Belarus needs newer aircrafts. Since they are a smaller nation with very small population, a good airforce will guarantee protection. Maybe replace all those MiG's and Su-27's for newer Sukhois all done under CSTO management and funding. More Yak-130's would be great for training.

Or find a cheaper alternative than Su-30's, as they are expensive. Hence why a need to get an alternative of PAK FA out eventually.

Mig-29SMT and Su-27SM would be the best and cheapest options for smaller countries.

This will further enhance Belarus AD with the ability to guide 48 missiles on 24 targets all in all  thumbsup

Sounds good ..but 24 planes is far from the numbers you will have to deal in a real combat. Many NATO countries have no less than 300 planes..  Israel have 1,000   Turkey about same.. and this is not counting drones.  Belarus
defenses are not good enough to face a NATO massive attack with Tomahawks or combat jets launching missiles in the hundreds.. specially if the attack is done nearly same time. An ideal Minimum air defense in belarus should have the capability to counter at least 50 planes at the same time ,even if they fire all their missiles first . So at very least a strong minimum defense in belarus should be able to counter 100 targets/missiles at same time. IN lybia war for example NATO did not used a huge force ,just a good enough one and they launched near a thousand of tomahawks missiles somewhere it was said. Air defense they could be compared with personal umbrellas , they are good to cover you from any rain ,but if you have to cover two or three people at same time from a rain ,it doesn't work that well.

Belarus has means to counter much more than 50 planes at the same time and in comparison with any EU country has by far more capable IADS. Also Belarus PVO troopers are excellent.

In regards to NATO - pitting 30 states against one is not fair and Belarus would not stand alone in that fight and thats for sure.

    - 48 missiles for 24 targets makes only latest addition (because of 4 Russian S-300 batteries) to Belarus anyway formidable IADS.

How is the belarussian economy lately? Is it in deficit or debt from upgrading its military? How is the popularity of Bat'ka currently? I hope he's not hanging from a hair in power. After all Belarus is the only succefsul soviet style state currently and I hope its stays strong so that the left can still be a force in eastern europe before it's completely overrun by exploitating libertarian douches.

Good stuff Viktor, thanks. Considering that apparently the portofolio of Russian-Ukraine contracts was no less than $15 billion, if an important part of that will be transferred to Belarus it will be a major boost for it's industry and of course Russia-Belarus bilateral ties.

From Belta news (Belarus news agency). Military pilots of the 116th guards attack aviation base of the air and anti-aircraft defense forces of the Republic of Belarus finish second at the international aviation competition Aviadarts 2014 that was held in Russia.

The Belarusian team (three Su-25 crews) was behind the winner just eight points in the final.

The competitions that included aerial navigation and target reconnaissance also featured transport aviation, fighters and helicopters. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu put forward an initiative to hold such competitions in 2013. Partaking in Aviadarts 2014 were pilots from Belarus, China and Russia.

Russia and Belarus agreed to sign a contract for delivery of 12 Mi-17 helicopters
    Russian Aviaton » Thursday March 5, 2015 13:16 MSK

Russia and Belarus agreed to sign a contract for delivery of 12 civil Mi-17 helicopters, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov told journalists answering the question about results of the work of Russian delegation at IDEX-2015 show held in Abu-Dhabi (UAE), RIA Novosti reports.

“As for this show, we and Belarusian party have agreed to sign a contract for delivery of 12 Mi-17 helicopters,” he said.

Mi-17 is a medium multi-role helicopter, export version of Mi-8. Its flexibility and great aircraft performance made Mi-17 one of the most popular Russian helicopters in the world.

IDEX-2015 international defense exhibition and conference is held in Abu Dhabi (UAE); over 1000 companies from 52 countries are taking part in the show. Russian defense products (737 items, 100 of them are weapons and combat vehicles) are showcased by 21 companies, including nine subjects of military-technical cooperation: Rosoboronexport, Research and Production Corporation Uralvagonzavod, PVO Almaz-Antey Concern, KBP, NPO SPLAV, NPO Bazalt, etc. The show closed on February 26th 2015.
