Yemen's Hadi Approves UN Peace Agreement Plan

Yemen's President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi has voiced his approval of a peace agreement for the country's warring sides proposed by the United Nations, media reports said Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Saturday, Yemen's Houthi rebels and the General People's Congress (GPC) of ex-President Ali Abdullah Saleh nearly pulled out of UN-backed peace talks with Hadi government representatives before agreeing to extend talks for another week due to what was reportedly a last-ditch effort to pursue peace negotiations by Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the UN special envoy for Yemen.

The agreement proposed by the UN envoy includes clauses on both the Houthis and Saleh forces laying down arms, withdrawing for the Yemeni capital Sana, as well as the cities of Taiz and Hudaydah, and creating a military committee responsible for overseeing the process, the Sky News Arabia channel reported.

The Hadi government delegation has reportedly told Ahmed that its side would sign the document in case the Houthi side does likewise before August 7. However, the Houthis refused approving the proposal and have insisted on forming a national unity government, according to the media outlet.

Since 2014, Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between forces loyal to Hadi and the Houthis, also known as the Ansar Allah movement, which is the country’s main opposition force.

Since March 2015, a Saudi-led coalition of mostly Persian Gulf countries has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthis at Hadi's request despite a ceasefire agreed in April.

UN-brokered talks to end the Yemeni conflict started in Kuwait on April 21. On July 20, the Kuwaiti government gave the warring sides 15 days to settle the crisis before it would stop hosting the talks.

A coalition of Saudi-led Arab forces has bombed a Houthi military camp northeast of Yemen’s capital Sanaa, an Arab television channel reported Tuesday.

DUBAI (Sputnik) — Troops loyal to Yemen’s UN-backed President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi are continuing their offensive against the Houthi-held city, Al Hadath said, adding that they are stationed some 12 miles away from Sanaa.

The coalition has been targeting positions of the opposition Houthi group and military forces backing ex-President Ali Abdullah Saleh. They have recently carried out two dozen airstrikes, the channel estimated.

Yemen’s government delegation reportedly left Kuwait and headed to Riyadh on Monday after two months of UN-facilitated peace talks. Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdel Malek Mekhlafi said authorities were willing to return to the negotiating table before the August 7 deadline.

    Probably similar news, in Almasdar

    https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/video-houthi-forces-ambush-saudi-arabian-army-deep-inside-saudi-border/?utm_medium=ppc&utm_source=push&utm_campaign=push+notifications&utm_content=English

Footage has emerged of Houthi tribesmen firing anti-tank missiles upon Saudi Arabian checkpoints near Najran, a city just ten kilometers from the border with Yemen.

Two Humvees and a tank are hit and presumably destroyed.

    Land of the Flip-flops

Longish video showing they are now at the entrance of the city of Najran in Saudi Arabia.
On the way, they destroy a number of armor and other vehicles, capture positions and show booty and dead Saudis.

Since the UAE military has pulled out, the quality of the Saudi deadbeats has dropped significantly.

This is quite interesting, considering that UAE was mostly armed with French Leclerc tanks and Russian BMP-3 IFVs, Kornet ATGMs and Pantsir-S1 SAMs. On the other hand Saudis are mostly armed with US M1A2 Abrams and M-60 tanks, M2 Bradley and LAV IFVs, M-113 APCs, Patriot SAMs, TOW and Javelin ATGMs, etc.

Maybe UAE army is much more competent or US armament is not that much better than Russian or French.

There's truth in both. UAE smaller force, better trained by the French for "budget" wars. Less reliance on local manpower for security details also helps not getting KitKhatted.

Looks like some of the vehicles were cut down when trying to help the first wave.

If they make it to Eastern Saudi Arabia, the Neo-Cons will then demand to save Saudi's from destruction.

Yeah, I have no doubt the West will save the House of Saud if they are in serious trouble.

    But one can always dream.
