    I wonder if existing 11356/22350 will be also biffed up (11356 = 16 UKSK + 36 |Shtil-1; 22350 - 24 too ?)
Only if the 11356 were actually built with the interior space & weight available. I don't think they were.

As previously discussed 22350 hasn't got room for a 3rd UKSK module due to the Packet launchers either side, doesn't appear to be space fore-aft and I doubt was built with space/weight allowed.

    It doesn't have room currently

But if they drop redundant oversized 130mm main gun and replace it with something more reasonable like 75mm or 57mm there would be plenty of space for extra UKSK set

As a modification of already built ships? No friggin way.
I don't forsee Russia giving up on The King of the Battlefield, Russia likes its Artillery & I disagree that its redundant.

Not modification, current ships stay as is

I am talking about ones that are yet to be laid down

They will have to drop superguns if they want to have 24 UKSK cells, otherwise they will have to redesign the hull and we all know that will take at least a decade given their track record (they should know it as well by now)

And oversized guns are definitely redundant, 75mm is more than plenty for frigates

I was responding to the suggestion that the already laid down/completed ones would get an upgrade.

And oversized guns are definitely redundant, 75mm is more than plenty for frigates
Russia put 100mm guns on 900ton missile boats...

130mm on 22350 is appropriate size imo.
Its a modern, lightweight mount, had some teething issues but apparently well sorted now.

Also Western navies are trending toward 127mm instead of 'traditional' 76mm so its in line with that trend.

I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I drink that Diet "Coke" crap

Give me old school sugar or GTFO

Diet coke is mandatory... otherwise the joke does not work... big fat man walks in to fast food restaurant and orders 10 Happy meals... asks if there is any guarantee regarding how happy it will make him. When asked if it is dine in or take away he says it is dine in and the drink he wants is a diet coke because of his diet...

Bigger guns are more useful... the development of guided shells and special purpose shells and even super long range shells makes a gun much more flexible and useful than a missile.

Try firing a warning shot with a missile.

With modern computing and guided shells and the new high rate of fire 152mm twin barrel gun they should be able to fire 20 shells per minute quite easily and have them all follow slightly different trajectories and land at the same time... which would equate to roughly 860kgs of HE and fragments hitting target all at once... that would be freaking devastating...

The advantage of a big ship is having the space for that sort of thing...

It seems MoD doesn't read enough Western media to know they are bankrupt and cannot pursue a blue water navy Razz
They seem to be getting progressively more serious about it, that is very nice to see.

So it will be 6 Gorshkovs in total and 4 being built in parallel in Severnaya Verf if I am not wrong. Hopefully they keep that level of parallel build for many years, if the shipyard can sustain that the navy more than needs modern frigates, regardless of what happens with 22350M, which is functionally a destroyer after all.

Will the Gorshkovs have their missile capacity increased to 24-32, and the Ivan-Gren issues managed?
6 years is 10-12 like the first 2 Gorshkovs but still a long time.

On April 21, 2019, the second frigate of project 22350 “Admiral of the Kasatonov fleet”, built for the Russian Navy at PJSC Shipyard “Severnaya Verf” (St. Petersburg, part of United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC - USC), went to sea for the second stage of the factory running tests. It is reported that this stage ZHI will last 21 days. The ship is scheduled to be transferred to the fleet by the end of 2019.

It is, started trials same day. (pics & vid in the 20380 thread)

Has there ever been a breakdown on the technical details of Poliment?
Like how many T/R modules its got, what their layout is within the panels, range for 1m^2 detection, how many targets it can track/engage simultaneously.

Its quite odd how Russia seems to be quite hush hush about its capabilites when they're quite open about capabilities of other systems.
