Why so much negativity about palm oil.

Palm oil is the most important ingredient for making all kinds of fatty acids that are used in a vast number of consumer goods such as shampoos, creams, detergents and many other personal care products that you guys (and girls) use on a daily basis.

Russia and every other country that has an industry needs palm oil.

Sad to see the Indonesians opting out of the Su-35 deal.
Then again, they were never a great client of Russia (having revealed secrets of previous Soviet weapons to the USA).

Having said that, they still buy Russian weaponry up to now:
Here is one of the recent Indonesian acquisitions from Russia:
An Indonesian warship equipped with the new Russian AU-220M 57mm gun created by Burevestnik in NIzhni-Novgorod.

Problem is that it does not end up in cosmetics but in food

The less of it there is available the smaller the odds are of it ending up in food because it will nave to be used in cosmetics

But when there's cheap surplus of it around it all goes into food

The biggest controversy about palm oil is not that it can go into food.
The huge palm plantations came by deforestation of tropical forests.
    Anyways, we are off topic.

No need, there are no sanctions from the US on buying from the US itself. France might be screwed over again ofc thumbsup

It's a shame but if they want to stay a mickey-mouse country then we can't stop them.

Even the Philippines, a country with far less potential and population, has no qualms about increasing defense orders from Russia.

Russia is endlessly criticized in NATzO media for its alleged use of economic leverage on its neighbors to pursue its interests, but when America does it it's championed as a successful tool to advance American interests  Rolling Eyes

Indonesia’s $22 Billion Purchases of US, French Fighter Jets: How Russia’s Su-35 Lost Out

The Indonesian acquisitions are notable, first, for their scale, with $22 billion worth of purchases being a tremendous sum even for larger arms importers such as Saudi Arabia or Japan and representing a major escalation of defense spending. At the same time, the new deals also reflect the success of U.S. efforts to expand the market share of Western armaments using threats of economic sanctions.

Is there a way for Russia to put pressure on Indonesia to scrap this deal with the US? If not, then the Su-35's that's originally destined for Indonesia should be sold instead to Indonesia's regional rivals (which doesn't seem to be much other than China), or to countries that resist American imperialism like Iran, North Korea or Venezuela. America needs to understand that any attempts to sabotage Russian business with our countries will result in increased threats to American national security.

It is not Indonesia that needs to be punished... it is the US... so perhaps a tax or tariff on Russian oil and gas sales to US companies to cover the losses... the funds can go directly to the companies missing out on contracts which they can use to fund upgrades and improvements to their products to make them even better.

Indonesia confirms intention to acquire advanced Russian Su-35 fighters, 09.08.2022.

VLADIVOSTOK, RUSSIA (Sputnik) - The Indonesian Ambassador to Russia, Jose Tavares, confirmed his country's intention to buy the advanced Russian Su-35 fighters despite the opposition of the United States.

"Military cooperation with Russia continues (...) We have an agreement with this country and we will not annul it. (...)The agreement still stands, its implementation is only a matter of time," Tavares told Sputnik on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum hosted by the Russian city of Vladivostok from September 5 to 8.

The ambassador stressed that his country has always bought weapons from different nations and will continue to do so.
Indonesia plans to acquire 11 Su-35 fighters to bolster its national security. From Russia they denounced that the Asian country faces strong pressure from "certain states" to desist from the deal.

The Bloomberg News agency assured that the White House insistently "recommended" Indonesia to avoid acquiring Russian fighter jets or Chinese warships so as not to undermine the US military dominance.

According to the local newspaper Kompas, an alleged anonymous source of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense would have advanced to that agency that his country intended to desist from the Russian fighters.

The Su-35 is a super-maneuverable fighter of the 4++ generation developed by the Sukhoi company.
