On the news report the Russian official actually stated that the response would not just be against German media in Russia, but also the international orgs that assisted them in stopping Russian news being read in Germany.

I would expect that would mean all German media in Russia and of course Youtube and probably facebook and or twitter... depending on which sites assisted or complied with this ban.

The core problem with the west has always been the doctrine of the enemy of my enemy is my friend, which of course means as long as they think Russia is their biggest enemy... it certainly has the most nukes and means to deliver them in a way to wipe out the west like Nazis or ISIS ever could... they they will cooperate and aide all sorts of groups who individually are actually bad... unlike Russia, which simply wont follow Washingtons orders.

Being a video gamer is a plus today in Americas military because we are inventing a lot of high tech weapons where you can safely sit in a bunker and remotely control a robot that has the ability to kill mass groups of people.

Those videos show how we are quickly jumping into remote warfare where human lives are safe while robots go out and do the killing.

We have missiles now that an operator can guide using a joystick so he can run that missile up your rear if he decides too and you will never see him because he is watching you on a camera while he safely sits miles away.

I have seen adds where the US military is begging for gamers or people with computer and robotic experience because the future is going to be wars fought with remote controlled machines.

The countries you mention might have "men" but those men can quickly die from some young kid with a joystick and a computer controlling a hidden robot those men never see until it is too late.

All of those "men" in the Russian military stuck in that convoy could have been totally erased from this earth in a few minutes by some kid controlling a drone armed with guns and missiles and chances are they would have never seen it coming.

It is easy to spot human troops firing on you due to the noise they make but a drone high in the air that makes zero noise is not easy to locate, that drone can fire a volley on you from the west then quickly move to the east and fire another volley so while you are trying to locate it your troops are getting mowed down in big numbers.

If you do find it oh well congratulations you killed an unmanned drone so that kid just launches another one and goes after you again. He loses hardware while you lose human lives.

Humans under fire develop fear which hinders judgement while that robot knows no fear.

We also have remote planes in research right now that have some amazing abilities along with the ability to fly and fight totally controlled by AI so no human input needed. The AI is smart enough to locate a threat, zero in on that threat and eliminate that threat without ever being detected and if it does get detected it has a shield that is bullet and explosion proof.

All of this high tech machinery is going to need those video gamers to operate it to its full potential. I have even seen stories on the US military encouraging their soldiers to play military games like Call of Duty or Modern Warfare to sharpen their hand / eye coordination and their combat tactics. A lot of military bases have computers setup with those games installed so the soldiers can play in their free time.

Ukraine is using some of those high tech weapons and even though they are much smaller than Russia they are giving Russia a lot of dead soldiers and stopping them from advancing quickly. Now imagine those weapons in the hands of an actual combat trained soldier and not some civilian who volunteered to fight.

Honestly all the news coming out of Ukraine is not helping promote the Russian military as some highly trained fighting force like Putin claimed. It is actually making them look pretty foolish and uncoordinated.

If these stories are true then nukes are the only threat saving Russia from being invaded and Putin being removed.

The idea you can use remote controlled robots in a peer vs peer conflict is kind of nonsense. Communications will get jammed.
The only way it will work is to put AI into the robots so they can do the mission autonomously once they go in the enemy controlled area.
But this means you basically abdicate from a human's responsibility to pull the trigger. Assuming the AI would even work properly in the first place.

It might work for aviation but for ground operations I think it is overly optimistic to assume current technology is there yet.

Aren't they a little confused... they talk about gamers, and then they talk about AI.... do they understand that AI replaces gamers?

When you play a flight simulator and there are no other human opponents... just bots... then what you are doing is playing AI enemies... the question I would ask is why waste time hiring gamers to "fly" your robots when AI turned up to full power would clean all the gamers from the skies in seconds...

The US thinks it is winning the high tech war but the only thing it is winning is how much taxpayers money can we waste... a Javelin ATGM costs more than 100 Metis ATGMs... it has similar range and less penetration and against a well equipped enemy both are command to line of sight missiles... and the Metis can be fitted with thermal sights and is still much much cheaper because it only uses thermals for the launcher, while the American missile system has thermal imagers in each and every missile making them all very expensive... for no advantage at all really.

Most tests I have seen the target has to be artificially heated to get a lock which means most times in combat you need to fire it in command to line of sight mode like much much cheaper other missiles use.

Ai controlled swarms of drones require affordable base drones which need to be mass produced in enormous numbers to be effective... the west can't do that... but China and Russia could... but then their normal drones and cruise missiles and supersonic and hypersonic missiles are already effective against western nonexistent air defences... they don't even need to bother, but I suspect they will just so they can adapt their formidable air defences to deal with that too.
