it seems these 2 Su-35Ss are previous built and they simply transferred there these days.

From the Komsomolsk Regiment, when if their claim that the order was completed if true, there are 12 unassigned aircraft out there. Possibility is that some of the earliest completed aircraft need retrofitting.

Well well well. Looks like i am eating my words re Su-35S and Syria. Appears 4 of them are being deployed to Syria;
http://scalemodels.ru/modules/forum/viewtopic_p_1221403.html#1221403
Shocking turn of events tbh. These frames are 2015 production and were handed over in October so they are as new as it comes more or less.

What would be a reliable way of checking whether or not those birds are flying in Syrian air space? Geo-tagging through EXIF perhaps?

Don't worry man, you still good, it's still 4 hand picked 35's and it looks more like a massive ad flight than anything else.

They just want to see how operating cycles go and whats the availability rates and stuff like that in field. Those 4 are just lab rats

Re: Su-35S: News
Nice to see, that they all have wingtip ECM pods. I hope they will equip all Su-30SM in Syria with them too. We will see, if they will be armed with R-77-1 missiles as they have AKU-170 adapters.

Nice to see the R-77-1 being confirmed in service (not to mention the Su-35 armed to the teeth).

I wish to see SU-35 hunting, and downing F-22. But courageous US decided to stop any US bombings, after Russia built up S-400, increase the SU-30 SM number. US seem to realize that they are not immunized against Russia's hardware. What a pity! I wished to see some F-22's wreckages on syrian's ground.

I would prefer to see some Typhoon's wreckages on Syrian's ground. I hate them. They always think that they are a great nation like US, China or Russia.

Well, it depends how you count it but no, these are 47'th and 48'th serial frames and thus are completing the first contract. (they are red 21 and 22)

Re: Su-35S: News
So this mean they equip 1 full squadron of Su-35S in Vladivostok. One squadron more and the second Su-35 regiment will be created.

Re: Su-35S: News
Didnt Russia order an aditional 50? If so, 10 sounds off, no? Or did they reduce production to also meet a Chinese and potential other customer demand?

We never got real confirmation on that new order of 50 tho. But it might be the case that 10 will be delivered per year 2016, 17, 18, 19, 20... 5x10. Just a wild guess.

Re: Su-35S: News
Makes sense. The 10 they get this year would be dead giveaway since first contract is complete.Militarov wrote:sepheronx wrote:Didnt Russia order an aditional 50? If so, 10 sounds off, no? Or did they reduce production to also meet a Chinese and potential other customer demand?

Yes. These 10 will be the first Su-35S that will be delivered in 2016 of that order (because we still wait the first order to be concluded)

And you expected them to get all 50 in 2016? Of course it is 10 per year.

Re: Su-35S: News
Might I suggest rereading what I said? Never said that all 50 this year, quote me where I said that. I figured though they could pump out a little more than 10. But then I figured they will opt for other customers as well.Berkut wrote:sepheronx wrote:Didnt Russia order an aditional 50? If so, 10 sounds off, no? So yeah...
