Are you telling me that Russia is running short on vespene gas?

Absolutely shameful! Something like this would never have happened under command of General Tassadar.

rare shots - showing the "roll out" of K-329 "Belgorod".

    1. hall door has opened - screws are already visible. Dock in position.
    2. ship in its floating dock which is just being flooded! Screws still visible.
    3. screws already under water. - K-549 "Knyaz Vladimir" is at the pier

Hmm, if thats Belgorod, so is the current Google Earth image dated 15/5/2019
    Poseidon carrier Submarines - Page 4 WD5pt3U

I noticed it recently & have been unclear what it actually is.
Hull looks not very Oscar-like, stern does look pretty Oscar but the bow looks double-bulged like how Khabarovsk is supposed to look.

Length measures nearly exactly same as nearby Knyaz Vladimir (though they're not parallel & in my experience that can cause significant variation in Google Earth)

Thats second sub capable of firing Poseidon.

Poseidon is not just a sub with a 50MT or 100MT nuclear warhead. The concept of attack is such that from its effect caused name of the God of the Sea Poseidon arises and so it is

    given to it.

It is envisaged that 6 subs would attack US. 3 from the east and 3 from the west firing from each side geometrically evenly distributed 18 Status-6 torpedoes each armed with 100MT

nuclear warhead with the combined force of 3500+MT nuclear charge going of by the time sequence that ensures tsunami crushing both US sides simultaneously.

Ultimate power of the Sea = Poseidon. That is why Russian experts also refer to Poseidon as a continent destroyer.

You won't create much of a tsunami with a mere 100mT nuke. Large earthhquakes release energy equal to THOUSANDS of such bombs, and that is the sort of energy needed to create the large tsunamis. 100mT will generate local surges at key tagets like cities and port facilities, but not along entire coastlines.

I'd suggest that Poseidon is intended as a counter-force weapon, ie 2nd strike, for use against major cities like NYC/Manhatten and LA, ie guarantees that no matter what happens (ie how effective US ABM measures are), the big coastal US cities will be wiped away with incalculable losses.

The other option is as a tactical weapon to take down carriers. I have no problem believeing that a Posiedon can outrun and/or evade the ASW defenses of a CBG and take down the giant white elephant(s) lurking at the center. The USN sock puppets love yabbering about the potential of AI-equipped UUVs so I guess they know it as well Twisted Evil

You can use a tank to attack a knife wielding man at the street and shoot it with 125mm round throw his head and you will do it if no other option is available so

use of Poseidon is meant to crush entire continents. Its a continent destroyer.

tsunami & radiation will effect only up to 100 miles inland. Even if both US coasts lines + the Mexican Gulf r hit along their entire length, it won't be enough to contaminate all of N. America.
But most of the population here, Canada, in S. America, as well as Japan & Australia lives within 80-100 miles of the coast.

100MT is enormous... if it does have that sort of warhead then the effect would be rather interesting and likely dramatic... out in very deep water it is going to create a sphere of super heated vapourised steam, which is going to immediately ascend like a wall of cloud. The water on both sides would then rush in to fill the space... the water from the ocean side will have a lot more mass and force, while the water from the America side will be from much shallower areas and consist of a lot less volume of water... so from sitting on the beach all of a sudden on the horizon a huge wall of cloud will appear... it would climb up and then spread out in all directions because the water vapour wont be able to climb too high due to its mass... and then the sea will receed back and the sea bed will be exposed... which is always a good sign a tsunami is in process...

Inside the sphere the wall of water from the ocean side will be rolling in to replace the missing water and a rather smaller amount of water will be coming from the sea side to do the same so when they meet in the middle of the sphere the water from the ocean side will pretty much wash over the water from the coast... the problem of course is that the bomb creates a sphere of empty space that needs to be filled whereas an earthquake shakes or moves a large section of ground in a long section... so there will be a tidal wave, but it will be localised... I would think it would be interesting to see the effect of billions of tons of irradiated sea water landing on America over the next few days would do to their climate and farmland....

Of course the alternative is to sail one right in to their major ports near the surface where there will be plenty of blast as well as steam generated.

Would be an interesting computer game... they could sell it on Steam... where a post WWIII game set in the US after these weapons have been used... of course these weapons will take longer than bombers to get to their targets so ICBMs and SLBMs first and then cruise missiles... including nuclear powered unlimited range cruise missiles arriving next and then these weapons maybe a day later.... maybe then the west will realise Russia is not coming to steal their stuff... they don't want to invade, but we frighten them and justifiably so... we are scary... so they want to be able to kill us all if it comes down to it...

The most closed Navy project is the Khabarovsk nuclear submarine of project 09851, the regular carrier of the promising nuclear unmanned aerial vehicles Poseidon, being built at Sevmash in Severodvinsk, will be launched at the end of May, sources in the defense industry said. After the descent, the submarine will be completed afloat, and then will go on trials, which will take at least two years. The prospects for a unique development are discussed by experts.
Today it is known that the development of “Status-6”, called “Poseidon”, will be put on combat alert in the amount of 32 units, for this purpose it is specially planned to build 8 submarines.

Khabarovsk [Project 09852] will be floated out in late June at the earliest.

The first basic carrier of Poseidon drones, a Project 09852 special-purpose nuclear sub, the Belgorod, was floated out on April 23, 2019 and is expected to enter service with the Russian Navy in September.

The Belgorod and the Khabarovsk are expected to carry six Poseidon drones each.

I would suspect because of the size and the nature of the weapon they will use dedicated subs to deploy them... but of course that does not limit the number of weapons they could deploy... you could probably stack a dozen weapons on a rack on wheels in a roll on roll off ferry that could roll a dozen weapons at a time into the water... they have unlimited range and could be released from anywhere... hell, they could probably use the internal canal network in Russia to change seas or large rivers around the world to get in to major lakes if they need to...

You are right, the energy released by a magnitude 8 earthquake is millions of regular atomic bombs. It is also spread out across a large area of the
seabed and efficiently induces a tsunami wave. A point detonation of a 100 Mt nuke even under water will not produce a significant tsunami. Most
of the energy will be dissipated in boiling the water and producing a large steam mushroom cloud.

We do not know how the Poseidon works. It may launch a short range nuclear missile that targets 1000 km zones away from the coast.

The western allies during WWII went after German civilians through carpet bombing. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Russia will make sure to target NATzO civilians as well. That is not really a war crime since these civilians support their governments in
perpetrating wars of aggression. But I am sure there will be lots of fake moral authority based bitching and moaning about what a
    war crime such actions are.

If the Poseidon has true intercontinental performance they could be launched from fixed structures, eg concealed launchers built into the terrain on Kola penisula. Putting them on subs makes much more sense when used against NATOstani CBGs. The Kharbarovsk and her future siblings could trail Saurons minions at long range well outside detection distances by their ASW escorts and helos, and be available 24/7 to deliver karmic justice whenever needed. Twisted Evil

Looking forward to seeing the Kharbarovsk. Its not everyday that a brand new class of warship is launched. Cool

to be intercepted & sunk in shallow waters by larking NATO subs?
Carrier subs on patrol in their bastions can launch them w/o being detected.

Given that Poseidons will be used in this role as a counterforce weapon, you can assume that nukes are already flying. Any NATO subs will have better things to do than try to locate silent super torpedos cruising slowly thru the shallow waters of the Eurasian/Siberian shelf (where passive acoustic detection is greatly disadvantaged). Why do you think the Barents sea was (is) considered a bastion even though its an open and accessible stretch of water? You think NATOstani SSNs will simply be able to cruise around at will???

Deploying them from ashore will make them vulnerable to 1st strike; 1-2 carrier subs can be kept on patrol 24/7/365.

A naval supply or merchant ship could deploy it to.
It could probably use acoustic homing to find & destroy CVNs & their groups- no need to look for a needle in a haystack.

I doubt CVNs are that much of a priority... this is a dooms day device... a revenge weapon... by the time these things are launched WWIII will have been over for a while... any CVNs near Russia will have been dealt with using hypersonic missiles... you don't need a super expensive nuclear powered torpedo to take those out...

I rather suspect they will use Posiedon as they suggest... send them to every significant port in the US and UK and EU... find the deepest water nearest the harbour and then blow them up.... super heated salt water and mud vapourised and blown ashore would kill vastly more people than an airburst would and they could design it to be dirty so trillions of tons of water and mud will be irradiated and distributed across enemy territory... ports and major rivers are fertile areas where most cities are built... hubs of commerce and trade... plus bear in mind that a torpedo this size could have ten warheads that could each be placed along a coastline to contaminate enormous areas and fishing places... survivors might need to acquire a taste for human flesh if they want to survive... if you get my drift... and this is all after all the ICBMs and SLBMs and cruise missiles of various types (stealthy and hypersonic) have detonated... it is literally rubbing very very hot salt into the wounds....

They could make thousands of them... bundle them up and put them inside the hulls of a few extra gas tankers they are going to be building... they could build an extra 2 or three and pretend they are testing natural gas powered engines to keep costs down or claim they are having problems with something on these models... at times of heightened tensions send them out and if the number twos hit the air conditioning systems... everyone on the lifeboats and sink them... each releasing 20 or 30 weapons mid ocean per ship...
