All four of those ships are now into the Black Sea.
Meanwhile it looks like a deal is done on the protection of the 'Iran Express' where oil and other supply ships will be protected in a convoy by Iranian Navy ships all the was up the Red Sea to the Suez Canal and then when they reach the Med by the Russian Navy. By implication this has already happened with the tankers that arrived last week.

An operations room (Russian, Iranian, Syrian) aimed at securing a safe and stable flow of oil supplies, wheat and some other materials to Syrian supplies on the Mediterranean.
Meanwhile it looks like a deal is done on the protection of the 'Iran Express' where oil and other supply ships will be protected in a convoy by Iranian Navy ships all the was up the Red Sea to the Suez Canal and then when they reach the Med by the Russian Navy. By implication this has already happened with the tankers that arrived last week.

Could be her first Syrian Express trip. She is certainly running lower in the water than any others I can remember. No doubt a big load onboard.

Almost the whole Mediterranean, Libya and much more is within reach. Only MIG-31BM are missing as accompanying protection.

Operating them locally means they can carry external bombs in much greater numbers than previously carried so they can either hit targets harder or hit more targets per flight.
It should also mean they will be able to carry heavier individual weapons too perhaps.

That's a detachment of three. Coverage all the way to Gibraltar, one of NATOs worst dreams, vulnerability on their southern flank. This will drive up their costs as they try to respond to it. Next come the Tu-142M to really pile on the pressure.
Today's Russia is not responding to threats like the old Russia.

Tu-22M3 has a hi-hi-hi combat radius of 4,000 km with a payload of three Kh-22M/AS-4 missiles.
Here is what that combat radius looks like from Khmeimim Air Base in Syria. They would have more access to the Mediterranean and Africa.
Today's Russia is not responding to threats like the old Russia.

The RuAF seems to make regular visits to these graduation ceremonies. A real 'gatecrasher'.

A joint exercise of the Russian Navy and the Russian Aerospace Forces is taking place in the Mediterranean
During the joint exercise of the forces of the permanent task force of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea and the aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, which has been taking place since June 25 in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, a pair of MiG-31K aircraft and an Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft were flown from Russian airfields to the Russian Hmeimim air base in the Syrian Arab Republic.
Currently, the crews of the MiG-31K have begun to perform tasks for the development of the airspace of the region. The latest hypersonic missiles from the Kinzhal complex can be used on these aircraft.
Also, long-range Tu-22M3 bombers made training flights over the Mediterranean Sea. "The pilots of the aircraft received practical skills to perform tasks in new geographical areas. Tasks were performed to destroy a conditional enemy. The tasks are completed with high quality. Aviation equipment has once again confirmed its high reliability. The flight crew has gained invaluable experience, " said Lieutenant General Sergei Kobylash, Commander of the long-range aviation.
Basing of this type of aircraft at the Khmeimim airfield is carried out for the first time. This became possible as a result of the reconstruction of the second runway with a complete replacement of the coating and the installation of new lighting and radio equipment.
During the training flights, aviation equipment and equipment will be tested in difficult climatic conditions, and aircraft crews will acquire practical skills to work out training tasks in new geographical areas.
As part of the joint exercise, the air defense calculations of the ships of the permanent task force of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea, in turn, took part in training to repel enemy air attacks. According to the operational situation, the enemy aircraft received data on the location of the frigate at sea and headed for the target in order to carry out an air strike with guided missiles. The enemy with the specified characteristics was simulated electronically by the ship's weapons control system.
During the training, the ship's calculations of combat information posts detected and classified the target, and the air defense calculations when the conditional aircraft approached the target range destroyed it with electronic launches of anti-aircraft missiles, thereby preventing a missile strike on the ships.
According to the plan of the exercise, five ships of the Russian Navy (including the missile cruiser "Moscow", the frigates "Admiral Essen" and "Admiral Makarov"), as well as two submarines "Stary Oskol" and "Rostov-on-Don" together with anti-submarine aircraft Tu-142MK, Il-38, long-range bombers Tu-22M3 and MiG-31K aircraft will perform combat training tasks to ensure the security of the Khmeimim air base and the logistics point of the Russian Navy Tartus.

MiG-31K with X-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles in Syria, as well as Tu-22M3 and Su-35S, which were additionally transferred to Syria for exercises in response to the aggressive actions of the UK.
