I think these are part of DoD/CIA advisors with firepower. Among them you have Seals (check for US flag rolled on their backs).

I think these guys for all their prowess, are relying too much on the Kurds. Whose C² has been proven severly lacking (not further than yesterday) therefore they walked into a firefight with Daesh before even blinking.

Iraqi Army has successfully led a new battle to rid several villages dotted around the south plains of Mosul of ISIS. The battles took place primarily at night, during the day ISIS activity is low as they try to avoid air strikes. However both the Iraqi Air Force F16 and the Coalition air forces have night capability so these tactics did not help ISIS as much as they had hoped. Iraqi Army have night time fighting units to handle the night assaults against ISIS held villages. ISIS was severely crippled in battles at night, lacking the power to see the Iraqi forces as they advanced and destroyed the ISIS presence. 36 ISIS fighters were killed in the battle. Injuries and escapees are unknown as they had withdrawals to other positions in small units across a 3 day period to hide from the air forces. Iraqi Army has consolidated these new positions and is reinforcing them to continue the advance against ISIS in their stronghold of Mosul. The continued support for the Iraqi forces and the sacrifices of the Iraqi people has led to these victories against ISIS.
