Movie Recommendation Thread Empty Movie Recommendation Thread

Post  Werewolf Sun Nov 22, 2015 4:53 pm

So i thought why not start such a thread where people can recommend good movies also less known movies then the all reappearing block busters that everyone gets their faces shuffed in.

I watched just an hour ago The Man from Earth i would say the best movie with lowest budget which is an old form of telling stories by literally telling the story in a proactive way of a 14.000 year old man and his history to modern day. It starts slowly but gives quite a good impact and impression and highly interesting. I can only recommend that movie. The good thing about the movie is the way it is told that and not just shown like a flashback.

People should recommend some movies also from different countries there are many good movies from soviet times, i saw very good mongolian movie, korean movies, japanese and highly entertaining indian movies with overly manly men.

    Recommend your movies.

Well the most famous would be "Enemy at the gates" which I liked because I could ignore all the western bullshit.

Things like lining up raw recruits and then sending them into the German Machine guns with either a rifle or a 5 round clip is pure Hollywood bullshit.

Forcing conscripts in cattle wagons to fight at the front line is amusing too... most had already lost loved ones and needed little motivation to fight... the germans gave them little alternative.

At one stage in Stalingrad the German forces threatened to overrun various Soviet positions and one unit was rushed across the river that had not been fully equipped and trained... from memory one in ten men did not have a rifle... meaning nine of ten men were properly armed as they went across the river. When they got over the river there was plenty of rifles and other weapons that belonged to men on both sides who could no longer use them. Defensive positions often had several weapons piled up at each firing point so soldiers could move from point to point in case the enemy tried to rush the position.

    Weapon shortages were WWI.

CD, heres a good old one if you dont mind black and white, its a german one called 'dogs, do you want to live forever?' I believe it was filmed amongst the actual rubble still remaining after the war.

Very good old film, it has english subs but might have to click the link if it doesnt work here.

Here one of the best movies russia has produced in recent past.

The movie's name is "We are from the future"

Very long movie 2:42h about 4 useless guys with one at least skinhead/nazi brainwashed backround and ideologies in the present are bewitched back to 1942 to find a son of an old granny they have laughed upon for asking them to burry his body if they find him. The movie is in russian obviously but it is really great movie, has a good message for the numbnut nazi ideology youths.

    Worth watching.

If you like sci-fi, go watch Alita. The best special effects ever and a Japanese manga plot which raises it above the typical
US shlock. Do not listen to any of the professional reviewers, they are all pushing PC agendas:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tjllb5oRGMo

The attack on the movie for supposedly having an exaggerated female body for Alita is a lie. I watched the movie and if anything
her bust and hips are understated. The critics are basically claiming that a normal female body form is "sexualized" and implicitly
demand that they use the body shape of a man or some obese individual. This BS is part of the current US degeneration into
    a totalitarian PC toilet.

These days all movies have to be cultural Trotksyist brainwashing platforms. All normal movies that do not serve as perception/opinion
manipulation instruments are to be defamed.

Well considering that there was no tentacle monster, no patriarchal jokes and no clothing tearing you have to deduct some points.

All films need patriarchal content and ultra sexualised female characters, actually this rule shoud extend to documentries.

    Glory to the Patriarchy!

I also I must add, that mainstream film reviewers or indeed any mainstream reviers, reporters or journalists are never more than your tipical slimy decadent propaganda pushing rodent and as such should best be avoided.

There are plenty of inderpendant reviewrs that do not share the same vile taint of decadance as thier mainstream counterparts.

The current box office leader, Captain Marvel, has had a lot of hype and controversy over its blatant SJW agenda and the
3rd wave feminist and white male hater Brie Larson lead actress.

So Hollywood and the US media were invested in the success of this movie and what you know, it's a "blockbuster".
    But wait:

WTF, How did it rake in 325 million in the first weekend with China reporting only 89 million. If you look
at movie box office returns around the world, the EU, Latin America, South East Asia and the CIS do
not have the volume of China. There is no way that the world outside of China and the USA paid

Wonder how many of Soviet Sherlock found the bad guy by modern UK methods... ie I have no proof but I think what happened benefited him so it is highly likely he did it... even though there are others who could have done it and benefit greatly from framing him for it...

Post  Isos Wed Jan 01, 2020 1:39 pm

There is this show called The Americans. Best serie of espionnage ever made. I recommand to anyone liking such films/series.

It's the story of two KGB agents married and living in US in the 80s. They are what intelligence agencies call illegals. Spies with a fake identity living in the country they spy on. They have two children.

The serie is very well made. Not something stupid like james bond or jason bourn where they fight 1 vs 30 and win. It was helped to be made by a former CIA agent so the scene and scenario are very realistic.

I really liked that serie so I share with you in case you never heard of.

    Enjoy !

Typical hollywood propaganda with the US military money sauce and a typical dickhead actor used to endoctrine stupid teenagers.

That's rather pathetic to watch when you have a brain.

Just like Star Wars shit. It sucks totally but the hollywood machine makes it a "great trilogy" thanks to assholes.

In terms of movies about airforces you should watch the south korean film Windfighters or french Les chevaliers du ciel.

    dunno

You miss something. Very good serie and it's not antirussian at all.

Can I have your opinions gentlemen?

It has the built in problem that it needs the cooperation of the US Navy, which means they get a say in the story...

Just watching the trailer I would guess that the view of the F-14 flying perhaps means Maverick is as depicted an old dog in a new force and for some reason they need his special set of skills.

Only one country flies F-14s now so I am guessing it will be some bullshit about 2/3rds of the movie trying to get him to quit, but also in the background tensions in the middle east heating up and then they need some pilot to be dropped by some high altitude stealth plane deep inside Iranian territory to rescue some guy and recover the F-14 he has made amazing upgrades to that pose a risk to US forces intending to attack Iran.

A bit like the equally boring Iron Eagle series where American teenagers who are the kids of USAF pilots could be trained up by louis gosset jnr to fly real fighter aircraft into some middle east country and rescue their daddy and fly them out nice and safe... the Americans are all good, the foreigners are all bad... the American gear is just the best, and the enemy stuff is crap or made up... like the MiG-28 Yakatory fighter from the first top gun movie.

I am sure the visuals will be stunning but very amused to see F-18s and an F-14 but no F-35 in sight... perhaps even hollywood can't sell that dog...

Topgun was a recruitment poster for the navy and I suspect this will be more of the same.

If you are interested in realistic stories about the Soviet army, and especially about the role of the airborne troops - this film is a must for you:

The plot of the film: 1977, during a large military exercise, Lieutenant Tarasov's group was given a task: within two days to find and destroy the missile control point of a simulated enemy. Absolutely cult Soviet film about Soviet paratroopers.

In this genre, there is another mega-popular film called "the Case in the square 36-80":

Unfortunately, I can't find versions with English subtitles, but if someone still hasn't seen these movies, I highly recommend watching them.

Pretty shitty film. Don't loose your time watching it. The scene with the ambassador are made by a dickhead similar to Bush, McCain or Regan. The author which must a brainwashed asshole from Texas or something like that probably masturbated while writting this scene when the ambassador tells the republican dickead politician that they lost an alfa class.
