they should censor it for bad writing. seriously its not like dungeons and dragons are even trying. they prolly just read the synopsis on wiki or something, that prolly explains the shit adaptation. characters acting like completely different persons from the source material, plot going everywhere and nowhere at the same time(tbf the original author does this, but at least he has benefit of almost war&peace thick books), shitty dialogue(tho there are some gems, like "bad poohsey"),etc.

Well the internet is for porn and there are ten thousand sites of porn stuff people can go watch and banning 10 sites won't make a big deal.

Banning ten of the biggest sites will make a difference. Accessibility becomes a whole lot harder. It's also a very symbolic gesture.

I disagree with censorship as it is often used by a small group of people to impose their views on the majority, or by the state, in any country, to silence any opposition. As regards what happens in Russia it seems as if it could be a reaction against elements of VK. Russian networks have always been almost anarchic, anything, and I mean anything, goes, one of the legacies of Yeltsin. On VK it was difficult to avoid seeing very unpleasant things without even looking for them, for instance some people had avatars that were sickening. This situation also existed on "moi mir", but they mostly purged all the bad stuff some years ago. VK did nothing substantial to clean itself of the worst aspects, so perhaps it is not surprising there is a reaction. It's a much bigger issue than VK of course, but I think VK has a lot of responsibility for this reaction against "anything goes".

A relatively old news which I forgot to post

    https://www.rt.com/politics/318706-putin-Bible-Koran-law/

Putin proposes law to exempt Bible, Koran from extremism law

The sacred texts of Russia’s four established religions will be exempt from being branded incitements to terrorism, if a law proposed by Vladimir Putin is passed. The draft legislation comes after parts of the Koran were deemed extremist by a regional court.

Citing freedom of religion as a foundation of Russia’s constitution, the explanatory note attached to the law states that “Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism are an inseparable part of the historic legacy of the peoples who inhabit Russia.”

“Thus the Bible, Koran, Tanakh, and Kangyur, their contents and their quotes cannot be classed as extremist materials.”

    I support this.

    https://www.rt.com/politics/319167-russian-senator-drafts-bill-on/

Upper House MP Anton Belyakov has drafted a bill allowing Russian courts to order the chemical castration of people convicted of sex crimes against children. At present, such a measure can only be applied on a voluntary basis.

In an explanatory note attached to the bill, Belyakov noted that the international experience had proved that chemical castration is an effective method that would minimize the possibility of repeated crimes among those convicted for sex crimes against under age children.

I am strictly against such things. The problem is how often has a country labeled someone for rape or pedophilia when he was a threat to the state to assure status quo? Like Assange alledged rape. To easy this can be abused like many laws. I personally doubt that any form of castration prevents of humans feeling their lust for sex. There are quite a few male that have sterilized themselfs to have no kids and still have a good lust for sex and that is chemical castration which i doubt is much more than sterlizing.

Most likely it is an anti-sect law. Russia is suspicious of non-Orthodox denominations, but mainly Evangelical ones. Restrictions against these denominations started much before Putin, during Yeltsin's government.

Russia is an eastern orthodoxy nation where even Putin visits Church regularly. The issue is various sects like JW's which are frowned upon. It is illegal to also take pictures inside a church or mosque or any religious site. It is also illegal to actually cause any forms of sacrilege towards the Church in Russia. Many other sects like Catholicism is against Orthodoxy and likes to bad mouth him. Predominantly through Poland.

Don't take some Polish freaks for the entire Catholic people. The great majority is sympathetic towards Orthodoxy. And not all Poles are russophobes, for example John Paul II wasn't (though for obvious reason he was strongly anti-Communist, but that is another thing completely different).

Well here in America, the Evangelical mega churches are nothing more than tax-free money making scams at the top, while Evangelicals near the bottom of the totem are constantly intertwined in gay prostitution rings, underage call boy rings, child pornography rings...there's scandals such as this that are routinely uncovered just about every 6 months for the past 15 years. A decade ago those scandals would make national news, but now they're buried on the 5th or 6th page of the local newspaper.

Sorry, but the Vatican has to answer for it's widespread pedophilia. Your boy John Paul II was exposed for protecting widespread child molestation networks...While the Vatican is molesting children, Orthodox/Coptic practitioners are fighting off the Wahabbist/Salafist extremist hordes that threaten to invade Europe.

So, a Russophobic American religious site uses as their "evidence" a Russophobic anti Russian propaganda site, Forum18, who as "evidence" quote their own articles. Probably not polite to notice people eating each others shit.....

Agreed with your first sentence. Partially agree with the second. There is a terrible problem of paedophilia, but the causes are not what the mass media say: it was caused exactly by the opening of the Church and allowance of homosexual people into seminaries since Vatican II. The Orthodox, as they didn't have their "springtime of the Church", also avoided this problem. Good for them, we should have done exactly the same.

Gospel of Christ is already shared far and wide across Russia. It's been shared for nearly millennia now. And has taken root firmly.

Why waste time converting people who are already converted? Plenty of places on this planet where it's still not done so why not go there?

Also rest of you guys: can we leave intra-christian holy war for some other time?

There has been plenty of problems of JW's, Scientologists, Islamists, etc all preaching and trying to convert people. The simple fact that they banned that is great. Let people decide. Russia is predominantly Orthodoxy, so leave that be.

This is primarily against NGO's who constantly try to undermine VVP and the Orthodox Church. Religious toleration here is vast and normal, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, whatever, all get along well and live side by side. The evangelicals seem to have a penchant for trying to undermine The State and after years of warnings and evangelicals actively supporting Ukraine events publicly it was decided enough was enough. If you have an official Church, no problem, let those who may be interested come to your Church. If you want to worship in your home with friends and acquaintances, no one cares and no one will kick in your door. Just don't stand at the gates of the local Orthodox Church or Mosque and try to dragoon worshipers to come to your Church. That is considered to be bad form.

As an aside, the Baptist Church in this berg is still operating and no one has mentioned shutting it down.
