That's about a week of fighting worth of ammo. Basically nothing really matters there.

We've been through this before.

let's split those 1.7 million rounds er calibre.

1 mio 7.62x39 and 700K 7.62R

1mio rounds that's about 900 guys fighting for a week for ISIS. (5 magazines a day per 30 rounds). Which we know isn't exactly how it works with the Isis guys.
700K rounds that's about 300 guys with PKM's fighting for a week (3 100rnd bands a day). That get slashed to 150 guys if they get 3 200 rnd cans. Again we know that's not how it goes for those guys. But OK.
The only issue I have are the 14.5mm stock which is huge that's a lot of firepower, but again as any given ZPU/KPV will get about 200/300 rounds to spend daily (best guesstimation) per let's say 20 Technicals that's a month worth of ammo more or less. And the mortar rounds.

Now 20mm? Syrians had Yugo AA guns?

The rest is IED material.

So basically the ammo dump you see is literally bullshit when it comes to the size of the front these guys are covering.

The SAA has reportedly cut the north-south ISIS supply route between Ithriyah and Palmyra. The only supply route remaining open is that betwen Palmyra and Deir ez-Zor. So Isis has a choice, defend Palmyra or defend Deir ez-Zor. If Deir ez-Zor goes, then Palmyra will inevitably follow. Nice!

The bad news from Palmyra don't stop:

On Monday morning, a Russian missile struck the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions in the Palmyra countryside, killing 17 soldiers and wounding 26 others during a fierce battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

According to a battlefield correspondent that is embedded with the Syrian Armed Forces in the Palmyra countryside, the Russian missile hit a group of soldiers from the Syrian Marines, killing the entire unit and their commander ‘Ali Rahmoun.

The friendly-fire took place near the Palmyra Triangle, where the Syrian Armed Forces are currently advancing amid fierce resistance from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham.

The incident was not intentional; however, poor coordination was cited as the reason for the friendly-fire that killed 17 Syrian Marines.

Several western publications reported that ISIS killed 26 Syrian soldiers in Palmyra today; this is incorrect – the majority of the casualties today came as a result of friendly-fire.

The Syrian and Russian armed forces have yet to comment on this matter because of the ongoing investigation.

There is a photo of an unused ATGM casing with a serial number and an image of the control box. This too shows the serial number and more amusingly a US Army annual calibration certificate. It was apparently last checked by the US military 17 April 2014 and was due to be checked on 17 April 2015.
