Corruption in Russia is pretty much non-existent nowadays in my experience. Never had to pay a dime anywhere "off the books". In Ukraine it was and still is rampant and if anything it's actually even gotten worse since 2014 and their glorious revolution.
It is freaking mindblowing what a 180 view of things that propaganda has instilled in people. Ask any random person in Europe and they'll tell you with absolute certainty that this conflict is about uncorrupt and democratic Ukraine trying to part ways with corrupt and undemocratic Russia, and the latter resorting to force to prevent Ukraine from achieving this.
