How many more years or decades can Russia maintain it's current output?

Very long time.  Hundreds of years with current fields.  With new fields, even longer.

Gas yes, but oil, not sure? scratch

I guess the fate of long-term Russian oil industry relies on Arctic oil and shale oil from the Bazhenov formation.

It depends how big the new finds are.

I have read that the existing wells in places like Khanty-Mansyisk have already matured.

Energy called terms of balancing the oil market

According to Alexander Novak, the imbalance of supply and demand on the oil market shrinking, the surplus will disappear in the second half of 2016

    http://www.interfax.ru/business/479503

Moscow. November 16th. INTERFAX.RU - On the oil market is reducing the imbalance of supply and demand, excess supply will be liquidated in the second half of 2016, he told reporters Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

"What we believe is happening in the oil market? Who is reducing imbalances, the gradual reduction of the imbalance between supply and demand. It is estimated somewhere, this imbalance in the 1.5-2 million barrels per day at the beginning of the fall in prices" . - he said.

"Today, we see that in the US where some 500 thousand barrels per day has fallen in comparison with the month of April. In general, there are other countries that are at low prices reduced production volumes," - continued the Minister.

At the same time, according to Nowak, quickly reduced the imbalance can not be, so now the prices are quite low.

According the Ministry of Energy, which is based on the data of the majority of experts of the oil industry, the imbalance between supply and demand must disappear in the second half of 2016. At this point, it should disappear over the supply of oil, which exceeds the increase in demand.

Oil prices in the medium term

According to Novak, the price of oil in the medium term in the $ 50-60 per barrel to reflect the balance of supply and demand. "As prices are difficult to predict, and, you know, there are so many different factors affect the price. I have earlier said that the price in the medium term, $ 50-60, in my opinion, will reflect a balance of supply and demand", - said, he.

The Minister added that there are more fundamental assessment. For example, if the balance of supply and demand will turn in favor of the demand, the price of oil could rise significantly. "We do not exclude it, but I would not want to predict it, it's a thankless job," - said Novak, adding that it is better to focus on averages, which are incorporated, including in the budget.

    Consultations with OPEC

Novak also said that OPEC is ready for consultations with Russia to assess the situation on the oil market. At the expert level there is agreement that the consultations will continue in mid-December. "We focus on mid-December. The signals are that there is a desire to such a meeting to be held, but it needs to carry out organizational work with all countries to agree," - said the minister, adding that if the agreement is reached, Russia is ready to participate in such a meeting .

Novak believes that the consolidated position of OPEC to reduce oil production there, although there are some countries that offer such an approach.

Energy Minister also said that he expected investment in the Russian oil sector this year will increase to expect 1 trillion 188 billion rubles. This is the case of vertically integrated companies in the oil complex.

Energy Ministry forecasts growth in oil production in Russia in 2015 to 533 million tons (last year was 526.3 million tons).

So they propose safer method is keeping Ukraine as transit country? Lol.  I think it is high time Russia just builds a hub on the borders and EU countries then have to pau for the shipments themselves while Russia just gets its money.  Cancel all current contracts, no more discounts and simple as that.  They can purchase gas from the upcoming LNG plant.

God damn the Europeans are retarded.

Its only a couple of the 9 Eastern Europe countries objecting that are retarded. Those in the south are acting in self interest as NS2 will reduce the need for a new southern gas pipe replacing the proposed South and Turk Streams, which will affect them.

They do seem to be tying themselves in knots tho' as they try to argue that the Germans in particular that this extra pipe capacity means they don't have the ability to buy from anywhere but Russia and that they can't be trusted to decide what satisfies their own energy security needs.

This is from your link, my highlights.

In a joint letter to the European Council president Donald Tusk, the countries demand that "the proposed pipeline between Russia and Germany be put on the agenda of next month’s summit of EU leaders, in an attempt to pressure Brussels to withhold its approval," the newspaper wrote. The new pipeline, which will be the second to connect Russia and Germany under the Baltic Sea, "will increase Europe’s dependence on Russian gas monopoly Gazprom." According to the letter, the project "contradicts the EU’s own energy diversification and security policies" while the leading countries of the European Union that support it are putting their "own economic needs ahead of their energy security."

This was posted on reuters in October:
UPDATE 1-Russia to raise mineral extraction tax rate on Gazprom by 36.7 pct in 2016

They decided not to increase extraction taxation on oil though as it is said that it would cut into opening of new wells. But that dream may fall short if oil prices drop to $30/bbl and thus increase in taxation on it may happen anyway.

People are afraid to tax the crap out of their oil companies, but this is essentially what Norway did and it worked for them. Gazprom and Rosneft are partially owned by the government. Maybe the government needs to take over 100% one of the companies dealing with export and domestic affairs of oil and gas, and heavily tax it as all profits would go to the budget. But that wont happen as there is a demand to privatization.

Russia Surpasses Saudi Arabia in Oil Production in October - Rosstat

According to Rosstat, export of oil from Russia in January-October increased by 7.6 percent compared to the same period in 2014.

In October, oil production in Russia was estimated at 10.359 million barrels per day, while in Saudi Arabia it totaled 10.125 million barrels per day. In September, on the other hand, Saudi Arabia outpaced Russia, producing on average 10.255 million barrels of oil per day.

According to Rosstat, export of oil from Russia in January-October increased by 7.6 percent compared to the same period in 2014.

Between January and October, oil exports from Russia accounted for 26.6 percent of all Russian exports and for 41.5 percent of energy products exports, almost 5 percent and 4 percent lower than figures for the same period in 2014.

It would be nice if Russia could use nuclear power to liquify the natural gas for very little cost and ship it out at the
usual 100% markup. Selling cheap pipeline gas to a bunch of hater ingrates has got to stop.

Russia is building LNG plants. More of them. Currently has 1, building 3 more (or possibly more). 1 in St.Petersburg, and 1 in Vladivostok.

LNG will still be cheap for many and easy to obtain and if Nord 2 stream dies, and all Russia has left to sell to Europe is that same pipeline through Ukraine, they could essentially just cancel control on that pipeline and hand over the control of it (sell it of course) to EU and Ukraine and let them fight each other on stolen gas. So in other words, they still sell oil/gas to Europe through Ukraine, but it is up to EU to secure the flow from Ukraine to the rest of them. So in this case, next time Ukraine is caught siphoning gas and what not, it is essentially stealing it from EU and not Russia, and it would be up to EU to deal with Ukraine on that matter, while Russia can just wash its hands.

From last link I posted on here, China is still main market for Russian LNG and will be on top of the power of Siberia pipeline, at least till they decide to finally sign on Power of Siberia 2. Already they signed the agreement on the border connection (Power of Siberia 1).

EU and rest will more than likely end up obtaining more LNG from Russia and the transport of it will be fairly cheap (railway and shipping as example). Other Asian countries will also be interested in it too.

    If GG translate is correct.

Then Germany basically just said: "F*** it, we will do Nord Stream 2 with Russia, you can protest for all your life and we won't f****ing care."

    http://www.spiegel.de/spiegel/vorab/bundesregierung-will-neue-ostsee-pipeline-nicht-verhindern-a-1069332.html

    From Warszawa, again

    http://sputniknews.com/europe/20160104/1032656144/poland-nord-stream.html

Warsaw wants planned gas pipelines delivering Russian gas to Europe, such as Nord Stream 2, to run through Poland, Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski said Monday.

The Poles need to understand that, Nord Stream's intention is to NOT going through Poland.

So there is no way NS version 2 will let Poland have any share in it.
