Source: the first two missiles with the Avangard block will be on duty in the coming weeks attack  attack  russia

Currently, work is underway on their preparation and loading into the silos

November 13. / TASS /. The first two UR-100N UTTX intercontinental ballistic missiles equipped with the Avangard nuclear planning block will be put on pilot combat duty in the coming weeks. Currently, work is underway on the preparation and loading of missiles into the mines, a source in the military-industrial complex told TASS on Wednesday.

"In late November and early December, two UR-100N UTTX missiles from the first regiment of the Avangard complexes, which are equipped with hypersonic gliding wing units of the first regiment of the Avangard complexes, will take up pilot combat duty in the Dombarovskaya division of the Strategic Missile Forces,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

The source said that currently in the positional area "work is underway on the preparation of both missiles and their loading into the mines, the functioning of the regiment's protected command post and other activities are being tested."

The Strategic Missile Forces did not comment on the information provided by the source by telephone. TASS sent a request to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The few HGVs that will enter service over the next few years will not increase the capabilities of Russian strategic forces.

    Avangard goes on both

One Avangard per UR-100N, three Avangards per Sarmat

    There is no mini HGV

The first ten they put in to service will be the most critical... they will be the weapons aimed at fixed US ABM assets in europe and the us, so when they defeat the ABM defences all other missiles will have no trouble penetrating to their targets unhindered...

That we know until now there is no mini HGV tested, don't mean they are not developing one.

    It's a separate topic

What matters for Avangard is that it has two options for rocket carrier: UR-100N and Sarmat

As per Pavel Podvig, Avangard is for UR-100N only:

    http://russianforces.org/blog/2018/10/avangard_hypersonic_boost-glid.shtml

Just one note on the missile that will be used in the Avangard system. There have been speculations that it will be the new Sarmat, but apparently that's not the case - the boost-glide vehicle was associated with UR-100NUTTH/SS-19 from the very beginning of the program in the 1980s, it used the missile during the tests, and will stay with it until the end. Russia got about 30 "dry" UR-100NUTTH missiles that it received from Ukraine - since these missiles have never been fueled they have a few decades of combat service in them.

I know his blog is normally biased against Russia, but still do we have any source (ideally quoting some senior Govt official or MOD representative) which mentions Avangard being adopted for Sarmat as well?

Whether Avangard is going on Sarmat or not, even having one per missile on 30 or so UR-100N missiles would still be an absolutely formidable deterrence.

Pavel is a retard.  It is simple as that.

BTW, contract is for a total of 60 Avangards. So do the math. Minus all the tests used too.

The UR-100´s are used first because they are there and ready. Because of the capability of Sarmat to fly over the south pole to deliver it´s warheads it doesn´t need a hypersonic glider urgently. In the years after it´s first deployment some Sarmat´s will receive Avangard.

Podvig sings the sweet music to his NATO master's ears. All of his "analysis" is tendentious anti-Russia pap. Since he has some IQ
he makes it sound credible, but it is really the usual wishful thinking projection with loads of "sky is falling" rubbish.

    Also common sense

0f those 30 about 10 will be used up for tests and practice over time so naturally they will install them on follow-up missile after these 30 are operational

    Follow-up missile is Sarmat

ok so a 60 warhead contract would indeed point towards plans to deploy Avangard on missiles other than UR-100N as well. Any idea when was this contract signed? Was it after the Avangard test in December 2018 or before it? Can you post some link of news source of this contract?

It was quoted by Basurin I believe.  It was even Pavel Podvig who quoted it as 60 in its lifetime.  He just cant stay consistent.

Most links post to CNBC bullshit.

They haven't revealed anything, I doubt the US side actually saw the actual warhead. Remember that time US inspectors tried to see the warhead on a Yars launcher vehicle, but the Russian side refused to lift the tarp? Besides the START Treaty is going to die in 2020-21 (with no hope in renewal), there's no point in trying to reveal anything of substance now.
