Not necessarily, I certainly wasn't convinced the first time... but, it's hard to tell really. I just feel like there would have been some actual footage by now if it did happen to be honest.

The Syrian Arab Republic has received from Russia the latest upgraded Sukhoi Su-24M2.

Upgraded front bombers Su-24M2 were transferred under the provision of military-technical assistance to the Syrian Army in the fight against the "Islamic State" terrorist organizations. *

Bombers were a part of the Syrian Armed Forces of the presence of air and space forces of the Russian Federation

According to some reports, the Syrian side has already received two Sukhoi Su-24M2. There are plans to transfer eight military vehicles from the Russian VKS.

Upgraded bomber Su-24M2 has at its disposal the latest avionics (avionics), and an expanded list of weapons used. The set allows you to extend the range of avionics used precision-guided weapons, which is composed of such missiles as the Kh-31P and Kh-59M. Bomber can also be used svobodnopadayuschie bomb with a complex flight path. Sukhoi Su-24M2 was first shown to the public at the exhibition MAKS-2001.

Excellent news. I hope, Syrian AF Will receive a squadron of Su-24M2 from RuAF, which are now in the process of replacement with Su-34. I'm sure those planes are equipped with modern data links, that those Syrian Su-24M2 could work in data link network with RuAF, what will increase capabilities of Syrian AF in fighting with terrorists.

Putin reached a deal with Kerry to ground the Syrian air force. Yet another stupid mistake from him. The new deal would target Nusra, which no longer exists after rebranding.

Russia 'DELIBERATELY bombed secret military base in Syria used by elite American and British forces'

Troops were still inside the base just 24 hours before the June 16 attack. US officials and rebel commanders told the Journal that the outpost was hit with cluster munitions.US attempts to wave off the Russians failed to prevent a second air strike on the base, the report said.

About three weeks later, on July 12, Russian warplanes hit a rebel camp used by family members of CIA-backed fighters about 50 miles west of At-Tanf, the report said.

excellent news, but i also think Syria could do with some Mig-29SMT as well. Russia could even supply Some Su-25 which would be ideal for the type of conflict in Syria. Russia also has loads of Mi-24 nearing the end of their service life which would also be ideal. Its a real shame India (via Russia) doesn't donate its Mig-21 and Mig-27 which it is slowly taking out of service to Syria which would also be ideal Syrian pilots could just jump straight into these (Mig-27 will fly just like the Syrian Mig-23) and China could donate its Nanchang Q-5 which is also being phased out. Syria doesnt really need hi tech aircraft right now ground attack aircraft which is reliable, easy to service and maintain. Even getting hold of some secondhand armed L-39 is still good enough for the job, cheap, reliable, easy to fly, only real draw back is its slower speed compared to Su-24, Mig-21, Mig-23 etc. but being small and agile should help, but still an aircraft travelling at 300-400 mph is still a pretty hard target to hit with machine guns and AA guns, but then if more quicker aircraft took the AA guns out first leaving the rest for the L-39. Of course Yak-130 would also be suitable. I doubt Syria is still training new pilot recruits considering all money is being used for ammo, fuel etc, but if they did the L-39 would also be useful as there would be less training needed for the L-39 compared to Mig-29, Su-24 etc.

The whole "Saudi's bribing Russians" is a horse beaten to death, Saudi's failed over the past 4 years at every attempt, they actually think Russia forget about their hijinx in Afghanistan, Central Asia, The Caucuses, oil manupilation...their paltry sums peddled by the SaudiMight's is insignificant compared what they'll receive sticking the coarse with Iran.

The SyAF has already received 9 Mig-29SMP upgrades which are close to SMT standards.

If Syria have to take any jets from China, they should take JH-7A with WMD-7 targeting pods for all day precission attacks. It is Quite a big plane and could carry a lot of armament on its 11 hardpoints.

    Not October now.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia will deploy Admiral Kuznetsov, the country's only aircraft carrier, in the Mediterranean Sea before the end of 2016 for a period of up to four months, Adm. Igor Kasatonov, the former head of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, said in an interview.

Earlier in July, a source familiar with the matter told RIA Novosti that the aircraft carrier would be deployed in the Mediterranean no sooner than October.

"The ship will set off [for the Mediterranean] at the end of the year. The carrier battle group, which will include several screening ships, will be formed. Allegedly, a nuclear multi-role submarine will be [in the group]. The ship's deployment is designed to last for 3-4 months," Kasatonov, who also was the first deputy commander of Russia's Navy, told RIA Novosti. He added that up to a certain point, the group would be escorted by IL-38 anti-submarine aircraft and Tu-142 long range aircraft and possibly the carrier battle group could work with Tu-160 strategic bombers.

Russian chopper crash in northen Idlib ... cry

Terrorist having a field day with the body.

Russian chopper crashes in northeast Idlib

    https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/russian-chopper-crashes-northeast-idlib/

It looks the Russian Electronic warfare not working so well , as Russia expected.
And no idea what was a chopper doing in IDLIB ,  perhaps stopping a cargo of weapons
from Turkey? Because those were more really needed in Aleppo.

Whatever it happened , Terrorist shouldn't be allowed to so easily drag Pilot bodies and
make propaganda with them , it shows Russia limited Airforce there , allows choppers to do missions alone without a Plane Backup. It will be interesting to know what shut down the chopper , if it was a moderate cannibal or a "loss missile" from NATO.  can't wait to see what
the defense minister says. I really think Russia should have AWACS planes fully monitoring what
    happens to their planes.

    Update..

A Russian Mi-8 helicopter has been shot down by ground fire in Syria following delivery of humanitarian supplies to Aleppo, the Defense Ministry said in a statement. The three crew and two officers from Russia's reconciliation center were returning to base.
The condition of those on board has yet to be established, the ministry said.

    https://www.rt.com/news/354128-russian-helicopter-syria-down/

Russia should next time drop themobaric bombs and poison on IDLIB region
and screw the humanitarian aid. The people in IDLIB was one of the zone largely
    friendly to terrorist.

Terrible news, and several gruesome images and videos have been published by terrorist scum. In addition, there are rumours that one of the passengers was a woman/translator, and that the helicopter was carrying the humanitarian aid delivery/negotiators.

The only question that needs to be asked is why the RuAF didn't make an immediate appearance and cleanse those savages desecrating the bodies and cheering around. Literally leave none alive in Idlib. I honestly don't understand the contempt for lives of Russian servicemen that Russian command displays. You can't bring back the dead and comfort their families, but at least prevent the morbid scum from celebrating, and don't let their deaths be for nothing. At this point the Russian casualties have already mounted, time to reconsider launching a step by step extermination operation, because this is clearly not working.

And I believe we all know the source and type of weapons responsible for all airforce losses in Syria.

It's terrible what happened to the Russian servicemen at the hands of Idlib terrorists. RIP heroes. At the end of the day, their blood is on Putin's hands, who stupidly fell for Kerry's fake peace deal and pulled planes out of Latakia and stopped bombing terrorists. Had he continued the fight in February, the war would have been over by now.

This is so frustrating. As more Russian casualties continue to mount the more laugher the American terrorists and their jihadi dogs are getting, until how many Russian servicemen are murdered before Russian authorities declare a war of annihilation and wipe out the terrorist pigs from the face of the planet??!?
