Oh, that guy is one of those "foreign policy experts" on Finnish TV (EDIT: yes jhelb, you're correct   ), atleast he was back in 2014-15, I really stopped watching Finnish news after that (you can guess why). But he didn't seem like an actual full-on Russophobe, and his tweets seem to confirm that atleast, but that is of course not saying much.

I also just love how they keep using the basically totally fake "hybrid war" term, i.e. a conspiracy theory. It's a grand narrative on Russia, in which the whole country and Putin can be blamed for literally everything and anything. If you are not 100% convinced, if you don't believe the Western MSM's Russia bashing, you're just a victim of Putler's "hybrid warfare". That shit every time... you can't make it up. They don't see the problem in any of that?

I'm sorry that I'm not convinced of your great Russophobic theories, which have been proven to be fake news. Among so many others, 1. Putin killing journalists and dissidents have been proven to be statistically nonsense, 2. Westerners really do believe it was Russia that started the Georgian war (talk about propaganda...) and 3. using either totally BS or atleast a decade old narratives on Russian demographics and living standard and social indicators... and the list goes on and on. US is doing same violation by supplying same weapon to Poland , and there is also intend to supply it to Japan too. What is Russia going to do abut it? Nothing, they don't even mention it.

The missile is the same but with less fuel for export version. Countries like india or north korea or iran could make it longer range by puting more fuel. They already did that with Scud.

For me the bottom line is:
1. 40N6 is the intended main armament of S-500 (in addition to 77N6)!
2. It is still in field trials and minor changes are necessary.
3. the missile is longer than 48N6 and has small control surfaces
3. S-400 will take the benefit to receive this weapon (~2019) in addition to (the smaller) 48N6

This means in 2020 we have
S-400 with 48N6 (standard) + 40N6 (advanced) and
S-500 with 40N6 (standard) + 77N6 (advanced)

BTW: the 9M96 (originally intended as secondary weapon for S-300PMU2) will be the main armament of S-350. The deployment of this system (even a detachment to Syria was mentioned) was planned for last year.

Field Trials are something different than "Tests".

48N6DM is already in service and used extensively. 40N6 is been testing for years. It's undergone changes, and so has the plant that it was designed/made in. Its performance has apparently changed for the better, and I can see why S-500 would use it as main missile.

Photos of 40N6 has existed for years. Actual use of it, no. But then again, same went with the later variants of the 9M83 but we know it exists. 40N6 is odd.

40N6 missile testing is in its final phase,w/ one more set of tests planned for April-May 2018. The missile should enter service this summer. This rather elusive long-range missile is, according to Izvestia, intended for both S-400 & S-500 SAM systems.
