Leaders of Russia and Kazakhstan discuss bilateral relations, Eurasian union development
Putin noted that the global economy and the economies of the two countries were experiencing difficult times
ASTANA, October 15. /TASS/. Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbayev are discussing at a meeting in Astana the bilateral relations and the development of the Eurasian Economic Union. Putin suggested the agenda while opening the meeting.
Putin noted that the status of a state visit with which he arrived in Kazakhstan "pointed to the level and nature of our relations." The Russian leader described cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan as "not just trust-based, but as allied relations in every sense."
Putin noted that the global economy and the economies of the two countries were experiencing difficult times. He added though that trade between Russia and Kazakhstan in rubles demonstrated growth. The Russian president also pointed to the big volume of investment. According to Putin, the conditions for the development of the two countries’ economies are created by the EAEU as well. "We have already seen our partners’ suggestions concerning the development of relations between the economic associations. They are willing to cooperate with the Eurasian Union in different formats," the Russian president said. "All that will be a matter of discussion."

Russia to negotiate free trade zone with Syria after removal of sanctions
Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade welcomes cooperation with Syria, and is ready to continue this work together with other members of the Eurasian Economic Union
MOSCOW, October 20. /TASS/. Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade is ready to discuss with Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member-states the issue of creating a free trade zone with Syria as soon as its economic and political situation is resolved.
"We really do not object (discussion of the issue of creating a free trade zone with Syria — TASS) and welcome cooperation with Syria, and are ready to continue this work together with other members of the Eurasian Economic Union," Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said at a meeting of BRICS industry ministers on Tuesday. "But I think we should wait for all political and economic issues to be resolved in the country in order to continue this cooperation within a new platform," he added.
Speaking about possibility of introducing a free trade zone regime between the EAEU member-states and BRICS economies, Manturov said that India is negotiating creation of a free trade zone with Eurasian Economic Union. "I think other BRICS countries and other probable foreign partners will be interested in signing similar agreement," he said.
Earlier a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the EAEU came into effect. Egypt has also applied for launch of free trade zone regime, the application is being considered at the moment.

Re: Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)
I do not get that garbage of illegal sanctions at all. They and not even UN has no buisness telling anyone whom they can trade with and with whom they can not. Especially for countries like Russia it should be ignored since the west will still have to buy russian gas, metals, precious metals and so on.

Eurasian Development Bank to expand, China, Turkey, Iran among possible newcomers
ST. PETERSBURG, October 20. /TASS/. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) plans to increase the number of its member-states, Chairman Dmitry Pankin told TASS on Tuesday, adding that China, Korea, Turkey, India and Iran may potentially become its new members.
"Among EDB top-priorities is the goal of increasing its member-states. Potentially those are countries interested in the region - China, Korea, maybe Turkey, India, Iran. Of course, we don’t have a tough schedule of adding new members to the EDB, this being more like a motion vector," Pankin said.
In August, the bank’s shareholders reviewed its development strategy, the official said. "We offered an option to the EDB board: if founders assume that the Bank should be engaged in big infrastructure projects, significant to the regions’ states recapitalization should equal to at least $10 bln. Then the Bank may take on big energy, transport projects involving member-states. But their budgets have no such funds thus, a decision was made not to carry out this huge recapitalization," he said, adding that amid this environment "the Bank’s goal is to focus on integration projects with value chains in industry, chemicals, pharmacy, machine building." "Intersection of interests of the Bank’s member-states was our key criterion in the project," Pankin said.
Eurasian Development Bank is an international financial organization established to promote economic growth in its member states, extend trade and economic ties between them and to support integration in Eurasia. It was conceived by Presidents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan and established in 2006. The Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Belarus and the Kyrgyz Republic became its full members of in 2009, 2010 and 2011 respectively. The Bank’s equity capital totals $1.5 bln.

China backs Putin’s model of Eurasian integration — foreign ministry
Vladimir Putin suggested Eurasian Economic Union begin consultations with countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on economic partnership
BEIJING, December 4. /TASS/. China supports a model proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin of the Eurasian integration involving Beijing’s initiative, the Silk Road Economic Belt, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said on Friday.
"As for the integration of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Silk Road Economic Belt proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the leaders of the two countries have reached consensus on this issue," Chunying said.
"This is an important strategic step made by the countries of the region for economic cooperation and also for gaining common profit and prosperity," the Chinese diplomat said.
"For achieving greater economic profits for the countries and people of the region, China is ready to work with all the sides, including Russia, to promote regional cooperation based on equality, mutual benefit and consultations as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization," she said.
In his state of the nation address on Thursday, Putin invited EAEU colleagues to begin consultations with countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on establishing economic partnership.
Putin said "this partnership creates new possibilities for Russia for increasing supplies of food, energy resources, engineering, educational, health and tourism services to the Asia-Pacific region and will allow playing a leading role in the formation of new technological markets, and extend major global trade flows to Russia."

Russian Gov't Committee Backs Eurasian Union’s Free Trade Deal With Vietnam
Russian government’s legislative committee on Tuesday endorsed a free trade deal between Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and Vietnam, in a bid to streamline the flow of goods between the EEU and Asia Pacific.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The draft law will now be scrutinized by the Russian government at a meeting. The deal needs to be ratified since it contains regulations that diverge from those enshrined in Russian laws.
"The implementation of the agreement will help boost mutual flow of goods and strengthen trade and economic ties between its signatories, create conditions for EEU gaining a greater role in integration processes underway in the Asia-Pacific region," the Russian government said in a statement.
The Eurasian Economic Union, which came into being in January 2015, is an economic union of former Soviet republics, namely Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan.
Vietnam signed a trade pact with the five-member bloc on May 29, 2015. It stipulates that all parties are to tear down all major trade barriers in their markets for imports of other state signatories.
A separate batch of protocols stipulates commitments on bilateral trade in services, company management and travel that Russia and Vietnam have as member states of the World Trade Organization.

Putin ratifies interim agreement on EAEU-Iran free trade zone
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law ratifying a temporary agreement on formation of a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran
MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law ratifying a temporary agreement on formation of a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday.
The relevant law, published on the official Internet portal of legal information, was ratified by the State Duma and the Federation Council (two houses of the Russian parliament) on November 15 and 23, respectively.
"To ratify the interim agreement on formation of a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states, for one part, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the other part, signed in Astana on May 17, 2018," the document says.
The agreement signed in Astana on May 17, 2018 sets the main rules of trade between the EAEU and Iran most closely to those of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which Iran does not belong to.
The agreement creates conditions for boosting the development of trade and economic cooperation between countries through the liberalization of the rules of their mutual trade. The document defines the obligations of the parties, providing for the reduction or elimination of tariffs and non-tariff barriers in relation to certain goods. The agreement also establishes preferential rates of customs duties that apply to such goods.
It is agreed that the party importer recognizes sanitary and phytosanitary measures of the exporting country as equivalent, even if these measures differ from its own or from measures used by third countries. The agreement establishes the rules for determining the origin of goods, which are applied in order to provide preferential tariff regime.
The agreement enters into force 60 days from the date of receipt of the last written notice of completion by the member states of the EAEU and Iran of the internal procedures necessary for its entry into force.
