Considering the experience of the author and the assistance that others were giving him, very disappointed with the inaccuracies. If this is the work supposedly of one of the West's best, no wonder they don't understand Russia. He will soon have the Southern Military District coming out according to his twitter account.

He also said that the armed forces are continuing to prepare for the heating season. "As of today, more than 80,000 military camp facilities are ready for operation in winter conditions. In comparison with last year, three times more buildings and structures of the barracks and housing stock have been repaired," the minister said.

According to him, since the beginning of the year, more than 780 thousand tons of fuel have been delivered to the boiler rooms, which made it possible to create reserves in excess of the approved standards. "The supply of heat in the regions is carried out in accordance with the schedule. 350 repair teams have been created to promptly respond to emergencies. 100% of military camps have received passports for winter readiness - 6,240," the minister said.

    Full article: https://tass-ru.translate.goog/armiya-i-opk/12579721?_x_tr_sl=ru&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=nui

NOTE: It is my understanding that the term "military camps" refer to any Ministry of Defense owned properties and sometimes appears as "military town". This year 6,240 are reported, down 28 from last year and 217 from 2018. Assume that non used military properties continue to be turned over to civilian authorities for sale or other development. Another Russian military term is the "Territorial Garrison" which refers to all the military bases, camps and personnel within a geographical region and not limited to administrative regions ie: a facility in one region/republic/kray may belong to a unit from a neighboring region and be included in that territorial garrison. Apparently there are 65-70 of these territorial garrisons overall spread over the country. Interesting item is that the Ministry of Defense apparently has no facilities in 2 of the 85 federal regions.

Shoigu: in the RF Ground Forces, one division and four brigades have been formed since 2019

MOSCOW, October 7. / TASS /. A new motorized rifle division and four brigades have appeared in the Russian Ground Forces since 2019, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Thursday.

"Since 2019, in accordance with the plan of activities of the Ground Forces, more than 350 events have been carried out. That is, it turns out, one event every three days. One motorized rifle division, four brigades, as well as 27 military units of the army and divisional kits of troops have been formed," he said he is at a meeting of the board of the military department.

Since that time, the Ground Forces have received more than 4.5 thousand units of new and modernized weapons and military equipment. "This made it possible to bring the level of modernity at the beginning of this year to 55.5%. By the end of the year this figure should exceed 58%," the minister said.

According to him, in the interests of the military, equipment samples have been created that surpass the best foreign analogues. “These are modernized T-80BVM and T-90M Proryv-3 tanks, a modernized BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle with a Berezhok fighting compartment, and a Typhoon-K protected vehicle,” Shoigu said.

In addition, the minister said, the number of contract servicemen in the Ground Forces increased from 144 thousand to 147.5 thousand, which makes it possible to staff all positions of junior commanders and specialists with professional personnel.

The formation of a new motorized rifle and anti-aircraft missile regiment of a mobile reserve in the Eastern Military District (VVO) is a reaction to threats to Russia's security, Shoigu said.

"In order to adequately respond to existing and potential challenges, 35 organizational measures are envisaged this year. The main ones are the formation of a motorized rifle regiment of the 127th division and an anti-aircraft missile regiment of a mobile reserve," he said.

According to him, by the end of the year, the district will receive 1,606 units of weapons and military equipment. "Thus, the share of modern designs will increase to 56%," the minister said.

Shoigu also noted that the effectiveness of operational and combat training activities was increased by 9% compared to last year.

"For the first time in the modern history of the Russian Armed Forces, an operational exercise was conducted with a grouping of forces of the Pacific Fleet in the far sea zone," he added.

In the aviation formations and military units of the district, Shoigu said, the main efforts are focused on the development of modern multifunctional aviation complexes. "The average flight time of young pilots of operational-tactical aviation has doubled, and that of transport and army aviation - more than 1.5 times," the Minister of Defense said.

Shoigu said that the plans for the military training of the armed forces for 2021 have been fully implemented. "The plans for combat training have been completed. Since December last year, more than 4.5 thousand tactical exercises have been conducted, including interspecific and bilateral," Shoigu said, analyzing the implementation of the plan for training the armed forces in 2021 in terms of combat training.

Speaking about the results of the Russian-Belarusian strategic exercises Zapad-2021, held in September, the minister noted that "in accordance with the instructions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the accumulated experience and new, more effective methods of using troops are being successfully used in combat training."

Shoigu also said that in April, as part of a control check at 101 training grounds and 520 facilities of the training and material base, more than 5,000 basic training activities were carried out, including more than 800 bilateral exercises. He noted that the Russian team "deservedly took first place" at the International Army Games.

The improvement of the educational and material base continues. "The equipping of 89 educational facilities at 56 training grounds is nearing completion, over 1.2 thousand units of training ground equipment have been delivered to the troops," Shoigu said.

According to him, from October 1, final and control checks have begun in the formations, formations and military units.

In the formations and military units of the Southern Military District (SE), the commanders of the units involved in tactical exercises organized the management of subordinate units using the Unified Tactical Link Management System (ESUTZ).

The latest ESUTZ management system, delivered to the troops of the Southern Military District this year, allows you to bring instructions to each unit commander, as well as receive feedback on the implementation of the order and the decisions taken.

In the South of Russia and in the locations of Russian military bases in Transcaucasia, a bilateral command and staff exercise is being conducted to control troops in the Southwestern strategic direction.

Under the leadership of the commander of the Southern Military District, Army General Alexander Dvornikov, battalion tactical groups of formations and military units of the district, in a single tactical plan, conduct bilateral tactical exercises at 25 combined-arms ranges located in the Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions, in the Kuban and Stavropol Regions, in the republics of the North Caucasus, in the Crimea, as well as at Russian military bases in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.

More than 8 thousand servicemen from the three combined arms armies, the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla, the Air Force and air defense associations, formations and units of the armed forces and special forces of the district subordination were involved in practical actions in the field.

Increased combat capability and advanced weapons: what has changed in the Russian army during the work of Sergei Shoigu as Minister of Defense

Sergei Shoigu became the head of the Russian defense department nine years ago, and during this time, serious changes have taken place in the Russian Armed Forces.

In the fall of 2021, the joint strategic exercises "West" took place. They were attended by about 200 thousand soldiers, 760 pieces of equipment and 15 warships. Almost one and a half dozen polygons were involved, both in Russia and abroad. Together with the units of Belarus, the Russian military worked out the protection of their borders from the western direction.

At the military training ground in Mulino, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu watched everything that happened.

When Sergei Shoigu was appointed to the post of defense minister nine years ago, no one could have imagined that drone robots would become a reality in the Russian army. For example, the Uran-9 complexes are capable of destroying enemy armored vehicles and manpower. At the same time, the operator controlling them is located several kilometers from the battlefield. A small, versatile robot "Platform-M" and an all-round combat unmanned reconnaissance aircraft "Nerekhta" were also tested and adopted.

“Platform M robotic systems were used for the first time at test sites near Kaliningrad. Remotely controlled robots on a tracked chassis have shown good results ... In addition, at the Mulino training ground, combat robots Uran-9 and Nerekhta were used for the first time in the combat formations of combined arms units, "Sergei Shoigu said about the West maneuvers.

Rearmament is underway in all branches and branches of the armed forces. Special attention is paid to missile systems of all classes. State tests of the S-500 Prometey system have already been completed. Serial production has been established and supplies to anti-aircraft missile units are currently beginning.

The department, headed by Sergei Shoigu, is faced with the task in the coming years to bring the level of equipping troops with the latest air and missile defense systems to 80%.

The development of Russian hypersonic systems is proceeding at such a pace that, according to many experts, the US and NATO strike aircraft carrier groups are losing their relevance.

As part of the exercise, the Severodvinsk boats were first launched from the surface position, then, a few hours later, from a depth of 40 meters. Developing speeds in excess of Mach eight, or eight speeds of sound, the Zircons hit targets in the Barents Sea.

“I congratulate everyone who was involved in these tests and I hope that we will soon complete all this work and put the rocket into service,” Shoigu said.

By the end of this year, the fleet will receive more than 40 surface ships, submarines, support vessels and multifunctional boats of various types. And deliveries are ahead of schedule. Over the nine years of Sergei Shoigu's work as Minister of Defense, the Russian Navy has changed not only qualitatively. The zone of operations of warships has fundamentally changed. Now, the Russian fleet is present where the country has state interests.

“I will add that the ships and vessels of the Navy constantly participate in long-distance sea voyages, solve combat training tasks and ensure the demonstration of the flag in ocean and sea zones that are significant for Russia, whereas, I recall, in the 2000s, at the beginning of 2000 -x, such campaigns were episodic, if not isolated, ”Vladimir Putin expressed his position.

For the first time, the actions of warships over the water area of the sea were supported by heavy bomber aircraft.

A new runway was built at the Khmeimim airbase this year. Its length allows it to take absolutely all types of aircraft. And now heavy long-range bombers Tu-22M3M, for example, can operate in the operational zone of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, without long flights from Russian airfields.

In March of this year, sailors conducted an unprecedented operation near the Franz Josef Land archipelago. The culmination of the Umka-2021 expedition of the Russian Northern Fleet was the simultaneous ascent of three nuclear submarines at once. At exactly the appointed time, three submarines broke through the Arctic ice one and a half meters thick within a radius of 300 meters, after which their commanders reported their readiness to fire.

What the Russian army will be in the near future, guests from 97 countries of the world could see at the International military-technical forum "Army-2021" . More than 20 thousand samples of weapons and equipment, both military and dual-use, almost one and a half thousand defense industry enterprises presented their developments in the Patriot park. The latest unmanned aerial vehicles, strike and reconnaissance systems, laser suppression systems and the most modern examples of military equipment were shown in action. As a result, despite difficult pandemic times, the amount of contracts signed within the framework of the forum reached 500 billion rubles.

At the forum, Sergei Shoigu carefully examined the developments that may very soon go into production. For example, the latest mobile medical complexes.

A new, even more aggressive wave of the pandemic this year has become a real test of the ability of the Russian defense department to take a hit from an invisible enemy. Indeed, the state of the Armed Forces personnel, their combat readiness, directly depends on the country's defense capability. The army not only withstood the onslaught of the pandemic at the most difficult time, but also directed its resources to help the civilian population.

“The incidence of sickness among the personnel of the Armed Forces is two times lower than the average for Russia. Compared to 2020, the incidence has decreased by 44%. The need for bed capacity has decreased three times. We offer all this to the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. We provide assistance in our 136 hospitals, in 27 regions, ”the Minister of Defense commented.

Vladimir Putin ordered to provide civil hospitals with oxygen. Sergei Shoigu immediately set a task for the commanders of the military districts. Only the aviation units of the Central Military District, the Chelyabinsk Region, the Perm and Krasnoyarsk Territories, Orenburg and Ulyanovsk have transferred about 26 tons of oxygen to civilian hospitals. For this, automobile oxygen-producing stations were involved. These installations receive liquid and gaseous medical oxygen from atmospheric air in the field.

In total, this year, the Ministry of Defense supplied more than 500 tons of medical oxygen to the country's hospitals. If the need arises, says Sergei Shoigu, the military department will continue to build new multifunctional medical centers in 2021.

Military builders take part in the most ambitious government projects. In the spring of this year, ten brigades of the Russian railway troops began construction of the second branch of the Baikal-Amur Mainline . It should increase the capacity of BAM and Transsib by 60 million tons of cargo per year. The transportation time for containers from Vladivostok to the western borders will be reduced to seven days, and the country's budget will be replenished by transit along a new route.

“The significance of this section of the BAM for the country's economy is enormous. At the moment, the potential of the railway track has been exhausted due to its high workload. By the end of 2024, after the road is put into operation, the transport capabilities of Eastern Siberia will be increased. The capacity of the highway and the volume of traffic will increase, ”Shoigu said.

Looking at the news feeds, it seems that Sergei Shoigu is always on the road. And each time, these are new routes. The minister, being in parallel the president of the Russian Geographical Society, traveled the country from Kamchatka to Kaliningrad. And, of course, when there are rare days of rest, he returns to his native Siberia. To sit with a canvas in front of a picturesque mountain landscape.

However, Sergei Shoigu has accumulated so much artwork that it was enough for an entire exhibition in the Kazan Kremlin . Here you can find oil, watercolor, and pencil. One thing in common: all the works depict the beauty and diversity of Siberian nature. Part of the exposition is occupied by woodwork, boxes, figurines and vases. The minister's works will soon be auctioned off, and the money will be used to treat seriously ill children. In mid-May, Sergei Shoigu already gave several of his works for auction. Then, the proceeds were transferred to the rehabilitation of children with cancer.

“It is a great honor for me that all this is presented here. I never thought what would ever happen, and never dreamed about it. I did it exclusively for myself. For friends. Because a lot is taken from friends. Because I gave for the most part, ”the head of the RF Ministry of Defense shared his emotions.

The country's Armed Forces have never experienced such drastic changes. Over the nine years that the department has been headed by Sergei Shoigu, the prestige of military service has grown significantly. Servicemen and their families are provided with housing and decent wages. Many military men, having tried life in civilian life, return to contract service.

The prestige of the army is the prestige of the state. And the latest strategic exercises Zapad-2021 is proof of this. ■

NOTE: today is Shoigu's 9th anniversary as Minister of Defense. Apparently one of less then half a dozen to have reached this milestone in Russian and SU history. None have reached their 10th yet. IMO he has done one hell of a job too! cheers thumbsup russia

It isn't just Shoigu though. He is one man of a whole team. Just the speaker of them all. I would say Gerasimov would also be a character of sorts who did a lot of work in guaranteeing Russia gets the needed assets. There would be others too. Shoigu is only human and he can only make so many decisions at one time.

Post  franco Sun Nov 07, 2021 11:20 pm

Sappers of the Swift Assault. The troops of the Southern Military District are actively developing new ways of using engineering units in various types of combat.

Engineering formations, military units and subdivisions of the Southern Military District in the new format of the final check of troops in the form of bilateral regimental and battalion tactical exercises are practicing the use of newly created engineering assault companies. According to the commanders, their use has noticeably affected the expansion of the combat capabilities of tactical groups in various types of combat.

    Against a complex tactical background

The final tactical-special exercise of the engineering regiment of the Southern Military District under the command of Colonel Yevgeny Mastunenko took place against a complex tactical background. The conditional adversary in this particular case was an illegal armed formation in its previously and thoroughly equipped base. He carefully prepared for a long siege and turned the settlement into a real defense area. Having carefully mined the driveways and approaches to buildings, the "enemy" added non-explosive barriers and reinforced engineering equipment to firing points in windows, doors and on the roofs of houses.
The special forces unit, tasked with driving the "terrorists" out of the fortified area, clearly needed the help of sappers. Specialists of the engineer battalion have already helped to eliminate the mine hazard on the route of advancing to the assault object, made passes through the obstacles on the direct approaches to the settlement. And now they had to ensure the advancement of the assault units to the citadel houses and the entrance to them.

    Assault in spetsnaz style.

The engineer-assault company of senior lieutenant Dmitry Dashkevich was supposed to ensure the breakthrough of the spetsnaz groups. It should be noted that even in the conditions of a rapidly changing situation, the actions of the engineering special forces, as this unit began to be called in the regiment from the moment of its formation, were multifacetedly thought out and prepared.

The commander of the engineering reconnaissance platoon, Senior Lieutenant Roman Zlishchev, using a compact UAV, collected data on all the targets of the assault, identifying their most vulnerable spots. Based on this information, Senior Lieutenant Dashkevich distributed the assault groups for each object, establishing their clear interaction with the special forces soldiers. The operator of the Uran-6 robotic complex, Sergeant Alexander Dezhurov, masterfully drove his obedient car along mine-hazardous routes, clearing mines for the assault teams to pass the facilities.

In the conditions of a rapidly changing situation, the actions of the engineering special forces were multifacetedly thought out and prepared

Almost simultaneously, explosions thundered through the walls, and assault groups fell on the stunned "enemy" from the most unexpected directions. At the same time, blasting kits for frozen ground showed particular efficiency - they coped equally well with concrete and brick walls. After that, the cleansing of the buildings of the special forces proceeded rapidly. And the sappers working side by side with them applied the knowledge and skills gained during the training exercise "Smart House". During this training, you learn to recognize the cunning of the enemy when setting explosive traps: anything from a doorknob to a table lamp or a child's toy can become deadly. Lieutenant Konstantin Shkola and his subordinates distinguished themselves with a sapper instinct.

As the head of the exercise, Colonel Alexander Lepyoshkin, figuratively noted, if in the given dynamics of the battle the special forces acted as a scalpel, and the sappers - in the role of a punching sledgehammer, then the training battle showed that this "sledgehammer" was in no way inferior to the "scalpel" in terms of shock sharpening and acted with him in unison. Such interspecies coordination becomes especially valuable in the conditions of urban combat.

    In demand by modern combat

    - For effective actions, the engineering assault units have everything they need: ammunition, means for making passages in non-explosive and explosive obstacles, military and special equipment, - Colonel Roman Bessmertny, head of the engineering troops of the combined-arms army of the Southern Military District, commented on the results of the exercise. The effectiveness of the exercises was also affected by the fact that the experience of military operations in Syria is widely used in the process of combat training in the engineering regiment. The specialists of the engineering assault company have clearly shown that they have mastered the newest robotic complex Uran-6, the UR-77 demining installation and its mobile analogue, the portable ZRP-2 Tropa, quite well. The regiment personnel showed stable skills in the use of the IMR-2 engineering clearing machine, the UR-83P remote mine clearance installation, engineering complexes for demining MICR and other special equipment.

In the format of the final exercise, the sappers demonstrated their skills in using the OVR-3Sh combined-arms demining kit, which includes equipment of the maximum degree of protection, an assault knife, a sapper's multifunctional knife, an armored shield and a set of means for providing emergency access to the building. Special purpose sappers have once again proved that they can use all eight suits of the Raid-L-Shturmova's combat protective equipment. Skillfully they coped with other crediting tasks: work with improvised explosive devices, methods of undermining structural elements made of wood, steel, brick, stone, concrete and reinforced concrete.
Commenting on the actions of the engineering assault company during the final exercise, the unit commander, Colonel Yevgeny Mastunenko, noted that the demand for this unit in the outgoing academic year was the highest. The regiment's sapper special forces took an active part in almost all bilateral exercises of tactical groups of the combined arms army. In many respects, therefore, the combat team is considered by the command as a candidate for the assignment of the honorary name of the strike team.

With the beginning of the school year, the 415th training Center will begin its activities in the interests of the Southern Military District (SE).

As part of the formation of a military educational institution at the Molkino combined arms training ground in the Krasnodar Territory, the equipment of the tank airfield, tank director, director of infantry fighting vehicles (BMP) and the autodrome has been completed. A training building with technical and fire training classes has also been prepared.

On the basis of the center, it is planned to train about 1.2 thousand junior specialists, including mechanics-drivers of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, as well as about 100 drivers of category "C", "D" and "E".

At the Military Council of the Southern Military District, it was noted that at the end of the year, the district 244th combined arms range Prudboy in the Volgograd region and the combined arms range Guardsman in the Chechen Republic were recognized as the best in the Armed Forces, and the aviation range of the association of the Air Force and air Defense of the Southern Kopanskaya in the Krasnodar Territory entered the top three winners of the competition.

Components and capabilities of the Unified tactical echelon control system

General principles of ESU TK work. Graphics B

To date, the industry has developed and brought to serial production the Unified Tactical Control System (ESU TZ). Now it is being deployed in units and subdivisions of the ground forces, as a result of which they increase their performance and receive fundamentally new capabilities. All these advantages are provided by a number of new radio-electronic devices and samples of equipment for various purposes.

    At the stage of development

For various reasons, the development of a new control system turned out to be a difficult and time-consuming process. So, the concept of such a network-centric type system was proposed in the early eighties, but for two decades it did not receive proper development. Only in 2000-2001 a full-fledged project of this kind was launched, which received the code "Constellation-M".

The head developer of ESU TZ is the Sozvezdie concern, which is part of the Ruselectronics holding from the Rostec state corporation. The concern carries out general coordination of work, as well as designs and manufactures some components of the system. Also, some other enterprises of the radio-electronic and defense industries are engaged in the development and production of equipment.

Components and capabilities of the Unified tactical echelon control system

In the second half of the 2000s, the first version of the future ESU TK was tested, according to the results of which it was sent for revision. The next full-scale inspections took place in the mid-tenths. So, the first major event using ESU TK was the Caucasus-2016 exercise. According to their results, the system was again improved, and then recommended for adoption.

At the end of 2018, the Ministry of Defense placed the first order for the serial production of ESU TZ components. Then it was reported that over the next few years, dozens of brigade sets of equipment and equipment would be delivered to the ground forces.

To date, these plans have been fulfilled, at least in part. The Ministry of Defense and the media reported on the complete re-equipment of four divisions. At the same time, the supply of new products does not stop and are carried out in the interests of other connections. According to known data, serial samples of ESU TK have already been tested during exercises of various scales.

In parallel with the production of a modern ESU TK, a promising system for the same purpose, referred to under the code "Constellation-2015", is being developed. Technical details have not yet been mentioned, but it is reported that such a system will not be inferior to the best world analogues, and in some parameters will even surpass them. Also, an export version of the ESU TZ is being introduced to the market under the name "Automated command and control system of tactical echelons".

"More than 1.5 thousand newest designs": Dvornikov spoke about equipping the Southern Military District in 2021

Over the past year, more than 10 thousand servicemen of the Southern Military District were awarded the insignia of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and 1,049 servicemen were awarded state awards for courage and professionalism displayed in the performance of military duty at the risk of their lives. General of the Army Alexander Dvornikov, Commander of the Southern Military District, spoke about this.

He noted that the troops of the Southern Military District are always supported in combat and mobilization readiness, since it is in their area of responsibility that the clashes in Syria, the military activity of NATO and the possible escalation of the conflict in Ukraine are located. In this regard, the number of military units and formations in the troops of the district is growing.

So, recently, as part of the 58th combined-arms army, the 19th motorized rifle division was recreated. In addition, the 20th Guards Motorized Rifle Division was re-formed. Also, the 49th combined-arms army was joined by electronic warfare and RChBZ units, and the 8th combined-arms army was reinforced by the missile and artillery brigades.

In addition, according to Dvornikov, equipping and rearmament of troops is being actively carried out in the Southern Military District. At the moment, the share of the latest and modernized weapons and military equipment is no less than 71%. In the past academic year alone, the military units and formations of the Southern Military District received more than 1.5 thousand units of the latest models of weapons and military equipment, including helicopters, airplanes, ships, armored vehicles, communications, electronic warfare and other types of weapons.

“Within the framework of the State Defense Order in 2021, Ka-52 helicopters and Su-25SM3 aircraft equipped with the latest sighting systems came to the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Southern Military District. A part of the anti-aircraft missile forces is supplied with the ultra-modern anti-aircraft missile system S-350 "Vityaz". Simultaneously with this, the process of rearmament with the modernized anti-aircraft missile system S-300PM2 is taking place, ”the General of the Army noted.

By the end of the academic year, over 160 battalions, companies and crews of ships confirmed the honorary name "Shock". Of all the servicemen of the Southern Military District, 288 people were selected to participate in the Army in 2021, which is 58% more than in the previous year.

“In 14 competitions of the International Army Games - 2021, representatives of the Southern Military District took 10 first and 4 second places, and the flight crews of the 4th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense in the Aviadarts competition set a general competition record, having improved the result by 12 points compared to 2020. For the fourth year in a row, the district's crews as part of the Russian national team take first places in the Tank Biathlon competition, "the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper quotes the commander of the Southern Military District.

In the 2021 academic year, the troops focused on improving the methods of fire destruction in combination with the development of reconnaissance, fire and strike systems. The development and training of the exercises was carried out within the framework of 2,500 combat training events.

In addition, in the Southern Military District, a fight against coronavirus infection has been ongoing for a long time, for the implementation of which military doctors managed to develop a set of effective measures. Thanks to this, more than 98% of the military personnel were vaccinated in the troops.

“We were one of the first in the Armed Forces to receive more than 315 thousand doses of vaccine against NKVI. Military personnel and civilian personnel of the district were vaccinated as a priority, but we also tried to cover family members of military personnel and military pensioners ... Since July of the outgoing year, we have been conducting a revaccination campaign to maintain immunity ... in comparison with last year, after the vaccination it has decreased by more than 85 percent, ”Dvornikov said.

The priority social task in the Southern Military District, as explained by the commander of the troops, is to provide servicemen with housing. So, during the year, 23 thousand soldiers received the right to provide housing, of which four thousand moved into service apartments, and the rest chose monetary compensation. Also, over 600 families of military personnel received housing subsidies in 2021.

An important point in the activity of the Southern Military District was the assignment of the status of the main military temple of the Southern Military District to the Church of St. George the Victorious in Rostov-on-Don and the work on the improvement of its territory. Also, a stele dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the formation of the Southern Military District was solemnly opened in the courtyard of the temple.

The General of the Army noted that in the coming year, the servicemen of the Southern Military District will have to work hard and hard.

“In this regard, we pin great hopes on the 415th training center, which is located at the Molkino combined-arms training ground in the Krasnodar Territory. He began his activity on December 1 - with the beginning of the winter period of study. On the basis of the center, more than a thousand junior specialists will be trained annually, including mechanics-drivers of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, as well as drivers of categories "C", "D" and "E", "added the commander of the Southern Military District.

Dvornikov said that in the 2022 academic year, more than three thousand combat training events are planned to be held in the troops of the Southern Military District. The most important of these will be bilateral command and staff exercises with groupings of troops (forces) in the Southwest Strategic Direction.

Shoigu had announced that a new Tank division would be formed this year. Rumours are that the unit will be based on the 6th Tank Brigade stationed in Mulino and will be the old 47th Guards Tank Division reactivated. This would make an excellent vehicle to bring the new T-14 and T-15's online.

Franco, what of the 1st Guards tank brigade/ formerly 10th Guards Uralsko Lvovskaya Tank division?

I find it in the order of battle for 20th CAA but no further information except that it was reduced in status to a base for storage of weapons and equipment and could be quickly mobilized as a tank brigade during hostilities.

In any case was this unit ever reorganized into full fledged brigade in the 20th CAA?

Lenta Ru reported that the 262nd base for storage and repair of equipment remains in boguchar and was organized into brigade , and might become division in the future.

Interfax also reported it , but both reports are from 2015. Any other info?

No, it doesn't exist. It was talked about converting the 9th Motor Rifle brigade (transferred from Mulino to Boguchar) into the 10th Guards Tank division but they decided instead to form the 3rd Motor Rifle division. A lot of armchair ORBAT people still try to claim it exists. The Russian army has 13 of these reserve brigades in storage however there are no personnel so the "quickly mobilized"... not so much. It is only in the last year that an active reserve has been formed and trained in Russia known as the Combat Reserve. It was talked about having a strength of 100,000 at one point... actual totals are "state secrets" and not for the likes of us dunno No

    Responsible for weapons and ammunition

The Organizational and Planning Directorate of the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is 80 years old.

Over the years of its existence, the department, whatever its name, has consistently carried out responsible and complex tasks. This is the provision of weapons to the personnel of our army during the Great Patriotic War, the war in Afghanistan, counter-terrorist operations in the Chechen Republic, as well as the fight against international terrorism in the Syrian Arab Republic. At present, the directorate manages the planning of missile-technical and artillery-technical support measures.

Currently, in the course of improving the apparatus of the GRAU of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the department organizes operational (combat) and mobilization training of the personnel of the GRAU of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and in subordinate military units (organizations). In addition, he carries out general management of the planning of RTO and ArtTO events, the preparation of proposals for the state defense order and the State Armaments Program, military-technical cooperation and military-technical policy, to improve the system of RTO and ArtTO and participate in the prescribed manner in the training and distribution of military personnel in assigned military specialties.

    - Today, when the time has come for high-precision weapons, selective means of destruction, the so-called smart weapons, the administration, together with scientific institutions and industrial enterprises, is doing everything possible to ensure that these weapons enter the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation as quickly as possible. In 2021 alone, to build up combat capabilities, more than a thousand units of the main types of RAV were delivered to the troops (forces), which made it possible to re-equip 23 military formations and increase the share of modernity in such groups as missile systems, mortars and combined guns, anti-tank systems and air defense systems to over 70 percent .
In addition, more than 16,000 tons of missiles and artillery ammunition were delivered, which ensured the fulfillment of such priority tasks as conducting operational (combat) training events, special tasks, the International Army Games and a dynamic demonstration at the Army-2021 International Military-Technical Forum.

Bering defense: a new division is being created to protect the northeast of the Russian Federation
The connection will ensure the security of the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic regions

The Bering Strait and the coast of Chukotka will be covered by a new coastal defense division - its formation in the region has already begun, sources in the military department told Izvestia. The connection will take control of the territory from the western borders of Chukotka to Kamchatka, and, if necessary, to Sakhalin. It will include several regiments, including the previously created 50th Coastal Defense Regiment. The formation of the division should be completed in 2022. Experts note that the significance of the Northern Sea Route is gradually growing and several countries have already disputed the right to use it from Russia. Therefore, experts believe that the emergence of a new connection will help Russia consolidate its influence in the region.

    From regiment to division

As sources in the Ministry of Defense told Izvestia, the zone of responsibility of the new unit will extend along the Northern Sea Route from the western borders of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug to Sakhalin, including Kamchatka. She will patrol the coast and will have at her disposal all the necessary weapons systems. The formation of a new division should be completed this year, the interlocutors of the editors specified.

The topic of creating a new division was raised at the final board of the Ministry of Defense in December 2021. According to Izvestia sources, the division will have to include the 50th Coastal Defense Regiment, which is currently stationed in Kamchatka, but is responsible for the defense of the coast of Chukotka. Its units, in particular, make up the garrison of the city of Anadyr - the personnel of the regiment serve there on a rotation basis. After duty, soldiers and officers return to Kamchatka, where they rest and do combat training.

For the first time, the head of the military department, Sergei Shoigu, spoke about plans to create a division in Chukotka in 2016. He said that the new connection should become part of a single coastal defense system from the southern coast of Primorye to the Arctic. The forces concentrated on this frontier will control the strait zones of the Kuril Islands and the Bering Strait, and cover the deployment routes of the Pacific Fleet forces in the Far Eastern and Northern maritime zones.

Izvestia has already written that the new division should include unique units that will operate on four- and six-wheeled ATVs. They must patrol the coast and prevent the landing of saboteurs, and, if necessary, repel enemy landings.

    Strategically important North

The Northern Sea Route is the most important economic artery and its importance will only grow in the future. In the course of global warming, ice is melting in our northern seas, which will activate shipping in the Arctic, Vasily Kashin, director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, told Izvestiya.

“The Bering Strait is becoming a key point of the global water artery, which in the future may be of great importance for the entire world economy,” he is sure. - The division, operating together with anti-ship coastal missile systems, will allow Russia to keep the strait under control. The forces at this point will be of strategic importance. It is also the only place in the Russian Federation from where medium-range missiles can reach not only Alaska, but also the northwestern regions of the US mainland. All this increases the importance of Chukotka.

In the future, the Northern Sea Route will operate year-round, says Admiral Valentin Selivanov, ex-chief of the main headquarters of the Russian Navy.

“Foreign ships, and even more warships, cannot go along the Northern Sea Route without the permission of Russia,” he said. — The US and the West do not like this state of affairs, so there may be provocations in this direction. We saw them in the Black Sea and the Pacific Ocean. To prevent this, it was decided to strengthen our borders. We have all the capabilities and new weapons upgraded for use in the Arctic.

As a rule, such decisions are made after a thorough analysis of one's own and the forces of a potential enemy, as well as the characteristics of a probable theater of operations, he noted.

There are many applicant countries for this region, and these are not only the United States and its NATO allies, but also non-Arctic states, former Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ordzhonikidze told Izvestia.

“The United States is building up its military presence in Alaska, they have started building an icebreaker fleet, and their submarines are constantly in Arctic waters,” he said. - The NSR can bring a lot of benefits to our country - these are the flows of goods and hydrocarbons, the transit of which will bring profit. Oil and gas projects on Sakhalin are also important. The problem of the Northern Sea Route is yet to be solved. Therefore, it is important to confirm the political line and one's economic interests with a forceful presence.

    Chukotka border

There were no serious ground forces in Chukotka in recent decades. From the 1980s to the mid-1990s, the 99th motorized rifle division served there, but it was staffed with a reduced staff. The reason is that the deployment of troops in these areas is fraught with enormous difficulties, Vasily Kashin recalled in an interview with Izvestia.

    — The task must be solved at a new level, taking into account the experience of previous years, — the expert believes. - The Soviet Union at the final stage of the Cold War deployed a division in Chukotka, but everything was done without normal infrastructure, and in the 1990s it was disbanded.

Now the construction of defense infrastructure is not being forced. The reconstruction of the Ugolny airfield in Anadyr made it possible to receive all types of aircraft and helicopters. They not only provide border protection, but also supply even more remote garrisons.

The renewal of the Pacific Fleet is critical for geopolitics in the Asian region

In the 2000s, Coal was only occasionally used as a forward operational airfield for combat aviation. But in 2017, Tu-22M3 long-range bombers landed on it for the first time in history. Starting next year, Tu-160 strategic missile carriers began to fly there regularly.

In December 2020, the Ministry of Defense announced the start of permanent combat duty in Anadyr of MiG-31BM naval fighter-interceptors from the air regiment in Kamchatka. For several years now, a unit with Orlan-10 and Outpost UAVs has been on duty at Coal.

Located in Kamchatka and the combined detachment of army aviation. Transport Mi-8 and Mi-26 help supply units at Cape Schmidt and Wrangel Island. Izvestia has already written that last year it was decided to deploy Su-35 multirole fighters in Kamchatka . Their task will be to protect and patrol the northeast of the country, including the Bering Strait.

The radio engineering regiment will be created in the Central Military District by the end of 2022

A radio engineering regiment with a location in the Altai Territory will appear in the Central Military District (CVO) by the end of this year. This was reported to journalists by the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin."

"In order to further improve the combat strength of the district this year, in addition to creating separate electronic warfare battalions in the Novosibirsk and Chelyabinsk regions, we will reorganize a separate radio battalion with a deployment in the Altai Territory into a radio engineering regiment," Colonel-General Alexander Lapin said. He specified that the new units will be equipped with modern samples of special equipment: "Field-21", "Snare", "Light-KU", "Forest-steppe", "Lesochek", "Stole". "This will double the number of objects covered from unmanned aircraft and cruise missiles," said the commander of the Central Military District.

In total, by the end of 2022, the park of special electronic warfare equipment of the military district is planned to be strengthened with 70 modern weapons for various purposes.

NOTE: the unit mentioned would be the 236th battalion stationed in Biysk. In Western terms it would be an Elint or Sigint unit. Years past this was the home of the 88th Radio Engineering OSN brigade which was transferred to Ulan-Ude leaving the 236th battalion behind.

The Vislinsky Motorized Rifle Division of the Western Military District (ZVO) included a separate electronic warfare (EW) battalion.

"The entry of the unit into the division will significantly increase the reconnaissance capabilities of the unit and reduce the time it takes to obtain the necessary information," said Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev, commander of the ZVO troops.

The units of the new military unit are stationed in the Belgorod region. A separate electronic warfare battalion is designed to interact with the military command bodies of the division headquarters, create effective electronic protection and counter technical means of intelligence. It is equipped with the complexes "Leer-3", "Borisoglebsk-2" and "Resident".

The military personnel of the battalion have already started training personnel on a modular training system and work on the introduction of the most promising forms and methods of using electronic warfare units, taking into account the modern military equipment coming to the troops of the combined arms army of the Far East.

NOTE: divisions had only EW companies up to now.

We strengthen the defense of the country at the training grounds

Continuity, planning, scope from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, maximum proximity to the realities of combat - these are the priorities of combat training in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

In 2022, a large number of various exercises are planned, including international ones, which are focused on solving anti-terrorist tasks and working out new techniques and methods of joint actions. Undoubtedly, the main exam of the year will be the Vostok-2022 strategic command and staff exercise, which will receive special attention.

Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu at the first conference call in 2022 with the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation noted that it is extremely important to actively master modern weapons, new forms and methods of military operations, and introduce artificial intelligence technologies. “In the course of combat training, it is necessary to train commanders with unconventional thinking, capable of making effective decisions,” he emphasized. Combat training plans are implemented with the implementation of these instructions of the head of the military department.

The 47th Guards Tank Division was formed as part of the 1st Guards Tank Army

As already reported with reference to unofficial sources, the telegram channel bmpd, the 6th separate tank brigade (as part of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District), stationed in Mulino in the Nizhny Novgorod region, was reorganized on December 1, 2021 into the 47th guards tank division, the basis of which was the 26th guards tank regiment created from the main parts of the 6th tank brigade. On January 4, 2022, well -known American military analyst Michael Kofman also published information about the reorganization of the 6th Separate Tank Brigade into the 47th Guards Tank Division .

Western resources reported that in early February, trains with equipment from the newly formed 26th Guards Tank Regiment (including T-72B3 tanks of the 2016 model) arrived in Kursk. However, on February 17, presumably, units of this regiment were announced by the Russian officialdom as being "withdrawn to the Nizhny Novgorod region."

T-72B3M tank of the 26th Tank Regiment of the 47th Tank Division on its way to loading onto a railway platform (Kursk Region) Last week, the servicemen of the 26th Tank Regiment stationed in the Volodarsky District were greeted by distinguished guests and authorities of the Volodarsky District, who congratulated them on the start of the winter training period 2021-2022. was located a separate 6th tank brigade. Now the 26th tank regiment, which is part of the 47th guards tank division, has received a residence permit here. "

Today [February 17, 2022] a statement was published by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov. Among other things, it says "railway trains with armored vehicles of units of the 1st Tank Army of the Western Military District, which performed combat training tasks at training grounds in the Kursk and Bryansk regions, are arriving at their military garrisons in the Nizhny Novgorod region" and a map of the transfer of individual units is shown.

The 47th Guards Tank Nizhnedneprovskaya Red Banner Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Division, after being withdrawn from Germany from 1994 to 1997, was located in the village of Mulino, Nizhny Novgorod Region. In 1997, the division was trimmed and it was given the name 1147th Guards Tank Nizhnedneprovskaya Red Banner, Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky military equipment storage base (tank). In December 2005, the military equipment storage base was disbanded.

Judging by the numerous photo and video materials, new identification marks appeared on the equipment of the 27th motorized rifle brigade - red triangles. It is possible that the brigade will also be used to form the 47th Panzer Division.

NOTE: as mentioned previously the formation of this unit could facilitate the service adaption of the Armata. In that the second Tank regiment formed in the 47th could be the first unit equipped with the Armata.
