Perhaps they wouldn’t be in this mess if they had been willing to spend 10s of billions on US military equipment....oh wait

    Major victory for the Houthis:
-The whole eastern front of the capital Sanaa has been retaken (2500 square kilometers of territory)
-Huge losses in men and equipment for the Saudi led coalition

So what has changed... for a while it looked like the Houthies were on their last legs and had been cornered... able to score local kills and successes but lacking the depth and coordination to stop the numerically and technologically superior Saudi led forces... now all of a sudden the tide has turned and accelerated in their favour.

Has Iran increased support... has Saudi Arabia lost interest... is Saudi Money drying up so the mercs are no longer interested in holding their positions and fighting?

the conflict as u said looked for a while pretty stagnant, and at one point houthis in trouble, but with some successes looking not bad for them now, but still major challenges. Large vast parts of the country still need taking, and Aden (which wont be a walk in the park) and not just coalition but also terror groups who will may get secret funding from the coalition once coalition start to lose more ground. I think once Marib is captured, and strong push towards south west coast and Aden. Once thats fully done (not easy) the the eastern parts of the country which is mostly vast areas with sporadic towns and few cities will most likely collapse.

I personally think the coalition is starting to feel the effects of long drawn conflict, not just loses in men, but also equipment, with some countries now asking themselves is it really all worth it. I think they thought high tech equipment would be the magic wand in the war and it hasn't been a vastly low tech houthi army has proven to be a tougher nut to crack than expected. we may find that this is the start of a slow down in coalition activity and withdrawal but done in a way to save face. Also in the last year (mostly last 6 months) major things have happened with the coalition. UAE having disagreements with Hadi government which has led to limited involvement by UAE. end of last year Sudan reduced its troops from 15,000 to 5,000 believing that military solution was not the answer, but you will probably find to many bodies getting sent home and pressure from Sudanese parliament+ families + poll ratings adding pressure to government as to why sudanese men are coming back in body bags for the sake of the government getting backhanders from saudi. And then there was the withdrawal from Morocco in 2019 (6 planes + 1.5K troops) and also Qatar back in 2017 which may have strained things (10 planes + 1k troops) and i wouldnt be surprised if mercs (1k) no longer want to fight there due to body bags piling up. so in the last couple years (mostly last 6 months) your looking at 25-31 planes (inc UAE) no longer in action and around 13.5k troops less, along with troops already killed in action and i cant imagine many saudi's or other coalition countries men looking to sign up for war you may find manpower is alsop now an issue along with the cost of maintaining the war as well as loses.

i would say RBS-70 iran does have some and most likely reversed engineered some, it also looks a little bit like a rapier missile, or a crotale system both system iran has or made copies of by my best guess is RBS-70 copy

    Awesome news.

"Yemeni air defenses shot down a Tornado in the sky of Al-Jawf while carrying out hostile missions.
It was shot down by a sophisticated air-to-ground missile & possesses modern technology.
The sky of Yemen is not for a walk."

It's a new iranian design. They are bigger than usual MANPADs and missiles are seperated in two parts when transporting and put together before launch. RBS-70 is smaller, in one part and packed in container tube, from which it is launched. Laser guidance could be taken either form RBS-70 either from Kornet. For now we see only a missile, but still not yet a launcher.

A demo that a Tornado (looks like afterburner is in use) can't outrun a SAM. From the IR tracking video in Medo's post it is possible the crew ejected. It looks like the incident was at night. There is a second (phone?) video at the link below.

I guess it must be a r-73 or r-27 (they have the same seaker) launched from ground.

Wouldn't be the first time and proves russian missiles are deadly contrary to what western propaganda teached its pilots.

Just in case there was any doubt

The Saudi News Agency quoted the Arab Coalition spokesperson Turki Al-Malki as saying on Saturday that one of their Tornado fighter jets was shot down over northern Yemen on Friday night.

“At 23:45 P.M. on Friday, February 14, 2020, a Tornado fighter plane of the Royal Saudi Air Force crashed while on a mission of close air support to units of the National Army,” Malki said.

Of course they can. Iran transport missiles in separated parts. Houtis put those parts together, so they are domestic made. In the same way western industry made products from chinese parts. Simply put them together.

This missile is actually quite big. Parts of the missiles are layed beside Kornet missiles, which are 1,2 m long. When put together those missiles are around 3 m long and diameter of body is similar to Kornet, which have diameter of 152 mm. By the size and most probably by the mass as well, they are similar to R-73. It should have 10+ km range. Although missile is separated in parts for transportation, it must be quite heavy to carry it around. Most probably they drive them in Toyotas.

One of the SaudiAF aircrew survived and is now a captive. I won't show the pictures as he lost blood though his mouth and his beard looks a mess. Could have been caused by the impacts of ejection and landing.

No good reason to hurt him, he is very valuable as a hostage, in traditional Arab (and others) negotiations.

Houtis are not barbaric and they never killed a defenceless man, I never heard of any.

Contrary to saudi... they bombed and killed around 30-40 civilians as a revenge for the destruction of the Tornado.
