Yes, mighty photos. Even highly limited but combined ballistic and winged missile strikes is something few nation on Earth can hope to survive and not one of them is

    in EU.

Do you know the number of launchers per brigade?

    - launchers and reload vehicles (as I managed to find it is 12 launchers and 12 reload) but still I remember reading about up to 24 launchers

    (120 launchers in 5 brigades by 2015)

    - found it

According to the plans, announced in early 2011, during the execution of the state armaments program for 2011-2020 gg (Adopted 31.12.2010) plans to supply the armed forces of 10 missile brigades complexes "Iskander-M". August 1, 2011 Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia D.Bulgakov said that all Russian aircraft into service is planned to take 120 complexes "Iskander". In 2011, between the Ministry of Defence of Russia and NPK "MSC" a contract for the supply of brigade sets of complexes "Iskander-M" ballistic and cruise missiles.

So its 12 launchers and 12 reloads per brigade.

and from the same link we have

2007 is planned to start arming complexes missile brigades: the composition - 3 missile battalion, each with three batteries - each 3 SPU and tools to ensure - total in the orbr 27 complexes and 100 missiles for them . Including planned to equip complexes 103rd ORBR SibVO and 107 th ORBR FEB (as of 2009 these teams do not re-started or not reported).

Where we have much bigger composition.confused

The Iskander-K uses a '500km' range cruise missile most likely based on the 2,500km range Kalibr.

BTW those vehicle covers appear to be the ballistic missile equivalent of Nakidka... nice.

The Iskander-K vehicle that was shown at AMKS-2007 had a raised roof and two rows of missiles. The vehicle that was revealed a few days ago to the Defense Minister does not have the raised deck and has only one row of missiles. But, I am not sure the missiles are the same. The missile containers from the MAKS-2007 show look a bit smaller to me.
    Please have another look.

The vehicle and missiles from MAKS-2007:

All Russian Missile Brigades to Get Iskander Systems by 2018

MOSCOW, June 28 (RIA Novosti) – Iskander-M ballistic missile systems, which can effectively engage two targets within a minute at a range of up to 280 kilometers, will be provided to all Russian Ground Forces missile brigades by 2018, the country’s defense minister said Friday.

The missiles have a non-ballistic flight path that is difficult for the enemy to predict and are guided throughout their flight.

On Friday, a missile brigade in southern Russia’s Astrakhan Region received an advanced Iskander-M missile complex, which “has no match in the world for its tactical specifications,” Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on a visit to the facility, Russian media reported.

The complex was delivered in a complete set, rather than “piecemeal” as previously done, the minister said. He stressed the importance of ensuring high personnel-training standards and the construction of new infrastructure for the system to be operated effectively.

In 2011, then-President Dmitry Medvedev announced plans to deploy Iskander missiles in Russia’s westernmost Kaliningrad Region, to counter the threat posed by US plans to deploy missile defense elements in Europe. NATO and the United States have insisted that the shield would defend NATO members against missiles from North Korea and Iran and would not be directed at Russia.

Russia proposed a joint missile defense system, an idea that many experts both at home and abroad dismiss as unviable and unrealistic. Then it demanded “legally binding guarantees” that US/NATO missiles would not be aimed at Russia.

Since Moscow’s proposal received a lukewarm response in the West, Russia has been warning of unspecified low-cost “asymmetric measures” to counter the future Western missile defense system.

The original Iskander can raise both of the missiles it carries one at a time or together, perhaps the cruise missile version has two cruise missiles on each of the weapon raising hydraulic systems so it can raise two missiles or four?

Each of the Iskander missiles lay side by side in the launcher so perhaps the two twin cruise missiles do the same.

I did not read the artice carefully at first (arms-tass.su) - had not time in recent days and did not understand that this is a second Iskander brigade delivered this year. This is just great.

But what thrills me the most is the part which says that starting 2013, each year 2 Iskander brigade sets will be delivered. That means that by 2020 Russian army will have much more

than 10 Iskander brigade sets ordered in 2011. Very Happy

Russian Missile Troops Test-Fire Iskander Systems During Military Drills

MOSCOW, June 2 (RIA Novosti) – Russian armed forces are conducting a routine check of the military units in the country’s Western Military District, equipped with long-range high-precision Iskander missiles, the Ministry of Defense stated Monday.

From May 27 to June 5, missile troops of the Western Military District will take part in the war games together with the Long-Range Aviation Command. The troops are equipped with tactical ballistic missile system Iskander-M and long-range aircraft.

The main objective of the exercise is to train to engage vital targets with high-precision missiles and test the level of preparedness of various control systems and equipment responsible for electronic warfare and intelligence gathering. The efficiency of targeting will be evaluated by unmanned aircraft.

The Ministry of Defense did not specify in which region the exercise was taking place. Earlier the Russian government mentioned a possibility of deploying Iskander missiles to the Kaliningrad region, a westernmost Russian enclave in Europe surrounded by Poland and Lithuania.

In December last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the decision about placing Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad had not yet been made, with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov further explaining that “it’s up to the military to decide when there’s a need to deploy.”

The discussion about the deployment of Iskander missiles resumed this year after NATO’s statement about “unprecedented” activity of the US and NATO in Eastern Europe.

Russia’s tactical ballistic missile system Iskander is one of the country’s most powerful missiles stationed with the nation’s ground forces. Iskander missiles are nuclear-capable and can make use of different types of reentry vehicles to engage a wide range of targets, from enemy military units to underground command centers.

Iskander systems were successfully tested in 2007. The Russian army currently uses its Iskander-M and Iskander-K variants. There is also an export version, dubbed Iskander-E, with just one rocket on the ballistic missile launcher instead of two and the range of up to 280 kilometers.

Equally the threat of the Iskander is not that you don't know it is coming... the threat is that your interceptors can't anticipate an accurate interception point because it is continuously manouvering... satellite early warning does not change that.

The A-60 is nowhere near in service?

They have at least three for testing AFAIK, and if testing is successful then small scale production is likely based on the new Il-476 base aircraft.

Besides the size of laser that can be fitted into a large transport aircraft is limited... a ground installation could be connected to mains power and be rather larger and placed in major centres in Russia to target space based optics. On command they could relatively quickly engage visible satellites and take them out.

Russia’s Iskander-E Missile System Ready for Deliveries to Other Countries

MINSK, July 10 (RIA Novosti) – Iskander-E mobile theater ballistic missile systems are ready for export, awaiting a decision by state authorities, the head of the Russian delegation to arms and military exhibition MILEX-2014 Valery Varlamov said Thursday.

"Iskander-E [NATO reporting name: SS-26 Stone] is ready for deliveries to other countries, as well as S-400 Triumf [NATO reporting name: SA-21 Growler], but the state authorities need to approve it first," Varlamov said.

The representative said that Russia "will deliver [the systems] to any country, if there is such a decision of the president and the government."

A few years ago, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that S-400 will be produced only in the interests of Russia. Even partners such as Belarus and Kazakhstan will receive them only after the Russian missile defense system is fully equipped, the ministry said.

No such statements have been made about Iskander in public, but in practice the situation is the same, a source in the Russian military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti.

Iskander is one of the country’s most powerful missile strike systems used in the nation’s ground forces.

Iskander-E is an export version, with just one rocket on the ballistic missile launcher instead of two, and a range of up to 174 miles.

Russian Defense Ministry to get two Iskander-M missile systems

Russia sends Iskander and S-400 Triumph systems to Minsk to take part in parade
MOSCOW, July 18./ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Defense Ministry this year will receive two sets of the Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile system to equip the missile brigades, a source in the military-industrial complex told ITAR-TASS on Friday.

“The delivery of the first this year and third in succession brigade set will be made today under the contract, signed in 2011 between Russian Defense Ministry and the NPK Machine Building Design Bureau (included into the JSC NPO Vysokotochnye kompleksy (High Precision Systems), the source said.

“The main feature of the contract is the package supply of the tactical ballistic missile systems. The Defense Ministry previously had to purchase the system’s elements separately under separate contracts with each enterprise of the co-operation,” said the source.

Russia to test-launch Iskander-M missiles, missiles from bombers — defense ministry
Under the contract, the Machine Building Design Bureau shall deliver to the troops two sets of the system annually. In 2013, the Iskander systems were delivered in accordance with the schedule approved by the Ministry of Defense. This year’s second (fourth in succession) brigade set of the Iskander-M system will be sent to the customers in November.

Iskander-M (NATO reporting name SS-26 Stone) is a version of the Iskander tactical missile system supplied to the Russian Armed Forces. It is capable of hitting targets deep inside the enemy lines. The system’s firing range is up to 500 km. The complex comprises a launcher with two missiles, a missile-transporter loader, a command post vehicle, a technical maintenance vehicle, a set of arsenal equipment, a data processing unit, as well as training facilities.

New missile created for Iskander-M complex is in current testing phase:

Russia to test a new missile Iskander-M

The Design Department of Industrial Machine Kolomenskoye (KBM) has begun testing a new missile that will be installed on the Russian tactical missile system Iskander-M.

The company director Valery Kashin, who has not revealed what type of missiles are those who have entered the testing phase, has only said that it was created specifically for the Iskander . A source from the military-industrial complex, cited by Itar-Tass announced Friday that the Russian Defense Ministry will receive this year, according to the contract of 2011, two Iskander-M systems to equip their brigades. It should be noted that last year the troops and received first Iskander missile systems equipped with a new control system. Iskander systems is one of the most powerful defense of the Russian ground forces. You can achieve different enemy targets and, if necessary, you can carry a nuclear warhead. So far there have been versions of Iskander-M and Iskander-K, for the Russian Army and the export version of Iskander-E, which is equipped with one missile in the launcher instead of two. 's Iskander- M is considered an element strategic tensions between Russia and the U.S. due to missile shield NATO has deployed in Europe. Already last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that "the missile shield in Europe continues to pose a threat to the Russian nuclear arsenal" and that the system Iskander is just a form of defense "against a possible threat."

Russian Army to Equip Ground Forces With ‘Iskander’ Missiles by 2018

MOSCOW, August, 5 (RIA Novosti) - The missile brigades of Russia’s Ground Forces will be equipped with advanced weaponry and hardware, including the 9K720 Iskander (SS-26 Stone) theater ballistic missile systems, as part of the 2020 state rearmament program, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said during a teleconference.

“In order to bring Iskander missiles into use, the army needs adequate infrastructure” the minister added.

In 2008, Russia launched the most extensive reorganization of its armed forces in its history. The army command system experienced a major transformation, with the overall size of the army reducing, and an increased proportion of professional troops compared to conscripted recruits. There has been a significant increase in the salaries of officers, who are also seeing their housing problems resolved.

Still, the main outcome of the reform is the unprecedented army re-equipment program. The percentage of advanced weapons in the army has already hit 16 percent and is expected to reach 70 percent before 2020.

“The government has appropriated immense funds for army re-equipment. I would note that back in 2003 the overall budget of the Defense Ministry was 600 billion rubles ($16.7 billion). This year, expenses for the Defense Ministry are running at 2.3 trillion rubles ($64 billion),” Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting on rearmament and industrial defense complex modernization.

The Defense Ministry is planning to increase the share of advanced weaponry in the army to 30 percent in 2014. Russian Strategic Missile Forces regiments are to be equipped with RS-24 Yars (SS-27 Mod 2) mobile ballistic systems. Additionally, the ministry plans to rearm the Kozelsk missile unit with RS-24 Yars fixed missile systems.

MOSCOW, August 13./ITAR-TASS/. Iskander missile system will not be exported until 2016, an official said on Wednesday.

All potential customers had been informed through the state weapon producer agency Rosoboronexport, said deputy director for import and export department at the Kolomna Machine-Building design bureau (KBM), Georgy Kuzyk.

Supplies of Iskander export version had to be suspended as there was no chance to increase the capacity, he added. “Votkinsk plant is already working at full capacity. The factory manufactures a huge range of products but only several shops produce Iskander,” Kuzyk said.

For the same reason, he added, the KBM could not expand production for the Russian Ministry of Defence.

The design bureau’s Director General Valery Kashin earlier said the plant was ready to export the systems but recommended that foreign customers did not request supplies until 2015. This was due to a long-term contract with the Russian Ministry of Defence that forced the plant to boost output 4-5 times, he said adding the company and Rosoboronexport had already resumed efforts to promote Iskander export.

Kazakhstan was reported to be interested in importing Iskander-M on Monday. Kuzyk said “negotiations are at the initial stage”.
