Syrian forces preparing for launching offensive in Palmyra

Sappers are demining approaches to the ancient site, SANA news agency reports

BEIRUT, March 23. /TASS/. The Syrian government army supported by self-defense forces have regained control over the El-Hayal mountains to the south-west of ancient Palmyra, SANA news agency reported on Wednesday.

A representative of the Syrian army told SANA that the government forces are currently preparing for a decisive offensive at Palmyra in two kilometers from the city while sappers are demining approaches to the ancient site.

While destroying remaining strongholds of terrorists from Islamic State (terrorist organization banned in Russia) in El-Hayal, "a large number of militants were killed and injured, while others fled leaving their weapons behind," the representative said. The mountain rises above the oasis seized last May by IS and allows to open fire at terrorists’ positions on the approaches to Palmyra and inside the city.

Meanwhile Syrian forces delivered strikes at terrorist strongholds in the El-Karyaten oasis on the Damascus-Palmyra highway thus destroying their last base in Mkhin. Militants sustained considerable losses, their military equipment and transport were put out of order.

In Deir ez-Zor at the Euphrates river, Syrian forces repelled attacks of IS gangs that were trying to capture regions controlled by the Syrian army. Terrorists’ attacks were also repelled to the north of Latakia and in Aleppo’s industrial zone.

also this information is being posted at twitter.

‪#‎Belgium‬ withdraws its diplomats from ‪#‎Turkey‬

So if that information is correct ,if the Turkey primitive chief told that ,it will be not good news
for his future. It looks like a threat on Europe ,of terrorism by Erdogan himself. it means there are major tensions in relations between Belgium and Turkey. and that is connected with the recent terrorist attack .
    Correct:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...eat-to-brussels-just-days-before-it-happened/
Turkey’s Erdogan warned of Brussels terror just days before it happened
    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/tu...error.aspx?pageID=238&nID=96620&NewsCatID=338
“There is no reason for the bomb, which exploded in Ankara, not to explode in Brussels, where an opportunity to show off in the heart of the city to supporters of the terror organization is presented, or in any city in Europe. Despite this clear reality, European countries are paying no attention, as if they are dancing in a minefield. You can never know when you are stepping on a mine. But it is clear that this is an inevitable end,” he said, referring to the PKK and the March 13 suicide bomb attack which killed at least 35 people in the heart of Ankara.

"The Saudi-formed High Negotiations Committee (HNC) of the Syrian opposition has reported two militia units from North Korea are fighting for government forces.  "Two North Korean units are there, which are Chalma-1 and Chalma-7," Asaad az-Zoubi, the head of the committee’s delegation to Geneva talks, said on Tuesday. According to az-Zoubi, several Iranian and Afghani nationals are also supporting the governmental troops, saying they are "pilgrims."

Backbone of SAA artillery are D-74/D30/2S1 Gvozdika together with M46, they do not have many 152mm howtizers. And those that they have seem to have seen very little action, probably keeping them aside in case of foreign invasion.

But HNC did not forget ot mention about mercenaries in their ranks from UK,Belgium,France,Germany, Turkey or Asian republics? Or just Koreans are not enough moderate in pest control?

Head of the HNC delegation to the intra-Syrian talks in Geneva Asaad Zoubi said that militias from North Korea are fighting alongside the Syrian army in Syria and those units are "lethally dangerous."

No it is not. It is a M-46 (130mm gun) that is very common in Syrian army.

I was actually fooled by the round crate and thought the muzzle brake was from another gun...the muzzle brake is typical, second wheel less so. Yeah hasty Id from my part. My bad.

If they were SAA in the hands of Daesh, they would either be thrown off buildings or have their heads chopped off. Beating with fists on

Palmyra front is looking good! Looks as if they will try to capture hills around it then encircle, Or something along those lines. All they need to do is get a route to the Palmyra airbase. I'm predicting to see good results by the weekend, Possible capture of more surrounding hills. If I was ISIL, I would withdraw from hills, the surrounding hills and send units to break through to Palmyra airbase.

Regarding the TOW crew, It's sad to see the SAA torturing them like that. They are on their level, Although if they were a well known war criminal group then I would understand. Sure they killed our troops, But war is war.
