I think that the West will think carefully about sending the F-16 because even though in the West they like to say "we can sacrifice the F-16 because we have the F-35 and we will withdraw the F-16 soon" since the shooting down of those planes will certainly have a negative impact on the imaginary and media artificially created a story about the superiority of Western aviation. And when the Western planes start to fall as well as the Russian ones, then we will see the accelerated development of rocket systems, missiles, and the re-mass production of tanks and howitzers all over the world.

Dunno what the UK plans to send, given that it doesn't have any F-16s.

Probably left overs from the Netherlands Air Force which are in storage and nobody wants (they very old, lot of hours and the wings are at their end of life (cracks forming)

Remember, for each vehicle, missile of aircraft given to UKR you get financial compensation from NATO. So it is an economic way to dump your old sh.t and get at least some money for it. Laughing

The Ministry of Defence announced the destruction of the radar and five Patriot launchers, 05.17.2023.

Ministry of Defence: On May 16, a radar station and five launchers of Patriot air defense systems were completely destroyed in Kyiv.

The Ministry of Defence announced the destruction of the Patriot in Kyiv on May 16. According to CNN, the complex received "minimal damage." The Russian military department stressed that the radar and launchers of the air defense system were completely destroyed.

On May 16, a Kinzhal hypersonic missile hit and completely destroyed a multifunctional radar station (RLS) and five launchers of the Patriot air defense system in Kyiv, the Russian Defence Ministry said.

“According to reliable data, on May 16 of this year, as a result of an attack by the Kinzhal hypersonic missile system in the city of Kiev, a multifunctional radar station was hit and completely destroyed, as well as five launchers of the US-made Patriot anti-aircraft missile system,” the report said.

Earlier, CNN, citing sources , reported that the Patriot air defense system, the destruction of which was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defence on May 16, received minimal damage and could be repaired on the territory of Ukraine.

A Patriot SAM battery usually consists of five to eight launchers with four missiles each, a radar complex, as well as a control center and power supply. Battery personnel - from 70 to 90 people.

According to the US Center for Strategic and International Studies, the cost of one Patriot battery is about $1.1 billion. According to the army, there are now 15 Patriot battalions in service (one battalion consists of four batteries).

Russia and Iran ink deal for rail link as part of intercontinental trade route

Rasht-Astara railway will form part of International North-South Transport Corridor; leaders Putin and Raisi declare it will diversify global traffic, improve Moscow-Tehran ties

The 162-kilometer (100-mile) route will run along the Caspian Sea coast and through Azerbaijan. It will be a key part of the International North-South Transport Corridor, a 7,200-kilometer (4,473-mile) combined road, rail and sea route aimed at moving goods from Russia via Central Asia to India, slashing shipping costs and times.

“The unique North-South transport artery, of which the Rasht-Astara railway will become a part, will help to significantly diversify global traffic flows,” Putin said, according to a Reuters report.

From what I understand, Azerbaijan will benefit immensely

Couple that with resumption of flights to Georgia, the whole Caucasus and Caspian region is being integrated by economy, running counter to Washington's goals

Turks, Azeris, Georgia, Iran, Russia, India can all benefit from this, so why engage in Washington's games?

Remember, for each vehicle, missile of aircraft given to UKR you get financial compensation from NATO. So it is an economic way to dump your old sh.t and get at least some money for it.

But that money does not fall from the sky and the replacement stuff has yet to be made in most cases.

Equally most of the stuff supplied was all the eastern block ex Soviet era stuff that was cheap but possibly wasn't all that safe to use so getting rid of it like this is probably useful but they would not have agreed if they didn't get it replaced with new western stuff... the problem of course is the new western stuff is more expensive so if they plan to use it their costs are going to be much higher in support and maintenance from western companies.

For the west with low production rates the cost of increasing production and instant massive demand across the board from multiple countries wanting to restock is going to be very expensive all round.

For Russia it is getting rid of stocks of old bombs and shells and missiles, which along with their new storage sites should set them right for years to come.

It wasn't that long ago Kalashnikov was complaining that the Russian Army had 17 million rifles in storage and so was not really keen to get their new weapons, well I suspect the last decade has allowed them to use up a chunk of that helping allies in Syria and Africa and now Ukraine.

The U.S. confirms that the Patriot air defense system in Ukraine is "in working order" despite damage, AFP reported, citing a U.S. defense official.

Damage caused by an unidentified projectile that landed near the system is still being assessed, he said.

US officials do not consider it necessary to withdraw Patriot air defenses from Ukraine for repairs.

The Russian gifts just keep on coming. Think this reflects yesterday and Hole's comment above plus maybe more now.

Estimated list of destroyed military facilities in Odessa
    Krasnoselka - BC warehouses
Settlement of Kotovsky - hangars with equipment
    Zatoka - hangars with equipment
    Nerubayskoye - BC warehouses
The Tsentrolit plant (Suvorovsky District), where military equipment was located, can also be added to the list of probable targets. Under Zatoka there is a railroad track on which NATO carries weapons through Romania.

    Something from Telegram

    VGTRK reporter Alexander Sladkov 👉Sladkov_plus

THE ARMED FORCES OF RUSSIA WILL EXPAND FOR A WHOLE YEAR

This is not a sudden mobilization, this is a planned measured process. We are staffing the RF Armed Forces to 1.5 million people. Well, we must not forget that we are a warring army, and for a year now we have been intensively fighting. There are dead, wounded, retirees and sick people who are dropping out of the ranks, so the work of reaching 1.5 million troops will not be easy, but doable.

Yeah, not necessary to withdraw it as there's nothing much left to withdraw

And after the attempts of Ukrainian officials to spin the damage "a Patriot system consists of several components spaced apart from each other, a single missile can't take out all of them", etc... this new claim about something landing near the system is as comical as that other report in Yahoo News about how the Patriot may have been damaged by debris from a shot-down Kinzhal.

Well this is what Putin and Biden meant by unstoppable super weapons, clearly. If the missile itself doesn't get you, the debris from shooting it down will? Very Happy

In all seriousness, if they parked these things out in an airfield, Russia should have high-res shots of the destruction there available at least the morning after to show the impact sites (if not the wrecks of the systems - though they likely cleaned that up in 8+ hours). It's not like they aren't curious as to what they actually hit and didn't...

Sounds like both sides would just prefer to keep things a mystery. Oh well, time will tell what really happened.

    It is all peepshow.
Have you noticed, that for a while there is no more bullshit about "Russkie running out of missiles"?
From the moment that NATO AD systems take the guard, a whole narrative perished.
The mighty NATO system must deal with double the number of Russkie missiles, at least!
And shoot down triple, of course!

8 years if they are lucky... a post at the front line could be an option... they have done worse than send their criminals to war... with no preparation... and no hope.

Drug them and march them towards Russian positions and note the enemy muzzle flashes to work out where they are shooting from.

I remember Desert Storm... at the time the Scud was the boogey man, while the Patriot was the hero that saved the day... despite no confirmed intercepts... well you don't spend billions to upgrade from PAC-2 to PAC-3 if it sort of worked... it uses a different missile.

Patriot needs serious upgrades in terms of its radar performance and it also needs to have a TOR or Pantsir system to protect it from drones and low flying missiles.

Just give us a blank cheque and we will get right on it...

They won't post confirmed kills though. After this, Wikipedia and other sources say PAC 3 has "confirmed" destruction of 7 or whatever Kinhzal missiles because Ukrops and Pentagon will say so, regardless the footage/pictures of the PAC 3 blowing up from direct hit or fact Russians didn't launch as many Kinhzals as proclaimed.

And 10+ years from now, if this site is still up, we will have members who will say and quote the western sources and say "see, PAC 3 works because it shot down 7 Kinhzals" or whatever nonsense.
