They already have conducted airstrikes over Syria, so there is that... I doubt it... The "international community" (we all know who that is) would use chemical weapons as their excuse for toppling Assad and his followers. That is the last thing Syria needs right now, more so with the threat of ISIS. If anything, they should deploy their Bastion-P systems and all off their SAM's in order to scare "them" off. Pentagon: F-22s used in combat for first time in Syria
This week’s strike against Islamic State militants in Syria by the United States marked the first time that the Pentagon has deployed its F-22 Raptor jets into combat, the Defense Department acknowledged on Tuesday.

Lt. Gen. William Mayville, the director of ops for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, acknowledged during a Department of Defense briefing on Tuesday morning that the strikes launched by the US hours earlier were the first ever to involve F-22s — a fifth-generation aircraft that’s capable of dropping precisions bombs on targets from 15 miles away.

“What we were looking at were the effects we wanted to see on the target areas and what platforms in the region would be best suited to do that,” Mayville told reporters at the Pentagon. “We had a large menu of targets to strike from and we chose from there. Really it’s less the platform then the effects we seek.” .....

And using F-22s in Syria suggests they are afraid of losing pilots to the Syrian air defence, but not so afraid they might be able to talk to the Syrians or Iranians.

I wonder how many pilots the F-22s oxygen system will kill...

Is it worth sending a few specialists to Syria with radar and radio equipment to check the skies... hint... don't hide in the Chinese embassy...

Planes don't fly on their own and unlike in computer games they don't fly around killing dozens of targets.

Most missions will have a primary target and some times a secondary target and that is it.

Two flights of F-22s with 4 planes in each flight, you would have one plane with two laser guided bombs and one to mark the target to allow the plane with the bomb to fly an optimum flight path to toss loft the bomb from a distance, while the remaining two aircraft in each flight will have AAMs and ARMs and will be looking for threats.

The first flight will go in and hit the target while the other flight will loiter looking for targets and threats... after the first attack the second flight will check the target is destroyed and if it is they all go home.

If it isn't the second flight attacks the target...

In other words the Pentagon is trying to make it look that Syrian air defenses cannot shot down the F-22 and now they can claim how stealthy is the F-22 because the Syrian defenses could not shot it down.. not mentioning of course that the Syrian Air defenses are not firing at them and that the zone they fly the Syria army do not have air defenses sites.

If the F-22s fly in areas controlled by ISIS there is little chance ground defences will be a threat... plus what is the point of having them if you never use them... I suspect they will try to use them near the Iranian border too... if they get spotted they and to fly there for safety reasons, or it was a navigation error.

Americans will never take a HUGE Risk that is Unnecessary , that could allow their enemies to steal its technology.
in case there is an accident or that the Syrian army choose to shot down their planes with their airforce it will be really bad PR for US if the plane is shot down by a mig-29.. Also Russia have installed very capable radars in Syria to detect any low observable planes and decent ranges.and they do know that S-300s or even S-400s could be hidden in Syria by RUssia operated by them.. US will never take such very high risk.. Knowing that Russia could have planes and pilots in any military base. that will be stupid .

On more propaganda the pentagon is also saying is "bombing Syrian Government controlled zones" without its permission like Homes and or launching cruise missiles right over the Syrian Capital where Assad live. thats total bullshit . I hate to say it but it is rather common on this forum... look at the thread about the current situation in the Ukraine and many members have voiced outrage at what the Kiev forces have done and then suggested it be done to all western oriented Ukrainians.

I don't need to name names... it is easy enough to look for yourself.

In the situation in the Ukraine no matter what happens these people have to live near each other... whether the country splits or stays together they will remain neighbours for the next few hundred years... partial extermination is hardly an answer.

Back on topic here... equipping the locals to deal with the problem and for the west that created the problem stop feeding it and leave and let the locals sort it out. If they ask for help... fine, but otherwise don't interfere.

Just saw a news report on RT where they showed a recent speech by Biden where he blamed the whole ISIS situation on "Americas Allies" like Turkey, Quatar, Saudi Arabia for handing out aide to everyone prepared to fight Assad and not looking seriously at who they were actually giving aide to.
