TASS
The construction schedules of the new BDK project 11711 had to be revised
Large landing ships of the modernized project 11711 "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin" are being built at the Baltic sea shipyard "Yantar" according to an adjusted technical design, their hulls are formed on the stocks. The general director of the shipyard Ilya Samarin told TASS about this.
"The construction of these large landing ships is carried out according to an adjusted technical design. The period of the production cycle of construction today is a slipway. The hulls of both ships are being formed," he said.
The general director explained that the ships Vladimir Andreev and Vasily Trushin laid down at Yantar differ significantly from the projects of the basic project 11711, therefore the construction schedules have been revised taking into account the work on their modernization.
"Before the start of the tests, there are still a lot of production tasks to be completed in the technological sequence, so it is too early to talk about the factory sea trials of these ships," said Ilya Samarin. As part of the Russian Navy, two large landing craft of the basic project 11711 are in service - "Ivan Gren" and "Petr Morgunov". In April 2019, two BDK of improved project 11711, Vladimir Andreev and Vasily Trushin, were laid down at Yantar. According to preliminary information, the dimensions of the new ships will increase, their displacement will increase to 7-8 thousand tons. Each of them is capable of transporting up to 13 main battle tanks or up to 36 armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, as well as a marine battalion.

General Director of PSZ "Yantar" spoke about plans to build updated "paratroopers"
According to Ilya Samarin, in the first half of 2022, slipways will begin to vacate as the ships are launched, and the plant is taking measures to attract new orders.
MOSCOW, January 13. / TASS /. The Baltic Shipyard (PSZ) Yantar expects to continue building a series of large landing ships of the modernized project 11711, Ilya Samarin, general director of PSZ (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation), told TASS.
"Taking into account the specialization of the plant and the great experience in the development of military projects, I would like to build on our areas a series of large landing ships that the Russian Navy needs," he said.
According to Samarin, it is planned that the slipways will be vacated in the first half of 2022 as orders for water are launched. “To eliminate downtime and ensure the rhythmic loading of production capacities, we are taking measures to attract new orders,” he said.
Now PSZ is building two large landing ships of the modernized project 11711 for the Russian Navy and two project 11356 frigates for the Indian Navy.
It was reported that in connection with the recent fire at Severnaya Verf, where frigates and corvettes for the Russian Navy are being built, the possibility of transferring part of the orders to the PSZ is being considered.
Initially, PSZ built two large landing ships of project 11711 "Ivan Gren" and "Pyotr Morgunov". They have already been transferred to the Navy. On April 23, 2019, via videoconference, in which Russian President Vladimir Putin took part while at Severnaya Verf, the ceremony of laying two large landing ships of the modernized project 11711 "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin" took place at the PSZ.

I guess it is easier and more profitable for them.

This was announced to TASS by the general director of the enterprise Ilya Samarin.
"Taking into account the plant's specialization and extensive experience in developing military projects, I would like to build a series of large landing ships on our sites, which the Russian Navy needs," he said.

Re: Project 11711: "Ivan Gren" class
As they should
This Gren upgrade is slam dunk, they managed to salvage entire dead end class of ships and and turn them into something Navy needs in huge numbers
Keep at it

Re: Project 11711: "Ivan Gren" class
They are going to have to reach out to the rest of the world and start trade relationships with countries they haven't had relations with before...
Maybe build a few landing ships to Argentina....
Along with some Su-24s with upgrades... maybe some Su-35s to keep them safe... and perhaps a couple of Lada class SSKs... even a few improved Kilos would be useful...

Re: Project 11711: "Ivan Gren" class
Yantar PSZ JSC continues to work on the formation of the building of the newest BDK project 11711 "Vasily Trushin". During the period of June 25-28, the bow and stern islands of the future ship's hull were rolled out from the slipway shop to the open slipway position, which will allow us to speed up the installation of superstructure sections.

8,000 tons vs. 5,000
150 meters in length compared to 120
etc...
To continue calling a totally different ship "11711 modernized" is ridiculous, even if it is inspired by the Ivan Gren
At the moment there are 6 planned, I suppose they will accompany the two helicopter carriers in the Pacific and Black Sea fleets
The question is that the two original 11711 are nothing, it is necessary to replace them with larger ones
Perhaps the best thing is to get rid of them later and sell them to India, as well as the three frigates type 11356 Admiral Grigorevich (Krivak V), so that India has a series of 6 in total
