiled," OM spokesman Wim de Bruin told the AFP news service.

De Bruin specified the preliminary results would indicate “which weapon was used and from where it was fired.”

Putin and Medvedev both in Crimea so a marginal post for this thread but what does this appointment of an ex Russian Minister, so presumably a VIP, imply for relations with Ukraine?

Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed with the prime minister’s proposal to appoint Olga Vasilyeva to the post of Minister of Education and Science on Friday, assigning her predecessor the post of presidential envoy for trade and economic relations with Ukraine.

BELBEK AIRPORT (Sputnik) – Vasilyeva replaces Dmitry Livanov, whose resignation letter was accepted by Putin and who was appointed special presidential envoy for trade and economic ties with Ukraine.

"We will do so, I agree," Putin said at a working meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at Belbek Airport on arrival to Crimea.

Don't have much of an idea about Livanov going to work with the ukes but I'm sure it bodes no good for the orcs. Of as much import is The Boss and his second in command are both in this region. Our appointed 'governor', read mayor, was fired couple weeks back, the last time Medvedev was in town on a glorious Monday. Little problem with the roads amongst a twenty page laundry list of other odds and ends. cry There was dancing in the streets as Menyailo was kicked upstairs. He has been a two year unmitigated disaster, padding his nest with the likes of Lebedev, the former defense minister of orcland, and dozens of other orks. As a result the endemic corruption was not mitigated in the least and in some instances got worse.

Now, you have to understand that a posting to Sevastopol is a cherished billet, a plum eagerly sought by half the military and business in this country if not more. So not quite two weeks ago Menyailo was promoted to an extent.....and his promotion takes him to Siberia. As the saying goes, "Have you lost your mind? We're sending you to Siberia to see if you can find it." affraid The rumor going around is the local boys in the region he's being sent to, and I don't remember which one it is but it's not Arctic Circle (damn it), are waiting for him. Apparently our retired chair warming admiral is going to get an education.

Medals I don't know. Rank is senior sergeant, but I don't believe that is his real rank. It is not unknown that soldiers who do what he does to wear ranks and uniforms that may disguise their true position. I suspect his real rank is major or polkovnik as senior sergeants do not attend general staff meetings, but with ukrops anything is possible....

Most likely a case of a lower-ranked grunt who was willing to puts his nut on the line to be later promoted to a higher rank, but it backfired now that he was captured and identified as an attendee of Ukrappy General Staff meetings. Sycophancy at it's finest!

All the good (I use the term reservedly) stuff is back in Kiev for the show next week. This is all that's left, to coin a phrase its the walking wounded of gear.

Mind you, the guys in Kiev who look after the roads are screaming blue murder about all the tracks, that they were told would have road pads fitted but haven't, cutting up their roads. Bet they don't have the budget to fix them either.

Very good article with the background on the economic power that Russia has over Ukraine regarding the huge money flow back to Kiev from its 2.5+M workers in Russia. If it chooses to use it of course.

Post  JohninMK Mon Aug 22, 2016 2:41 pm

Looks like the amount of daily shelling along the front line has dropped dramatically. Basurin put it like this today

After the statement of the International Monetary Fund representative for Eastern Europe on ceasing a regular disbursement of a tranche to Ukraine, in connection with not implementing the Minsk Agreements by Kiev and with non-purpose money appropriated application used for waging the war in Donbass there was registered a sudden arrival of the “dove of peace” in the person of the OSCE Deputy Head Alexander Hug to the Republic and as a consequence, the decrease in the number of shellings on the part of AFU.

So of course its nothing to do with the last para of the following, from Interfax today.

The fully functioning launch of electronic declaration before September 1 would lift one of the obstacles on Ukraine's way to receive the third tranche of the IMF-funded Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program and would be grounds for receiving these funds in September, Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk has said. "If the system is fully launched from September 1, there would not be any problems. We could expect to get the tranche in September," he said in an interview with the Ekonomichna Pravda published on Monday. The minister said that the system must be fully launched before September 1. He recalled that under the IMF rules it requires at least two weeks to summon the meeting of the IMF directors.

Danyliuk said that there are other conditions for the provision of the third tranche, along with e-declaration. He declined to name them before the end of the negotiations.

He said that without the resumption of the IMF program Ukraine would fail to receive $1 billion of U.S. credit guarantees, EUR 1.2 billion of EU macro-financial support and credits to buy gas from European partners.

    Slightly different view from Sputnik

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On August 15, Kiev failed to meet the deadline of full launch of the online system aimed at the declaration of assets. The launch of the system is one of the requirements of Ukraine's international lenders to continue providing Kiev with economic aid.

"We are working with our international partners not on paper only, it means that we need real quality changes, but not dubious partial solutions. Electronic system is a key element of anti-corruption struggle. It is necessary to make this system work properly. It is crucial both for us and our international partners. Without this move, the disbursement of the third tranche is under the threat," Danyliuk said, as quoted by the Ekonomicheskaya Pravda newspaper. He added that without the IMF, Ukraine would not be able to receive economic support from either the United States or the European Union.

According to Danyliuk, Ukrainian authorities expect the system of electronic declaration to start working properly starting from September 1 to remove all the obstacles for the IMF tranche.

They must be absolutely desperate in Kiev to get this money released. It will fund their exit strategy.
