Naval aviation of the Russian Navy will be reinforced with the S-70 Okhotnik heavy attack UAV

    10.01.2024, 16:02

Naval assault and fighter aircraft are an important component of the country's military power. It is planned to increase its combat capabilities both by upgrading the existing fleet of aircraft and helicopters, and by adopting modern Pacer and S-70 Okhotnik unmanned strike systems. About this in an interview with the newspaper "Krasnaya Zvezda" I told you Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.

According to him, in modern conditions, the main directions of development of naval aviation are the quantitative increase in the combat strength of naval aviation of the Navy and the expansion of the combat capabilities of existing aircraft due to their modernization, as well as re-equipment with modern aviation complexes.

"Special attention is paid to the development of unmanned aircraft. It is planned to put into service modern unmanned systems "Pacer", "Hunter", " – said the commander-in-chief of the Navy.

Nikolay Evmenov noted that the existing fleet of Tu-142MZ, Il-38 and Ka-27 and Ka-31R helicopters will be upgraded to improve their combat capabilities, and it is also planned to create promising anti-submarine aircraft complexes. "The development of naval assault and fighter aircraft is ensured by re – equipping with modern 4++ generation aircraft systems-Su-30SM2 multifunctional fighters and Ka – 52K ship attack helicopters, as well as creating promising ship-based fighter aircraft complexes," Nikolai Evmenov added.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexey Krivoruchko said that the S-70 Okhotnik strike heavy UAV is a highly intelligent system capable of solving a wide range of tasks singly, in groups and together with manned aircraft. The UAV developed in the Sukhoi Design Bureau is made according to the "flying wing" scheme using technologies to reduce the effective scattering area, which reduces its radar visibility. To reduce visibility in the infrared range of waves, the Okhotnik will be equipped with a flat nozzle.

According to open sources, the take-off weight of the device is up to 20 tons, the maximum flight speed is about 1,000 km/h. Serial deliveries of UAVs are planned to begin in 2024. "Okhotnik" first took off on August 3, 2019, the flight lasted more than 20 minutes under the control of the operator. On September 27, 2019, the UAV performed a flight together with the Su-57 fighter.
