Not a whole lot captured from the former Russian base. And a lot of those AK's were clearly for SAA. They must have known about the incoming attack and knew they were under manned to hold off.

They really are rubbish...I doubt a 10 year old believes much of the utter rubbish they simply make up these days.

1) SAA managed to evacuate most of Palmira's population. The terrorist just captured an empty settlement and aircraft can bomb them w/o worrying about civillian casualties (but may be with worrying about historical sites).

2) Aleppo offensive is virtually ended and soon a huge number of SAA troops will be free to be relocated elsewhere.

Conclusion: wanna see some IS barbercued in Palmira ? I predict a huge firestorm there.

Guys let's not kid ourselves here. Palmyra was a huge blow and whas slow in the making. They relentelessly went on and on towards Palmyra and not farther than September the Russians were forced to hit Shaer to let the SAA/NDF with some breathing room.

Now less than 3 months that sector just doesn't exist. The small Russian contingent asked to leave on 7th December, they were denied once, then allowed to haul ass. This is something Turkey is feeling first hand, don't commit to small a contingent or don't release the pressure. This was a horrible setback from an operational perspective and I am ready to believe the Russians will restart a pushback from T4. Just not like last time.

Although this battery was likely operational at the time of capture, the Islamic State will probably find no use for it.

who asked the Russian contingent to leave on Dec 7? As well, this fault is on NDF and SAA for not holding their positions.

Anyway, reinforcements are headed to Palmyra. But will probably be smaller than needed since Aleppo will get attacked again with terrorists coming from Idlib. Which is right now being pounded by Air force.

I bet Russian intel knew what was coming (read unhappy revolution stakeholders) and decided their men's lives were more important than some hills made of sand. War makes decision-makers cynical, win Aleppo and contain your losses/exposure elsewhere. The Palmyra wedge into IS turf was way too exposed in the first place. T4 can also fall tomorrow, but I doubt it matters anymore. Su-24s and choppers have time to GTFO.

Russia still won the war.

Russian command asked their men to stay put and SITREP, on 9th they were given green light. T4 has been marked for defense. It will not fall down so easily. However, they have managed to use over 12 ATGM's so far, number unheard of ISIS for such a small front. Clearly they have been amassing material for a push.

I read sukhois and hinds were seen taking off from T4

One thing about today's IS advance, it puts #Syria's remaining gas fields at risk now. Not much between the crossroads and the last fields.

That is not true. Turkey is NOT fighting ISIS. Oil cross every week across RAQA towards Turkey and Erdogan do not stop their illegal business with ISIS. So you can't be fighting ISIS and having business with them at same time. it didn't happen. So the video is either not ISIS but Kurds , or it could be a fabrication to make it look Turkey is fighting ISIS,the explosion actually looks fake done in photoshop.. but still not clear whether is real or not.. LAvrov just yesterday was just denouncing NATO how they allowed 4,000 ISIS fighters to travel 100 miles ,on pickups from RAqqa to palmyra without lifting a finger. and endless supplies comes from Turkey to IDLIB . In wars the truth is the first victim , and deception the biggest strategy. There are reports from 
french journalist saying that this NATO "Liberations" people so much talk about is nothing
but a transfer of lands with a shake of hands and wink.. Turkey is not fighting ISIS  . period.
ISIS cannot survive in Syria without supply lines ,without food ,without logistics. Who provide
ISIS with food in Syria? with Satellite communications? NATO of course. and there is plenty of reports of ISIS being threated at TUrkey hospitals when wounded and then sent back to fight.
There are pictures of the Son of Erdogan having meetings with Leaders of ISIS.. on the net. 
So don't be naive in the believe ERdogan fights ISIS. They don't . If Erdogan block all the supplies that Saudis sends to ISIS , they will not last a single month in Syria.

Putin complains that Obama is not bombing Alqaeda. he can't do that. Since they are

Americans coalition bombings are a show.. just empty places . and the very few times US bombed ISIS was when they targeted kurds.  This is why ISIS do not fight much Kurds and only attack Syrian army and IRAQ army.  At times ISIS have issues with Alnusra Alqaeda and fight each other ,they are competition for to see who defeat Assad faster. Qatar finance Almusra Alqaeda and Saudi Arabia finance ISIS. FSA either move to any side offers them more money.
No moderates in Syria only terrorist. And US and Turkey have no intentions to defeat either ISIS or Alqaeda. they cooperate in reality and not fighting.
