Yeah because Russia never supplied any genuine humanitarian aid to the rebel-controlled areas of the Donbass - don't you know; it were always concealed missiles and tanks

Well, it is actually up to Assad to state that other partties are no longer allowed to fly into its airspace. So he can state specifically Turkey and that such planes will be shot down. Then Russia can swat the turkish flies from the sky.Neutrality wrote:Zivo wrote:Erdogan: We’ll continue shooting down planes violating our airspace

Really hoping the VKS will be baiting Turkish F-16s into S-400/300s operation area.

I am sure they are legally bound to keep the straits open via a treaty they signed in the 1920s
They cant close it its aganist international law and threatys that were signed though history, unless they feel like declaring war on Russia then sure.
Let's say Turkey closes the straits. Then what Russia is going to do? Write an angry letter? They will summon the UN meeting, where Turkey will say they won't allow more arms to Syria that are being used to kill civilians. I know that this is bollocks, but they will say it. Then what? Attack Turkey? How, with what?
OK, they will begin bombing the defense installations near the straits. Turkey asks for help from NATO, then what Russia is going to do?
Hmm. I am surprised Putin didnt state something like "Syria and Assad are not your problem or your jurisdiction, so you have no right to demand who stays or goes". Not only would Russia gain even more popularity, but also give open warning to others.BKP wrote: Well, Hollande talks were a dud, no surprise. Putin said the talks were "constructive." That means absolutely nothing was accomplished. And Hollande ended with the latest version of the "Assad must go" mantra. Both looked sour They. I'd say the French have had their little revenge now, and should be eased back out of Syrian airspace.

The most important thing is what Putin said about Turkey, and it was pretty good and damning for them (this living pipeline, i liked that ).
Little too soft for my liking. But saying that normal relationship with Turkey are matter of a past is a good sign.
