Agreed although it wouldn't surprise if if they tried, some of these Russian companies are so out of touch with reality it's both hilarious and pathetic

Remember the whole ''BMPT-3 will have a Russian name instead of Terminator-3 because western name led to bad sales'' fiasco?  

I think it was this very same company so even if we don't get a new plane at least we will get loads of laughs and memes  

They are making lots of noise and hinting directly at other countries, it looks just logic that they search development partners and will just show a concept, that would be already great news for us all aviation fans, not everyday a plane like this is born. In fact, a true "light" single engine 5G fighter would be groundbreaking, as opposed to the fatty penguin. Let's see if foreign countries are smart enough to grab the opportunity while it is cheap and full of advantages, unlike India with the FGFA

From the looks of it, an almost conventional layout, with trapezoid wing and combined keels and horizontal tail ala YF-23 or McDonnell JSF entry. Logical, if simplicity and low cost is the goal, and quite reasonable given the advantage of that layout for planes or relaxed stability.

The really burning question, what kind of weapon bays, if at all?

The United Aircraft Corporation, part of Rostec, will present a fundamentally new military aircraft on July 20 - on the first day of the MAKS-2021 International Aviation and Space Salon in Zhukovsky.

The countdown to the plane's premiere was activated on the project page today at midnight. The presentation of the novelty can be seen online on the YouTube channels of the Rostec State Corporation, the United Aircraft Corporation, as well as on the project page.

“Russia is one of the few countries in the world that has full-cycle technologies for the production of advanced aircraft systems, as well as a recognized“ trendsetter ”in the creation of combat aircraft. We are convinced that the new product developed by UAC specialists will arouse genuine interest not only in our country, but also in other regions of the world, including our competitors abroad, ”said a representative of Rostec.

Individual elements of the new machine can already be seen in the video posted on the project page at checkmate.uacrussia.ru. The video also contains allusions to the key features and unique properties of the project.

IMO, if they were able to keep it so under wraps like this until MAKS 21, something tells me that to go through all that effort should be for something that will blow everyone away.  let's hope that's the case.

It seems they look at the plane from its nose, the front landing gear door at the left below and the corner of the intake above on the right hand. The corner is not 90 deg so consistent with a low RCS ventral intake single engine plane along the lines of the model seen at Borisov's desk. The intake would have a substantial width compatible with the presence of a weapon bay further backwards. This is also consistent with the landing gear being as close to the intake lower lip as practically possible.

Is there a full pic of that model on Borisov's desk? I tried looking for it on Google Images but got nothing. If you or any of the other fellas have it, please post it. I'd like to get a good look at the whole thing instead of just the forward cockpit and intake cutoff.

Mig again lost a program they could have made like 20 years ago. This thing will take over mig-29M on the export market leaving mig-35 with no customer.

This thing is probably a good ten years away from serial production, and will likely go through a similar process to Sukhoi in that they will produce a MiG-35 (Su-35) based on previous same gen fighter with everything improved and maxed out as far as possible while the next gen design LMFS (Su57) is developed and constructed with new gen radar and systems being tested in upgraded MiG-35s while the new gen plane is perfected and improved and developed.

Has been entertaining seeing the Russians show America what the F-22 could have been with the Su-57, and their Su-35 vs the F-15EX, so it will be amusing to see MiG get back to single engined fighters again, though I wonder if the Russian AF has signed off on this at all or if they are at MAKS looking for funding.

Amusing certain members calling the MiG-29 ancient when the Su-35 is just as old... and the F-15 even older... apparently the new kids on the block are as shit as the band named after them so the old buggers have to keep going a bit longer.

One thing is for certain - even if the fighter looks like something in the picture below - if it's competing against the F-35, it will be christened as the F-35ski in the West.

The F-35 is a complete sack of potatoes so maybe Mig's marketing includes the US and NATO as well?

A nice downgraded one would probably still be a good replacement.

Of course not, but there are a lot of speculations. Maybe in one week we see the rest of the plane and maybe it is indeed what we saw at the desk, by now at least is compatible...

The most interesting thing is whether it will be a model or a flying prototype?

It has been mentioned somewhere that a model would serve no purpose. A life size mock-up is a possibility but with all the PR I think it will be a flier.

Exactly. It would not be strange to have a mockup, a part of which was showed in the teaser as analysed above. It makes no sense that it is a flying prototype, that will take like 5 years min from now.

LTS can mean Light Tactical Aircraft, so maybe it is, but other leaks are saying it is a MiG. Are they already fighting before even getting started?

LTS might be PAK Sha replacement for the Su-25 in CAS role... I seriously hope they don't do something stupid like combine the programmes...
