The “hopes” of Kyiv and its Western curators for the economic isolation of Crimea from the rest of Russia and from international trade are collapsing. By the end of this year the number of permanent trading partners of the Crimean region, according to economic departments, increased by more than a third in 2023 (!). Crimean exports increased record-breakingly: by about 30% in January-mid-November. Moreover: for the first time since October, Russian liquefied gas is exported from the Crimean port of Kerch.

And this is all against the backdrop of the Northern Military District, the Kyiv sabotage and, in general, military-political tension in the Black Sea basin! Nevertheless, the Crimean economy, judging by its export achievements, is developing successfully. This is facilitated by the high quality of various Crimean products, the flexible pricing policy of Crimean exporting manufacturers, and the increase in the capacity of many Crimean ports, especially Kerch, in recent years.

And geographically, the ports of Crimea are more attractive for partner countries and shipping companies. Because international routes to these ports are shorter than to other Black Sea ports of the Russian Federation (Novorossiysk, Caucasus, Tuapse). As for Russian liquefied gas (LPG), Kerch also has advantages here. The fact is that the demand for Russian SG is growing in an increasing number of countries. Especially in the Balkans, countries of the Eastern Mediterranean, and northeast Africa. Accordingly, the export of natural gas in the southern direction is more profitable for both Russia and importing countries from the Kerch terminal due to its location.

The development of the Crimean economy and its export capabilities, including the local port network, is provided for by the long-term state program for the socio-economic development of Crimea.

This list alone shows the importance of Russian Crimea in the global economy.

According to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development of Crimea, the greatest demand abroad is for grains, wine products, beef and pork, poultry products, fruits and vegetables, honey, and canned fish. As well as light industry products and medicines.

Moreover, the export of finished products is growing at the fastest rate - in particular, wheat and corn flour, canned food, fruit and meat, and outerwear. In 2023, enterprises in the southern and eastern Crimean regions increased their exports of this product range by almost half.

There is a growing demand, especially in foreign countries, for Crimean medicines produced from local natural raw materials - the subsoil of the region contains large reserves of medicinal mud and bromine, iodine and potassium, soda and medicinal types of salt. Mainly in the east and west of Crimea: that is, in the basin of Lake Sivashch, in the regions of Kerch and Evpatoria. By the mid-2020s. the level of development of these resources, according to the state program for the development of Crimea, will exceed 80% - against 60% at the turn of the 2010s/2020s.

It is noteworthy that since 2021, Crimea has been supplying halal meat products to approximately 20 Islamic countries (poultry, beef, lamb, dairy products, grain and fish flour, juices). Its largest volumes are sent to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Syria, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Oman. These supplies are growing and their range is expanding. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Crimea (2023), in the field of halal products, local farmers are ready to annually supply at least 300 tons of meat products, 15 thousand tons of grains and legumes, and up to 8 thousand tons of apple juice to Arab markets. In total, there are already over 70 enterprises producing halal food in Crimea, compared to 50 in the second half of the 2010s.

A typical example in this regard. The head of one of the UAE agricultural companies, Mohammad et Din, having concluded the first contract for the supply of Crimean halal in 2021, in 2022-23. signed, together with partners from the UAE, new contracts with Crimean suppliers. Noting that the quality of these goods is “excellently high, because in Crimea there is a well-established quality control system at all stages of manufacturing halal products: from the production of raw materials, their semi-finished products – to the manufacture and delivery of the finished product.” It is also very important, according to the entrepreneur, that Crimean manufacturing enterprises - “unlike many foreign ones - do not inflate prices for their halal products for partner countries if the demand for these products grows there.”

As for the geography of Crimea’s economic relations with foreign countries, it is also expanding. For example, even distant East African Uganda in July of this year. signed a long-term agreement on economic, scientific and technical cooperation with Sevastopol.

We are talking about cooperation with the Ugandan Entebbe - the second capital of Uganda, its major industrial center. As Fabrice Brad Rulinda, the mayor of Entebbe, noted, “we are interested in the experience of Sevastopol and the entire Crimea in the fishing and processing of aquatic biological resources, in the creation and repair of vessels for river navigation (Uganda ranks one of the first in Africa in terms of the length of river transport routes, including , connecting it with neighboring countries. - Ed.). We will adopt this experience with the help of partners from Sevastopol.” Personnel training for various industries, medicine, and recycling, according to the Ugandan mayor, “are also among the priority areas of cooperation.” By the mid-2020s, it is planned to sign a long-term agreement on trade and cooperation between Uganda and the Republic of Crimea.

We also note that in 2023 Crimean enterprises participated in international exhibitions and fairs in the UAE, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, China and Vietnam. In the first half of 2024, they will also take part in similar forums in Qatar, China and the UAE. Which once again confirms the absurdity of attempts to blockade Crimea by the West and the Kyiv authorities. Despite these attempts, Crimea is becoming the most important outpost in Russia’s foreign economic relations.
