Russia is by far the country which most developed its arctic. Since the early 20th century there are railroads to Murmansk. There are also railroad to Norilsk, and it comes close to Yakutsk (there is still the problem of crossing the Lena river). Russia has the largest fleet of icebreakers, and the only ones ever built propelled by nuclear reactors. And half of the population of the Arctic are Russians, and the biggest towns also.
On the other hand, I have a cousin and a sister-in-law living in Canada for more than 6 years. None has ever been to the North. Now, reading the article you mention, I understand why: $3000 for a plane seat from Toronto to Iqaluit!

See, I thought the war made sense from the resource stealing, dollar propping, imperialist, neo-colonial point of view as it was. Adding aliens to the mix just makes it so much more convincing, in-fact, next time you present an argument against American Imperialism to one of your uninformed acquaintances, I'd just throw all the hard unearthed facts that have emerged through the blood sweat and tears of honest journalists and philosophical logic completely out the window! Just say ALIENS! That sure won't send them running back into the arms of the government narrative!

Oil exports from Iraq to the United States did not increase significantly after 2003, nor did the price drop. THe "neo colonial theory" of invasion is almost certainly bunk.

We will not know for sure what the reason was or if it even existed (rather than a mix of Republicans' own stupidity + lobbying from numerous groups)

The prices did not change much in the wake of the 1950s Suez crisis as the US settled in to be the controller of Middle East oil.
Control is not about price gouging. Colonialism is not just about oil.

Hahahahahaa... no... of course America invaded Iraq and destroyed the government because they love Iraqis and wanted them to have the freedom they enjoy... NOT.

The Americans levelled the country and then American companies rebuilt the country... it is no accident that Halliburton made billions of dollars in the post 2000 period on construction projects in Iraq alone. Also not an accident that the board of Halliburton is filled with ex military types and politicians because they have friends in the service and in government so they can get all the juicy contracts.

America doesn't need control of oil fields... what they need are producers of oil to keep pumping the stuff so the market price is low... that lowers utility costs in the US with all those oil fired central heating systems and of course reduces transport costs.

Blow the hell out of any oil producing country and of course they will pump oil to pay the bills to reconstruct their country... it doesn't matter if they don't sell a drop to the US... they will use US dollars and they will pump oil to keep the oil price down... both of which help pay for that overgrown military the US has.

It's not about the amount that's available... Supply can only meet demand. It's to do with the dollars the oil is sold with.

Indeed. The petro-dollar racket. The US can print dollars like Pancho Villa and not suffer the inflationary consequences because the
world absorbs them. Trading oil in dollars globally creates a demand for dollars. Saddam and Qaddafi both declared that they would
use other currencies to trade oil. Both died at the hands of the US and its minions.

The deceased suspect in the car-and-knife attack on Ohio State University in Columbus has been identified. The college-aged man of Somali descent injured 11 when he crashed his car into a group of people then attacked them with a butcher knife. The incident began when a car rammed into people outside of Watts Hall around 9:40am local time. The driver got out of the car, armed with a butcher knife and began attacking the group, OSU officials said in an afternoon press conference. Officials identified the suspect as OSU student Abdul Razak Ali Artan. He was a legal permanent resident from Somalia, according to NBC News’ Tom Winter.

Ohio state knifeman ranted about how he was 'sick and tired of seeing my fellow Muslim brothers being killed and tortured' on social media hours before wounding 11

N.America (US & Canada) articles and news Proxy

Somali refugee Abdul Razak Ali Artan posted on Facebook that he was 'sick and tired of seeing my fellow Muslim brothers being killed and tortured' shortly before he went on a slashing rampage at the Ohio State University that left 11 injured.

Authorities are currently investigating the posts, allegedly made by Artan, which mention radical cleric Anwar Awlaki and accuse America of 'interfering' with other nations. 'I am sick and tired of seeing my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters being killed and tortured EVERYWHERE,' it stated. 'I can't take it anymore. 'America! Stop interfering with other countries, especially Muslim Ummah (communities)... [if] you want us Muslims to stop carrying lone wolf attacks.'

'We are not weak, remember that,' the post said, according to NBC News. Two hours before that, another post read: 'Forgive and forget. Love.' Artan left at least 11 injured - on of whom critically - after he drove onto the sidewalk at the university on Monday afternoon, mowing down the crowds of innocent bystanders, witnesses say. He then jumped out of the car and began slashing victims with a butcher knife, according to police.

Wonder if he shouted "Islam is a religion of love and forgiveness" as he was trying to murder those people.... Sad

Sadly this chap will be treated by the western media as a sick deranged fool for killing other random people for what he believes in, but when the US president orders bombers into some country because he is not happy with the dictator in power there at the moment... whether the US put him there or supported him with weapons when he was behaving or not... will demand respect and be considered the moral leader of the world...

Muslims living in Christian countries are lucky, whenever they are harassed the government and people are quick to condemn the perpetrators and support the victims, The opposite however is what happens to Christians living in Muslim majority countries, where can the persecuted Christians seek help? They are either forced to convert to Islam or kicked out from the place they live. I will never changed my negative view of Muslims until they make Real changes on the treatment of non muslims in islamic countries.
