i am just curious because it seems microwave weapons are being used to destroy incoming air to air missiles than minauture missile self defense because those missiles just blew up, I am curious as to what aerial EW system did that which they have advertised and i think its the one on the middle in that picture.

Re: Russian Electronic Warfare Systems
No such weapon was used.
Air defence missiles fly very fast. For such an airborne system to find the missile, and burn it with micro waves it is impossible.
Radar are sending strong signals and they can at best burn your testicules if you are in front of the plane on the ground.
EW just jamm the frequency to create fake targets or make impossible to determine the range by adding signals to saturate the doppler effect. But burning a missile with microwaves is still impossible.

Re: Russian Electronic Warfare Systems
I would guess it interferes in the missiles proximity fuse... making the missile think it is closer to the target plane than it actually is and exploding early.
Various anti artillery systems do the same to make their proximity fuses detonate the rockets and shells too high up in the air to do damage.
Or it might just break lock and cause the missiles to self destruct.
The R-73 missiles they use have a laser proximity fuse, the sidewinders from that F-15 probably a radio fuse.

Modern missiles have laser fuzes. Unjammable.

Leer-3 complex
20.10.2022
TASS
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation use complexes in the SMO capable of jamming the phones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine within a radius of up to 30 km

The system can not only interfere, but also send SMS, the defense department added.
MOSCOW, 19 October. /TASS/. Russian military personnel use the Leer-3 complex, which helps to jam communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine within a radius of up to 30 km for tens of hours. This was reported on Wednesday to journalists in the Russian Defense Ministry.
The Leer-3 complex suppresses GSM communications with the help of interference transmitted by the Orlan-10 drone with special radio signal transmitters. Such equipment blocks the operation of any devices in certain ranges, while completely cellular networks are not blocked.
"The complex can jam the phones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine within a radius of up to 30 kilometers, while the drone is in the sky, for tens of hours. More than enough for our units to approach the specified area," the department noted, adding that the complex can suppress about two thousand subscribers at once.
The system can not only interfere, but also send SMS. "The goals of mass mailings are different. In addition to psychological pressure on the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is often necessary to alert civilians in Ukraine," the Russian Defense Ministry explained.
However, the main task for the Leer-3 complexes is to detect a mass concentration of cellular subscribers in forests, along riverbeds, in village sheds and other uncharacteristic places for this. "The coordinates of such clusters are immediately transmitted to the headquarters for further decisions," the defense department concluded.

Rostec presented a long-range complex to combat a swarm of drones
March 16, 2023
Ruselectronics holding of the Rostec State Corporation has completed the development of an anti-drone system capable of suppressing drone control at a distance of up to 5 km. The equipment allows you to “jam” several channels at the same time, which ensures the protection of objects from attacks by several UAVs at the same time, including those flying from different directions.
The new complex "Serp-VS5", developed by the Research Institute "Vector" of the holding "Ruselectronics", operates in five frequency bands - from 900 MHz to 5.8 GHz. This allows you to use it not only against civilians, but also against special aircraft.
The equipment suppresses the drone control channel, breaks communication with the operator, disables navigation equipment, disorients the drone in space and disrupts the flight mission. The system suppresses GPS, GLONASS, Beidou signals (in the L1, L2, L5 bands), and also breaks drone control over Wi-Fi.
The complex "sees" UAV-violators in the sector of 360 degrees along the horizontal axis. The function of dividing the viewing angle into sectors with independent modes of operation allows the use of other drones, if necessary, during the operation of the complex, for example, to monitor power transmission lines or pipelines. Communication with its own control center is carried out via an Ethernet network.
“Today, for the first time, we demonstrated the operation of the Serp complex of a new modification at the test site. Providing anti-drone protection is becoming an integral part of the security system of any objects. The equipment can work effectively both autonomously and as part of complex systems. The development of the anti-UAV line allows us to cover the widest possible pool of potential customers. Today we are seeing the greatest interest from companies that have industrial facilities of various profiles: from manufacturing enterprises to critical infrastructure facilities located in dense urban areas,” said Andrey Sorokin, Deputy General Director for Business Development at Vector Research Institute.
Previously, the Research Institute "Vector" brought to the market the "Serp-VS" complex with a range of 3 km in two frequency bands.
