An ideal successor of Putin would be someone like him but more market (reform) oriented, maybe with a dose of protectionism.

BTW - Sevastopol hit a record - 123% of those eligible voted.

    You kidding me?

I'd rather take the Botox Queen over the Communists.
Btw most of their "gains" in recent years were from protest votes, not people actually wanting communism back.
Also as always from old people who don't want to install gas meters in their formerly state-paid apartments.

What happened when russia had communists? Why millions of people were uplifted from capitalist exploitation and saw a birth of a superpower even without having overseas colonies from which to exploit millions of natives for cheap labor. A successor to putin would be someone who cares more about nbenifiting the (richer but still heavily impoverished) working class, while nationalising all the strategic resources currently controlled by the oligarchs. I dont want a russia where there's privatised public services which only the upper middle and ruling classes can reliably afford while all corporations abuse workers due to no regulations, eg Gilded Age style. Bulgaria is an example of what happened when libertarians took power:namely just shit.

And millions of people were uplifted from their lives.

Remember what happened to that superpower? Hint, it crapped out.

I like Rogozin, he's a guy with a great sense of humor but one draw back is that he's abrasive, but the best candidate for the next Russian president should be Sergey Lavrov. How Sergey handled the Iran and Syrian situations is worthy of presidential material, he's the text book definition of a velvet glove.

Due to the western backed Yeltsin coup and (80% of the cause)overemphasis on the MIC, basically the same problem the US has, as well astoo much corruption from a the party nomenclature that devolved (regrettably but not mandatory for a future socialist republic) into a priviledged ruling class more interested in intrigues than saving a country, not because muh capituhlism and small gubmint is da best.

To me, it doesn't matter who is at the top per se. Lavrov though would be my choice (if I had one that is).

It is the one who will be head of the Central bank and the Economics of the country. This individual would be the one who would make some of the biggest changes. As to how to improve domestic consumption, what industries to concentrate on and which ones to allow free for all development in, and whom to actually trade with and whom not to.

It is Russia's economic policies holding it back. As the good concept of growing middle class is nice, they need to grow domestic demand for their products, and artificially inflate it, much like UK does, in order to stay economically strong without the need of others investments. It was the WTO that is hurting Russia. It is their economic policies relying of foreign trade that is hurting their foreign policies, etc. So that person, whomever he is, needs to be real good at his job. And not some Kurdin guy, who would bend over back for west just to get some money, and not some oligarch that will be needing to fill his pocket even more.

That portal quotes the Ukrainian Pravda for that story.
The Pravda.com.ua then takes you to a blogger who makes the claim with a link that takes you to Gazeta.ru where I can't seem to find that info...
So, I'll take that claim with a healthy dose of skepticism, if you don't mind.
