Look at the finish on two of the wooden ak's, bluing of the reciever is clean. Those weapons have been pampered before being put back at the armory. They're fine. It's just that's the mix is so curious, that à Houthis joke, was ready before you killed my buzz.

Also given the size of the stockpile of Russia in the small arms department that's not really surprising, they probably came from a strategic stockpile, those are likely old brand new AKs, produced, immediately put in storage and never used since.

Don't see what's so strange about it. In my unit we had a few of these old-timers too; in the early days our base was short on weapons (I guess after the independent detachment of Naval Infantry that performed guard duty at our base was disbanded back in 2008 or so); so some of the officers brought in these older rifles from other units. Later on (during my service) we got a huge shipment of the later 74 models with the plum finish. But the older 74s that we had, we kept too.

Yeah they look a little different. But they work. They're in the same calibre. They function exactly the same and have the same characteristics. So why not make use of them?

It is quite easy actually. Russia just has to do a heck of a better job of protecting its borders. So this includes cutting off Georgia and Ukraine whom are the main destinations for radicals to cross into Russia. So they put a stop to that. Maybe they will have to start putting up walls/fences? Maybe more UAVs to patrol the area (they are planning to bring in UAV blimps), maybe more outposts throughout the borders for border control, more money for intelligence, so on so forth. China is no different. China is better at containing such an issue as they will place a massive amount of men in the area to contain any little issue. Russia on the other hand plays too nice but that will eventually go away.

yeah basically this. The rifles were produced, maybe used for training and qualification, and that's it. However two of the plum 74 74's look like they have a straight dust cover, which is à Russian later spec. Also muzzle brakes are fun.

Looks like this guy's Ak is on the T-90, and he has a pimped up Ak instead.

Well, not really. When it comes down to equipment, surely, imports kills the industry. At least Patria is produced locally, though it is not country design.
But you don't need tanks, artillery and airforce to beat even ones of the best equipped armies in the world, do you? Take a Houthis for example...

You could tell back in 1410 that Commonwealth will beat Teutons in one of the biggest medieval  cavalry battle, all would laught you off. Biggest mistake Teutons made is that they didn't expected war and were caught off guard.



Anyway, I don't see a hope for Poland in this shape and form. Most Poles are more afraid of unpredictable Germany than any "eastern invasion', even though Germans are more liberal right now than at any point in their history.
EU is really on the crossroads now and it is disintegrating at faster pace than I've could imagine. There are going to be harder times for country, policy will change dozens of times in next decade I guess..
