First official footage of the aircraft from Syria. It looks like they completely masked the star and RF number isn't it? They should leave the star imo. That Su-24 with the peeled paint off it's nose, i think i've seen it recently, from that we can guess what unit is from.

A Syrian presidential aide has praised Russian air support in the fight against terrorists, slamming the West’s “ineffective” airstrikes. Media adviser Bouthaina Shaaban told RT she believes Russian intervention will help stabilize the situation in Syria.

Speaking on behalf of her country, President Assad’s political and media adviser has said that Syria “hopes” that Russia’s assistance will help Damascus “undermine terrorism” and “restore peace and security”.

Last week we have saw a drastic increase in Russian warships movements through Turkish Straits.

One ship Alexander Otrakovski returned to the Black Sea, while 6 other warships R-109, Ladny, Moskva, Saratov, Nikolay Filchenkov and KIL-158 made their southbound passage. The landings ship are on their cargo delivery missions whereas the larger warships are going to take part in a naval exercise around Cyprus, on 30 September 2015.

Saudi Arabia demands Russia end Syria raids, criticizes Iran

DUBAI (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia, a leading foe of President Bashar al-Assad, demanded his ally Russia end its raids on Syria, saying the strikes had caused civilian casualties while failing to target the hardline Islamic State militants Moscow says it opposes.

In remarks at the United Nations in New York, a senior Saudi diplomat suggested both Russia and Assad's other main ally Iran could not claim to fight Islamic State "terrorism" at the same time as supporting the "terrorism" of the Syrian authorities.

Saudi ambassador Abdallah Al-Mouallimi expressed "profound concern regarding the military operations which Russian forces have carried out in Homs and Hama today, places where ISIS forces are not present. These attacks led to a number of innocent victims. We demand it stop immediately and not recur."

Russian Airstrikes Destroy ISIL HQ in Syria

The Russian Air Force overnight destroyed a terrorist headquarters and arms depot in Syria’s northwestern Idlib region during airstrikes aimed at Islamic State militants, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday.

More than 50 Russian Air Force airplanes and helicopters are involved in airstrikes against Islamic State positions in Syria, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday.

“The aviation group was deployed very quickly. We were able to do this since the main supplies of material and arms were stored in the material-technical support point in Tartus [Syria]. All that was left to do was to deploy aviation and bring some equipment in,” the press service said.

Russia launched an aerial campaign on Wednesday, at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad, targeting eight IS military hardware, arms and fuel depots. To that end, Moscow recently established a joint Baghdad Information Center with Iran, Iraq and Syria to coordinate efforts in combating the terrorist group.

The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed that it has already carried out some 20 combat missions in Syria since the campaign started, striking at least eight ISIL targets.

As shown on the ground and given the rather limited size of the explosion, those are 250/500 kg bombs. 2000 kg bombs would have ruined a lot of people's day. One can always hope.
