that is a republication of a picture of a tank they destroyed a long time ago. best clue is the fact that the ISIS logo for "wilayat al anbar" has changed.

ISIS seems to have captured 1 Type 69 which is workable.
    they destroyed: 1x Abrams, 3x Type 69, 3x T72, 2x M198, 1x GRAD, plus a few trucks, humvees M113s...

New information. The army units in Ramadi has no Kornet-E ATGW with them either, this means no effective counter measures against all those suicide bombings.

Fall of Ramadi: 30 Car Bombs, 10 as Big as Oklahoma City Blast, US Official Says

US State department wrote:The State Department is sharing new details about the deadly fighting in Ramadi, Iraq, last Sunday, saying the city fell into ISIS hands after the militant group set off 30 suicide car bombs in the city center, 10 of which each were comparable in power to the Oklahoma City truck bomb of 1995.

The explosions took out “entire city blocks,” said a senior State Department official who spoke to reporters at the State Department Wednesday on condition that he not be named. The vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices, or VBIEDs, were able to gain access to the city center after an armored bulldozer plowed through T-wall barricades lining the city's critical government buildings, the official said, adding that the same bulldozer was later used as a power VBIED, itself.

Soon after the bombs went off, the Iraqis deployed a reinforcing column into the city center, but they were forced to retreat after coming under heavy enemy fire, the official said. That retreat led to a larger exodus of Iraqi security forces and the civilian populations, leaving the streets looking “barren,” according to this official.

Iraq to Build National Guard-Style Force to Fight ISIL – US State Dep't

Iraqi authorities are planning to build a national guard-style force to fight against the Islamic State, a senior US State Department official said.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Sunday, following days of heavy fighting against Iraqi government forces, ISIL took control of Ramadi, some 70 miles from Baghdad. Hundreds of Iraqi servicemen were killed and many more fled the city.

"The tribal mobilization… is designed to collect what will be the foundation of a national guard. So the Iraqis have already allocated resources, and there's a list of weapons that are approved for about 8,000 of the tribal fighters in Anbar," the official told reporters on Wednesday.

The process of building a national guard-style force will take a certain amount of time, but the Iraqi authorities are already moving forward with that, according to the official.

Iraq was also expected to recall some 24,000 police officers who had abandoned their posts, the official said.

The Islamic State is a Sunni jihadist group that is currently in control of vast territories in Iraq and Syria, where it proclaimed a caliphate. The militant group is notorious for numerous human rights atrocities including mass killings and beheadings of foreign hostages posted online.

This RPG warhead looks like either Chinese production Type 3 or a Yasin like warhead (Hamas homemade).

    http://nazarian.no/wep.asp?id=741

Looking at the location of fireball from the RPG that hit inside of the spare roadwheel (that is always mounted between 4 and 5th rib of the storage cage, the roadwheel mounting is always at the rear and end of the turret bustle where the ammunition bustle ends.

    IRAQ - Fight on Islamic State: News #1 - Page 21 Vq7zg3mo

Judging the tiny fireball of the warhead it is comparable to less than 300mm RHAe penetration, the angle also seams about 30-40° so it wasn't even able to get into the ammunition bustle it was about 10-20cm to high aimed, but the shooter knew where to aim to crack the Abrams.

The other RPG is either chinese produced or a smiliar system of RPG-18 or even a M72A4+ version with 150-300mm RHAe penetration so absolutley no chance penetrating the tank anywhere else but very weak zones or the hull sides or ammunition bustle or from behind/top.

Judging by the agle of the trajectory to the angle of armor and location of hit the should look like this.

    IRAQ - Fight on Islamic State: News #1 - Page 21 Sukpj6m2
IRAQ - Fight on Islamic State: News #1 - Page 21 Xcsyborm

The penetrator how weak it was and by the angled trajectory at the location where the warhead hit it was impossible to ignite the ammunition, however a good shooter seams to know where to hit a tank to take it out of service.

This tank was destroyed a long time ago. The video above is of the same one. Isis reposted old pictures passing them off as new items.

Yeah... of course what Iraq needs is some half trained weekend warriors called National Guard to solve their ISIS problem...

Sounds like what they really want is conscription where local men are trained to fight and armed to fight for Iraq.

Personally I think you need fully trained soldiers with real and full air and artillery support to do the job... and assistance from countries like Iran and Russia should be used as much as possible.

They will use them ASAP as air strikes could destroy them.

And they just did saying they destroyed a tank, don't know what tank it is. Looks like T-62

Friggin' disaster, what the hell is Iraq doing keeping these weapons where the enemy can access them? And they're in storage to boot, they haven't been used by the Iraqis themselves.

The Kornet-Es are hardly needed against ISIS; just evacuate them to the rear.

For use against their armored suicide trucks, except considering the many mistakes done by soldiers and leadership sometimes this happens.

If they decide to leave the stuff they must make sure to disable the equipment.

what warheads do those missiles have anyway? if its thermobaric warhead tanks have little to fear. actually what business does HEAT warheads have there anyway? for most da'esh craphat targets they are properly serviced with a thermobaric round- that should be fitting welcome gift to the fires of hell

3/4 Kornets is nothing. Sure they are potent weapons for this kind of environment, but the Mujis might have at least as much luck obtaining those weapons through Officer scumbags pulling an Al Grachev Mirsidisi on their own guys. War is a biz as well. So yeah, no bueno, but hardly a "disaster". Had they gotten a whole complement (100 rounds and the 25 launchers that usually go with those) then yeah SHWHTF.

In nearby Al Muthanna Depot yesterday Kornets destroyed 8! heavily armoured VBIEDs.. they were worth their weight in gold then.

The circumstances in which the 4 missiles were lost are not clear yet... it seems they were with a small squad in a forward position that was attacked and wiped out completely by ISIS.

Reports that Saudi jets violated Iraqi airspace in the desert recently using the cover of being part of the anti ISIL coalition.

    Article about it
    http://www.veteranstoday.com/2015/06/05/saudi-air-attacks-on-iraq-begin/

Now this should be taken serious by the Iraqi gov seeing what they're doing to Yemen. It is very unlikely they will be able to do anything as long as we have US and European air forces active above Iraq, but when they leave we're on our own again. Long range air defences and fighter jets from Russia should be thought about as it takes years before they become operational.

SU-30's ( most probable ), radars and some long range air defense should be thought about, a deterrent is important here.

The KSA pieces of sh*t clearly stated that they want to pull a Yemen against Iraq too. If that will happen, i really hope you guys waste as many of those saudi mother*** as you can, at least Iran can funnel weapons in unlike Yemen. Probably iraqi troops, regular or not are among the most battle hardened in ME, regardless of any setbacks.

But yeah, i said many times before that the US and their stooges does not want Iraq to defeat ISIS and wants to keep the war going as long as possible. I'm also reading the americans apparently are blocking iraqi funds to buy weapons from Russia (why are iraqi funds in US banks anyway? was Iraq forced to do so?). Plus reading about ongoing internal sabotage - see the unpaid air force personnel in Jordan, apparently because  a kurdish member of government ordered it.

I honestly don't know what is the way out of this vicious circle...

The problem is they will not send any ground troops in Iraq if they decide to attack us, they will employ their F-15s and Eurofighter typhoons, and we can only stop that with air defenses and jets. It's unlikely this will happen anytime soon but it certainly means preparing a capable air deterrence is not a luxury anymore, it's necessity.

As for the technicians in Jordan, MoD article denied it and it's unlikely to happen even if he tries to sabotage. But yes we have many sabotaging animals in gov.

Su-30MKI would be ideal as India has plenty of experience and know how on it and they seem to love it. But that won't be enough. Low/me/high altitude radar as well as air defense systems would be needed to compliment the Su-30's to be most effective as the communication between the three is where it is important. None of this is cheap and may be out of Iraq's reach ATM.

Question: do you guys still have MiG-25's?

Every intact aircraft that were captured in the 2003 invasion have been either vandalized by american occupation troops, sent to US and/or melted. Iraq could have had a decent size air force just by refurbishing and overhauling those surviving aircraft (a few MiG-25 also survived, plus perhaps a half a dozen to a dozen each of Mirages, Su-22, Su-25, MiG-23, MiG-21, L-39, couple dozen helicopters of various types etc.) if they wouldn't have been destroyed by the americans (obviously one of the reasons being to force the iraqis to spend billions on american monkey model junk like F-16).

Hmm. Those Su-22's would be ideal for strike missions against isil while the MiG-25's would be ideal against Saudi air force if overhauled with new radar, ecm\ew equipment supported by ground assets like radar and alike.

I do feel sorry for Iraq's current state
