Add a IFR probe to the Be-200 and all is fine.

Yes, but in fact what I was arguing is that nowadays you do not need a plane like the A-40, designed for the needs of the USSR
To operate in the Baltic and in the Black Sea , or even in the Japan Sea (in the vicinity of Vladivostok, south Sakhalin or south Kuriles) is not necessary IFR probe , nor that a plane be larger than a Be-12.
Moreover, in the area controlled by the Northern and Pacific fleets, the anti-submarine task is carried out by Tu-142 and Il-38
And also for the SAR task, it is not necessary a seaplane because seas of Kara, Barents, Okhotsk, Bering, etc ... are frozen in winter and even in summer the waters are not suitable for a hydroplane most of time, and the water is too cold for a person to survive to be rescued
This is the best of seaplanes such as Be-200
[/url]
The Be-200 is a great airplane because can be operated in a large country like Russia with a lot of recondite places without aerial infrastructure , where the Be-200 can "take land" not only in the sea , also at inland lakes and rivers
In fact the main customers probably could be the Border Guard in adition to the current main operator, the Ministry of Emergencies

And what about the engines? I know that some D-436 (e.g. for the An 148) were assembled in Russia (UEC Salyut in Moscow) but I don't know how many components were sourced from the Ukraine.
Since they are for the navy maybe for some parts they could even cannibalize the engines of the grounded an148...

"The Ukraine" make exactly ZERO components for Russian miitary complex
in the last years Russia has been replacing all the foreign components of their production for be self sufficient
If the delay for five years with Be-200 is end, this means Russia have solved the problem, as in the case of frigates
Actually, companies like Motor Sich have been decapitalized, their assets taken to Russia and their best technicians and skilled workers are already working in Russia. Finally, the remaining intellectual property of the company has been sold to China.
Basically "The Ukraine" is going to be totally emptied: Assets, natural resorces, and also the people
Of 52.24 million people living in 1991, the government recognizes that they have already lost 15 million (37,28 million 1-1-20), and that does not include several millions more that work permanently abroad (the real number can be 32 to 34 mllion)
"The Ukraine" no longer produces anything that nobody wants or nobody needs, Ukraine is not necessary for anyone at all

Re: Be-200 Multirole Amphibian
Russian naval aviation received the first Be-200ES amphibious aircraft
According to the AviaPressPhoto web resource, on July 14, 2020, in Yeysk, in the 190th training mixed aviation regiment on the basis of the 859th Center for Combat Training and Retraining of Naval Aviation Flight Command of the Russian Navy, a meeting was held of the first PJSC Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex named after G.M. Beriev "Be-200ES amphibious aircraft for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The plane is named after the Soviet civilian pilot Alexander Mamkin, who took part in Operation Zvezdochka, whose task was to evacuate the pupils of Polotsk Orphanage No. 1. In late March - early April 1944, pilots of the 105th separate guards air regiment delivered about 200 educators and orphans to the Soviet rear.
On the bmpd side, we indicate that this aircraft is the first built under a revised contract signed in 2018 by the Russian Ministry of Defense with PJSC United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) to supply the Naval Aviation with three Be-200ES aircraft declared as search and rescue (with fire extinguishing function). " This first flight of the Be-200ES (presumably serial number 311) made its first flight on February 14, 2020 in Tagangrog from the factory airfield of PJSC Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex named after G.M. Berieva ”(TANTK; part of PJSC UAC). The plane has tail number “20 yellow” and now has got its own name “Alexander Mamkin”.
It is stated that the other two aircraft under this contract should be surrendered to the Navy by the end of 2020, although this raises some doubts.
Earlier in May 2013, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed with TANTK them. G.M. Berieva State contract for the delivery of six Be-200 amphibious aircraft to Russian naval aviation - two Be-200ES aircraft and four modified Be-200PS aircraft (without fire fighting function) - totaling 8.4 billion rubles. The delivery was supposed to be made under the terms of the contract in 2014-2016, however, the construction of aircraft under this contract (serial numbers 309, 310 and from 351 to 354) at TANTK turned into a long-term construction and, in fact, according to known data, did not advance beyond the initial stage. In 2017, the Ministry of Defense terminated this contract. In August 2017, the Moscow Arbitration Court upheld the lawsuit of the Russian Ministry of Defense to recover from the TANTK im. G.M. Beriev more than 6.726 billion rubles as an unspent advance payment under this contract. As a result, in 2018, the contract was re-signed for only three Be-200ES aircraft.
The first Be-200ES aircraft handed over to the Russian Navy under this contract was the first Be-200 built on the TANTK since December 2018 and the seventh serial aircraft of this type of Taganrog production. Earlier in 2016-2018, the TANTK built six Be-200ES (serial numbers 303 to 308) for the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Natural Disaster Management (EMERCOM) of Russia under a contract of the Ministry of Emergencies with the KLA from May 2011.
Prior to this, in turn, nine Be-200 aircraft were built - two flight prototypes at the TANTK (Be-200 in 1998 and Be-200ES in 2002) and seven production Be-200ES at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (commissioned since 2003 in 2011), of which six were delivered by the Russian Emergencies Ministry and one by the Azerbaijani Emergencies Ministry. Thus, a total of 16 flight specimens of the Be-200 were built.

Re: Be-200 Multirole Amphibian
Immersion suits have come a long way in the last few years... that guy who does the Combat Approved TV show has worn a bit one piece orange immersion suit where he jumps into water and floats for a bit and then climbs out not adversely effected by the deeply sub zero temperatures...
Also some people in trouble are not in the water but have inflatable life rafts and could spend days at sea...
I remember the SAR version of the A-40 that had inflatable speed boats on board so the aircraft could land and they could be sent out over a wide area to collect up people to be put in the plane and rescued... for instance a problem on an oil rig or something...
And for fire fighting being able to operate at jet speeds and scoop up water from any nearby water source like a river or lake makes them vastly more capable than a helicopter with a bucket...
They have kept their Mails in service all this time so they must be useful for something...

Re: Be-200 Multirole Amphibian
I think it was the Combat Approved episode about Ratnik, or it might have been about arctic conditions and its effect on gear... it wasn't translated to English, but it included showing a standard radio and when taken into a "cold room" to simulate arctic conditions the plastic around the cord for the microphone disintegrated and failed...
The suit itself was bright orange and it seemed to be made of some sort of quilted fabric... I want to buy it... perhaps in a less bright colour...

- The first Be-200ES aircraft under this contract (tail number "20 yellow", serial number 311), built at TANTK, made its first flight in Taganrog on February 14, 2020, and on July 14 was transferredin the 190th training mixed aviation regiment of the 859th Center for combat training and retraining of flight personnel of the Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy in Yeisk.
- The Be-200PS aircraft, now lifted into the air, became the second board under this contract with the Ministry of Defense, and at the same time the first Be-200 built in the search and rescue version of the Be-200PS. Visually, the Be-200PS modification can be distinguished from the Be-200ChS by the absence of water tank flaps and the presence of portholes in place of the overflow holes.
- It is reported that the construction of the second Be-200PS (serial number 356) under the aforementioned contract with the Ministry of Defense continues.

Re: Be-200 Multirole Amphibian
Oh so they're actually S&R version?Be-200PS modification can be distinguished from the Be-200ChS by the absence of water tank flaps
I had thought it odd to split purchase/operation between organisations but makes sense if its a S&R version.
What engine are they using? They need PD-8 engine
Did they have spare stock of the Ukrainian engine kicking around? I doubt the 404s would be allowing export of new ones (& I wouldn't trust the quality if they did).
There was a plan to sell SaM146 engined ones on Export & with a bunch of SSJs grounded there would certainly be spares of that around (though the reason for that grounding is reliability issues with SaM146...maybe less of an issue for this more specialised use-case?)
