The next step for the SAA is to take a quick breather, cross the Euphrates river and get the oil and gas fields East of Deir ez-Zor, this is a must. Please hurry up and do this.

In so sad but clearly the US is only using its Kurdish proxies for their own games, moving to counteract Syria and its allies' success at repelling all foreign-backed terrorists. Fighting ISIS is obviously of lesser interest. The US is bent on carving out the area east of the Euphrates as in own area of influence, thereby dividing Syria and positioning themselves as integral to any future negotiations and developments. The Kurds are really must think carefully about what future they want for themselves as the US, Turkey, Iran etc. care only of their own strategic interests.

Kurdish petro-state in the making? Interesting...

Turks have a conundrum on their hands lot more than SAA.

SAA needs to clean up those flanks first.

Any sources about how many casualties did the SDF incur in Raqqa? They are really just a militia with few tanks and APCs and Raqqa is extremely tough terrain after all.

Will they have enough resources to continue the offensive southwards once it's over in Raqqa?

    Amazing stuff right?  russia
Congrats to all those that allowed this to happen and above all props to the troops in Deir Ezzor that held tight all these years. Big day for the entire region, if not the world.

    Syrian War: News #15 - Page 8 DI-UjCoWAAEY_8a

I'm not so sure on what SDF is doing in terms of actually fighting IS in the area (besides Raqqa city). There is no footage, no reporting and no data. For all we know they accept IS surrender under the terms they can guarantee to them safety to cross to Turkey. Same as they did with IS oil.

In terms of fighting battles and war across the river, I'm convinced they're not doing any heavy lifting there. I doubt they do much at all.

    Update from the south

The Syrian Arab Army's 1st Division, backed by Iraqi paramilitaries, Hezbollah and Liwaa Fatemiyoun, have launched a new operation from the Al-Dulayat area of southeast Homs to reach the Deir Ezzor Governorate, Al-Masdar News reported.
The initial drive by the pro-government forces has seen the liberation of approximately 17 km of territory near the Deir Ezzor provincial border, the report explained.
This has meant that the pro-government forces have reached the outskirts of the Al-Saraym Canyon near the Deir Ezzor provincial border, according to a military source speaking with Al-Masdar News.

Yes, they are. Excellent job SAA and RuAF. I think, we must not forget in this story the crew of RuAF Su-34, which in last days in May made a night strike on ISIL gethering of ISIL commanders with Al Baghdadi. In this strike RuAF decapitate ISIL military leadership and this is very important reason, why ISIL is collapsing now so quickly and SAA with RuAF help is liberating their country with such speed.

I am still so curious about that airstrike, what exactly happened and how it came about. It will be a while before we know anything about it but curiosity is overwhelming.

For what we know, it was an airstrike on gethering of ISIL military leaders. Whatever exactly happened in that moment, it have a big positive after effect and this is it, what realy count here.

Just Russian intel-gathering vindicating itself again. Coalition had conducted some 30 strikes if I recall that had intended to take him out. Russia gets shit done, pretty much all there is to it imo. They're revered and feared for a reason.

Baghdadi is a Mossad agent, it is unlikely that he was ever in Syria or Iraq.
