Well, i shall say that we had field power generators that had Chinese engines, even to they were built for certain German company they did not really impress.

Not sadder than Chinese stealth fighter projects running on Russian engines. It's for a tiny, cheap, mass-produced corvette. Chinese engines make sense without the need to re-invent the wheel and just like many USSR ships used to be foreign-made. PLAN corvette fleet is one of a kind globally, built-up in just the past 4 years (30 vessels iirc), so they must be doing something right (i.e. copying MTU designs

See how i look at it. I am not saying that Chinese engines are horrid or genuinely bad (even tho i doubt they come close to German counterparts). Russia tends to consider itself second most powerful military in the world, and likes to call own technical designs as "having no equal in the world". Russia is biggest country in the world, in top 15 in terms of population, top 5 in natural resources of all types... Now lets think about it for a moment, why in the name of God such country would not produce diesel engines in that very popular class, which has good sale options not only for domestic but also export customers.
Imo there is no real way to justify such country to rely on foreign technology, especially on contract like these "Buy to install", even worse in case of something (fairly) simple as diesel engines. Licence production and buyoff of know-how i however can understand. Yes, there were 10 hard years in Russia post USSR disappearance and industry fell in deep canal, but still, crucial technologies and companies had to be saved. It reminds me alot of Serbia tbh, foreign companies buying our engine plants, shipyards, tool making companeis and then they would just close them so they can have free market for their own products, or start production of something unrelated and useless. Now we cant produce a pencil in this country.
It sort of hurts knowing that small Finland has Wärtsilä, one of the major world maritime engine suppliers (and one of the best we can add).

Russian Missile Corvette Serpukhov Joins Mediterranean Naval Group
The Russian Serpukhov small-sized missile ship joined Russia's naval group in the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea Fleet spokesman said Friday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, Serpukhov left its naval base in the Russian southwestern port city of Sevastopol.
"The ship entered the Mediterranean Sea and joined the naval group in the region," Сapt. 1st Rank Vyacheslav Trukhachev told RIA Novosti.
Serpukhov is Russia's Buyan M-class corvette built as part of the Navy’s current shipbuilding program. The missile version of a Buyan-class corvette is typically armed with Kalibr (SS-N-27) anti-ship missiles, 100-mm and 30-mm guns, as well as Igla-1M air defense missiles.

Zelenodolsk Shipyard is really getting the job done.

Once they are done with Buyans they should be given contract for full sized corvettes. Definitely faster than crowd in Kaliningrad.
Hell, if they can fit them into dry dock might as well get them to build frigates.

I think Zelenodolsk should build 3 more Buyan-M corvettes for Caspian flotilla.

No need, by that time 22800 Karakurt will be in full production so they can go with that. It is Buyan replacement after all.

Sepheronx,
I suggest you remove that info you posted.
That corvette is not ready.
It still does not have engines (German MTU diesels that are under sanctions).
The shipyard is waiting for Chinese or Russian Diesels.

Removed it. Yeah, when it's removed from Sdelanounas, raises a red flag.

Wait a minute. Vyshny Volochyok has been launched. I doubt they would do that without the engines.

Zvezda M520
Aren't the engines domestically produced in Saint Petersburg ?

I thought they would fit either Russian Zvezda M507 or Chinese copy of MTU, both of which are more or less available almost instantly.

I'll hold off till more details follows. Better than speculation imo.
Article I'll rewrite it, but instead of certainties, I'll just wait till concrete proof.

Look carefully.
The previous units were launched with the 100mm gun and most radars already fitted. This one is still a bare bones ship.
My guess is that construction has been halted on it until the engines arrive. They may have placed it in water to clear space in the shipyard.
It will have to go back in to have the engines and other stuff fitted and then only officially launched.
