Russia’s Ground Forces to take part in nine international exercises in 2021

Eight of which will be held in Russia

MOSCOW, January 1. /TASS/. Russia’s Ground Forces will take part in nine international drills in 2021, eight of which will be held in Russia, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"Nine joint military exercises involving Russia’s Ground Forces and foreign troops are scheduled to take place in 2021 as part of international defense cooperation," the statement reads.

According to the Defense Ministry, Russia is expected to host six bilateral drills, including Russian-Algerian drills, the Indra-2021 Russian-Indian exercise, the Friendship-2021 Russian-Pakistani exercise, the Laros-2021 Russian-Laotian drills, Russian-Vietnamese tank exercises and Russia-Sri Lankan anti-terrorism exercise.

"In addition, the Peace Mission 2020 joint anti-terrorist drills involving Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries and the Unbreakable Brotherhood 2021 exercise involving the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization are also expected to take place in Russia," the statement said.

The ministry added that Russian troops would also participate in the Selenga 2021 Russian-Mongolian exercise.

"All exercises will be aimed at boosting peacekeeping and counterterrorism efforts," the Russian Defense Ministry emphasized.

The large flag identifies the nationality of the ship... making the Turkish flag the same size would be an Egyptian ship pretending to be Turkish...

ROSTOV-ON-DON, May 25. /TASS/. The Indra-2021 Russian-Indian joint drills will run at the Prudboi practice range in the Volgograd Region in southern Russia on August 1-15, the press office of the Southern Military District announced on Tuesday.

"The Indra-2021 joint Russian-Indian military drills will take place at the Southern Military District’s Prudboi training ground in the Volgograd Region on August 1-15 this year. The drills will involve about 250 servicemen of the Armed Forces of India and around 250 personnel of the Southern Military District," the press office said in a statement.

This decision was made at a conference of representatives of the Armed Forces of Russia and the Republic of India, the statement says.

TERMEZ, August 6. /TASS/. The active phase of the Russian-Uzbek tactical exercise Yug-2021 (South-2021), being held against a backdrop of destabilization in Afghanistan, ended near the city of Termez on Friday.

The final events of the exercise were observed by the chief of Russia's General Staff, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov and his Uzbek counterpart Major-General Shurkhat Khalmukhamedov. In a simulated special operation a joint contingent prevented illegal armed groups from crossing the state border.

The joint force conducted air reconnaissance and prevented a penetration of large armed groups. The militants were sealed off, chased and eventually eliminated in a rural community.

"The scenario of the exercise was based on the Russian military's experience obtained in operations against illegal armed groups in Syria," the commander of Russia's Central Military Region, Mikhail Teplinsky, told the media.

Participating in the exercise were about 1,500 men from the two countries, up to 200 pieces of military equipment and special vehicles and four planes Tupolev-22M3 of Russia's aerospace force.

As far as I know, the Boomerang failed tests on the ergonomics of the combat compartment and went for redesign

They already tested italian Centoro similar to this chinese tank. I don't think they were happy with the design since 30mm equiped vehicles have the advantage over this thing.

It's poorly armored and would be easily destroyed. Specially at close range where rpg will be quicker to use than using this gun.

There needs to be a need. In most cases these days, light tanks and or IFV based systems with multiple weapon systems are far more ideal than these as fighting infantry doesn't require a 120mm cannon (as seen and experienced in Chechnya, twice).

While it's an interesting concept, it isn't widely adopted for a reason. A 120mm cannon is overkill for most targets this thing would combat against while its armor is far to weak to handle any hits from let's say a 30mm rounds used on modern IFV's. And it definately would not last against a tank.

My understanding was that the vehicle was too small and they made it bigger to handle all the extra gear from Ratnik for each soldier... it consists of nets covering the sides of the vehicle where backpacks and equipment can be hung for the troops inside the vehicle.

The frontal armour of Boomerang should be excellent against enemy 30mm cannons and smaller at 2km range, which means a 125mm gun armed Boomerang would kick arse against something like a Bradley because at 2km the 25mm cannon of the American vehicle would do very little damage to the Boomerang, while the damage a 125mm tank round could do to a Bradley or any other enemy BMP would be obvious.

The future direction is to make Boomerang divisions where all 27 vehicle types in each division is Boomerang based, so logistics just need to carry one type of wheel, and support one engine and transmission type and work with one vehicle to support the entire unit.

That means putting Sprut or T-14 turrets on one to make it a tank...

Any obstacle they come across the mobility will be similar... all amphibious, all wheeled... similar protection all latest weapons and communications equipment.

The Typhoon family of four and six wheeled vehicles might be too light for the 125mm gun of the Sprut, but the Sprut is an 18 ton light tank so it is about 8 tons lighter than the Boomerang tank will weigh...

Long range accurate powerful fire power is always useful... it is the 70 ton super heavy tank that breaks all the bridges and ruins roads that is not wanted much of the time.
