Russian company develops Strela multipurpose car family for Armed Forces
Currently, the line includes six vehicles, two of which - a base armored car and an amphibious armored car - are ready, the company said

MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. Russia’s Military-Industrial Company (VPK) will develop a new multipurpose car, based on the Strela armored vehicle, for the Ministry of Defense, VPK CEO Alexander Krasovitsky told TASS Thursday.
"The Strela car line is being developed in compliance with the Defense Ministry research and development work. Currently, the line includes six vehicles, two of which - a base armored car and an amphibious armored car - are ready. The series will also include a multipurpose non-armored car, making it possible to update the park of universal off-road vehicles of the Russian Army," Krasovitsky said.
According to the official, the Strela family will also include a light buggy for special operations forces, as well as armored and unarmored chassis for deployment of various weapons and systems.
He disclosed that Strela is cheaper than the Tigr armored vehicle due to use of commercial parts.
"Due to wide use of parts from commercial cars, the Strela vehicles could be services and repaired at the vast car service station network," Krasovitsky added.
He disclosed that VPK developed the Strela base car in 1.5 months under the company’s own initiative.
The vehicle family was first presented at the Army 2020 military forum in the Moscow Region’s Kubinka.

This is a sensible place to put that video... I was hoping people would be interested in a thread specifically about quad bikes and those very light metal framed dune buggy type vehicles used by special forces, and that perhaps a separate thread could be used.
Infantry Mobility Vehicles is a very broad topic and should include the topics on tanks and BMPs and BTRs too, but for instance there is a Kurganets and Boomerang thread for discussion specific to that.
No big deal.

Eskadron buggy. Replace the rockets with a few Hermes/Klenok missiles or some loitering ammunition (= suizide dones) and you got a higly mobile deep strike weapon.

Re: Infantry Mobility Vehicles
It looks like one of those three wheel motor bike things that are all enclosed but the front part leans into corners at lower speeds...
The firepower looks interesting... I assume they are 80mm rocket pods of the new type being developed for drones and aircraft... I would think a rifle calibre machine gun and 40mm grenade launcher would be a useful back up too for ground and air targets too.
Interesting idea...
Conceptually like those Aerosans from WWII with a front mounted MG and it sat on skis and was powered by a big fan propeller...
Seems to be a single person vehicle... so this could be the equivalent of the RPG guy in a squad... imagine a family... with MGs and with grenade launchers and sniper rifles etc etc... mobile relatively lightly armoured... fast moving...

Re: Infantry Mobility Vehicles
Actually one of those metal cable thresher things for setting off mines mounted on the front will make short work of any cars in your way that need to be mulched to make them easier to drive over...
And a basic over the shoulder mounted RWS with a rifle calibre machine gun and grenade launcher linked to a helmet mounted sight would be useful too.

Really? Nobody's going to mention the Russians made the rocket buggy real? For shame

It's obvious why they chose rockets:
1.) Dirt Cheap.
2.) Accurate with new laser guidance packages.
3.) Versatile because of all the different types of munitions, including loitering drones (including suicide ones).

Yeah, this turd will not fly

And I have a feeling it looks even more retarded from behind
Here is a crazy idea: Start ordering Mi-38s and then load normal armoured vehicle inside it instead of this abortion

Re: Infantry Mobility Vehicles
Angled armor. Probably good against what NATO infantry use as standard rifle/machine gun.
Reminds me this sort of car. It's kinda cool
:

Edit : medo was faster for the comparison

Russia’s Baltic Machine-Building Company (BMK) will unveil the world’s first all-wheel high-speed amphibious vehicle christened “Drozd” during Army-2020 Forum to be held next week.
Drozd is based on a modular platform of the same name. The vehicle can accelerate to 70 kmph on water and up to 100 kmph on land, Mil.Press FLOT reported Monday.
Built from carbon fibre, the Drozd weighs 2 tons and can carry an additional weight of 1.5 tons. "Drozd" is powered by a 260 hp diesel engine weighing 120 kg.
The vehicle’s hull is distinguished by mine protection and the ability to install light armor. The wheels are equipped with an on-the-go inflation system. Drozd can be armed with various weapons - from machine guns and combat modules to multiple rocket launchers.
Although US (Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics), UK (Gibbs) and China (Research Institute of Vehicles) have built amphibious vehicles, none of the foreign analogs have a "real" all-wheel drive with blocking center and cross-axle differentials.
"The vehicle is designed modular, which makes it possible to create on its basis a line of amphibians for various purposes and carrying capacity," Sergey Tereshenkov, chief designer and head of BMK, noted. "Among them are options for the marines, the Navy, land force, coastal troops, reconnaissance forces, special operations forces, logistical support units, engineering troops (including for the guidance of pontoon crossings), medical services, etc. Also, the machine will find its use in other power structures: rescue, fire services and law enforcement agencies.”
