He really wanted to disarm them - but it was him or them

And now I see in Kharkov , Z has advanced, seems like there's intense combat all along the front from Kremennaya down to Ugledar

No, by positive reinforcement. Offer them a way out through a Wagner contract - with all the unhealthy consequences that come with desertion etc. - and it might help them getting a fresh start. Wild animals sometimes get stuck in traps, unless you want to eat them, you try to free them.

Maidan regime is a puppet regime installed by the Western powers, which means there is no democracy in it. If you go against the "free world ideology", then the Maidan regime will silence you either by the Azov thugs, or by everything else.

The Maidan regime is extremely unpopular in Ukraine, the people probably realize that the Maidan is not as good as they promised back then. But they cannot do anything as power is not in their hand.

Very ugly video. He killed them when they stoped fighting. It was a scary situation. The guy on the left wasn't even armed and they both looked like civilians and not trained military guys. He shouldn't have shot them. Very sad to watch.

He shouldn't have, but he was clearly half-panicked and in an adrenaline rush, and the soldier on the right kept holding on to his rifle. He must have in the heat of the moment considered that they hadn't clocked on yet that he was a Russian, but that they could realize it and try and shoot him at a moment's notice.

I wonder why they thought that. Was he not clearly identified and with a white arm band?

This should be investigated, but if it turns out he was in proper uniform/identification then he did nothing wrong ultimately. He demanded them to surrender but they wouldn't let go of their weapons.

- Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov appointed Commander of the Joint Group of Forces;

- General Surovikin, Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces General Salyukov and Deputy Chief of the General Staff Colonel General Kim were appointed Gerasimov's deputies;

Neither the military nor political leadership can let this happen - several reasons

Russian mainland has already been hit, meaning if NATO goes in, and they have been willing to hit Russia, that they would use nuclear weapons as well and have no hesitation to use them

For this reason, even though a major offensive is not preferable, it will become so out of necessity

NATO cannot be allowed to have a base so close to Russia which is as hostile as Ukraine is

If they go in for western Ukraine, it's one thing, but allowing them on the right bank of Dnieper will be a bad mistake

What does that mean

First - the negative one: Valery Gerasimov trying to take the credit for Surovikin accomplishments now that things are moving in the proper direction.

or

Second - the positive one: Given the mention of the deputy status, which - not sure if this is how this work in Russian army regulation - the deputies now have the mandate to direct and decide on behalf of Valery Gerasimov allowing for faster decision making with less bureaucracy and process. Valery Gerasimov is only assigned the senior role to have someone kept ultimately accountable. This would reflect the shorter lines mentioned.

Perhaps because there will be multiple fronts. Future north front, South, and East is ongoing. Each of the fronts is assigned a deputy. This allows each person to be more involved on a tactical and maybe even operational level. Which is not possible if you have to oversee multiple fronts, then you can only manage strategically.

And he relied on the geran 2, Kalibr aerial assaults

He de-electrified Ukraine and hindered Ukraine from reinforcing Soledar and Bakhmut

But now Gerasimov, a graduate of the Tankers Academy, and who led the SMO in February

Will oversee the new operation

And he won't be limited by politicians - they have already suffered the political consequences of having short sightedness and goodwill with "brotherly people"

The time for advance trust in the West is over.

We now know that the West would gradually have gripped far reaching weapons before the war. Also very modern stuff. All of this has been confirmed and much more.

Those are not good tanks and never have been actually.
Significantly underpowered, and very heavy at the same time. What is suicidal combo in the European theatre.
The gun is archaic.
Same for the ammo.

De facto Leo2s are much another story, as there is a waste experience the operators of similar climate conditions can share.
But what is more important, Euro countries can share tons of spares for them - and that makes a whole difference.

Yet what we see now is not even a tank zoo. It is a recipe for a disaster.

At the moment, we talk about a country balancing in the edge of destruction. With shattered to pieces logistics and sodomized on the battlefield.

This country, at the moment, is using :
100 mm cal
115 mm cal
125 mm cal
All of the Soviet stocks.
Plus 105 mm cal for L7 they get from Slovenia.
Plus incoming FEW PCS of 120 rifled L11 that needs another chain of ammo supply
Plus incoming FEW PCS of Rh120 that needs another chain of ammo supply

This would be a disaster for an army with functioning logistics, warehouses and chain of deliveries.

For Ukr, this is like burning the assets, nothing more.

And to put the things into perspective : this is another shitty story of the new Wunderwaffe to be delivered.
20 pcs of tanks to a country that had about 3000 of those a year ago.
And another 8 NASAM launchers to a country that used to have +/- 400 pcs of more potent SAM systems a year ago, too.

Thos is not even funny anymore, as there is a human misery, blood and death behind this circus.

Come on. He yelled "drop your weapons!" multiple times, and in the confusion, with heavy fire permeating the air, after the numpteenth time trying to get them to unequivocally surrender, he really had to get moving to find cover and decided that "enough of this", and killed them.

I don't see anything controversial in this. It is war, and to be sure, similar scenes happen all the time, every day.

What surprised me is that in this particular clip the Russian soldier so obviously put himself in harms way to try to talk sense into them. Admirable, but frankly quite stupid. It's a wonder he ended up alive. That old Ukrainian man points his rifle straight at him, too.

U.S. cops sometimes kill actually unarmed people on a whim, without having constant streams of bullets flying overhead etc. Sometimes that is excused because of other circumstances.

Well, if "other circumstances" were ever a thing, it's here.

NATO WILL GET INVOLVED it's not a matter if they will or not. Sweden and all post-soviet block countries were to acquire nuclear weapons prior to the war to move them closer to Russia. If Russia seizes Ukraine, the 1st thing I would do as a head KGB intelligence director is start building giant ground radars all over Ukraine to make it part of the A-235 system as my 1st defense and 2nd defense having the A-235 and ground radars in Russia. Meaning I get to monitor and track nuclear weapons flying off in the launch, boost and midcourse phase from NATO countries. If Ukraine was not a part of Russia than nuclear weapons would be drawn closer to Russia while Russia would be a little further away from post-soviet bloc countries probably only tracking their nuclear weapons in the midcourse range because of radar horizon. If Russia seizes Ukraine it will result in the complete collapse of the NWO containing Russia.
