The first two ships under this contract are "Vigilant" (serial number 509) and "Impeccable" ( serial number 510) were commissioned in 2017 and 2018. The third ship with the serial number 511 has actually been in the slipway stage of construction since 2017 and was officially laid down September 4, 2018. In 2019, it received the name "Rasul Gamzatov" (in honor of the people's poet of Dagestan) for continuity with the eponymous Caspian PSKR of project 10410 written off in the same year. The contract deadline for the delivery of PSKR of project 22460 with serial number 511 was December 2018.

However, it was only on December 21, 2019 that Rasul Gamzatov was launched , and after that he remained at the wall of the construction plant for about a year and a half, awaiting installation. a new combat module, which the previous ships of this project 22460 were not equipped with, and which is a new version of the Gibka anti-aircraft missile turret launcher for the use of Igla and Verba anti-aircraft missiles, as well as ATGMs of the Ataka family. Only in May 2021, the combat module was installed on Rasul Gamzatov, after which, in July 2021, factory sea trials were started in the Baltic. In October 2021 "Rasul Gamzatov"was towed from St. Petersburg along the inland waterways to Astrakhan, after which it moved from there to Makhachkala, where it was now put into operation. She became the second PSKR of project 22460, serving in the Caspian Sea, after the second ship in the series "Brilliant", which was commissioned back in 2012.

Prior to Rasul Gamzatov , the Almaz shipbuilding company has built ten Project 22460 border patrol ships since 2010, and Vostochnaya Verf JSC in Vladivostok has built three more ships. Further construction of the series was discontinued.

The name is Novorossysk.

Is there a chance, that Russia repair and modernize one or two of them and deliver them to DNR NAVY? Now with Mariupol port liberated, DNR have place to create their NAVY and they will need ships to patrol in Black sea.

I suspect they will want the former bits of the Ukraine to be demilitarised and Russian ships could perform that role for them on their behalf... it would save them money... and do a better job than any force they could muster anyway.

They need more miners than sailors.

Perhaps a few ships might be allowed to sail under their flag with a portion of the crew from the DNR or LNR or other regions, but they would be better off focusing on production and working to earn their way out of their situation.

Russia want to demilitarize Ukraine, not DNR and LNR, who are most important allies in region and they will be important counter weight to the rest of Ukraine. Black sea is very important region and it is good to have an ally fleet there as well. Russia recognized independent states of DNR and LNR, so they are not Ukraine.

Last year alone, more than 40 units of the ship's composition entered service with the coast guard units.

“In the line of border guards, the ships of the first rank of project 22100 Ocean, which began to enter service in 2017, should be especially noted. Such ice-class ships have not been built before. They are capable of providing long-term autonomous patrols in the Arctic latitudes,” military expert, Captain 1st Rank Konstantin Puteev told Gazeta.Ru.

The Ocean project was developed at the Central Marine Design Bureau Almaz (TsMKB) specifically for the needs of the BOHR. Previously, ships for the Coast Guard were only adapted versions of the ships of the Russian Navy.

“The design includes the possibility of an ice course - the ship is able to independently overcome areas where the ice surface is 70-80 cm.

According to the terms of reference, the ships will be operated in the Far North and the Far East, but if necessary, they can also operate in tropical waters. The main purpose of the ships is patrolling and guarding the Russian maritime border, ensuring the economic interests of the Russian Federation at sea, controlling the economic zone and fishing.

The border service has its own aviation, which has more than 80 patrol and transport aircraft, as well as about 200 helicopters. Of the new ones, this is the Ka-226T light multi-purpose helicopter.

“This is a versatile helicopter. Very small, but powerful enough. The machine is equipped with two gas turbine engines. Now these are French Arrius 2G1 engines, but in 2023 they will be replaced by domestic VK-650V engines, which are already undergoing engineering tests. The cruising speed of the Ka-226T is 220 km/h, and the takeoff weight reaches 3600 kg. Due to its relative compactness, the Ka-226T can land almost anywhere. This is very important for the tasks that the border guards solve, ” Sergey Belousov , a member of the Collegium of Military Experts, told Gazeta.Ru .

The Border Guard Service is very active today in exploiting unmanned aerial vehicles. Mostly the border guards use the devices of the Zala family, which are produced in Izhevsk.

“This is a whole line of UAVs. Both aircraft and helicopter type. All complexes have a shock-resistant case, a navigation and communication system. The image from the drones is transmitted to the computer screen of the person on duty. The complexes themselves barrage in the air for more than four to six hours. During this time, the UAV is able to fly around and scan a section of 20-30 km of the border more than a dozen times. After the power reserve ends, the next drone is launched. So they replace each other, and the border section is under permanent control,” said military expert, candidate of technical sciences, reserve colonel Sergey Banchenko.

The Rubicon system is also used for border control, which replaces traditional barbed wire fences.

“This is a system of sensors located on the control strip. They allow you to determine the direction of movement, speed and route of the border violator in real time. With such parameters, it is easy to distinguish an animal from a person.

This information is also sent to the computer on duty, which makes all decisions remotely. Border security today resembles a computer game. At the same time, the Rubicon can operate in a fully automatic mode. Independently decide which object, based on the signal from the Rubicon, requires additional research. And if required, then an additional drone will be sent to this area.
