Ha ha, check this stuff they serve to journalists.

Basically in article it says how "military source" recognised this drone in pic and said its not "exacly Orlan" how they share great resemblance and some characteristics but how its different (in configuration and payload - DUH dont you say), and how its "SECRET PROJECT" and how you cant find any data about it in media (ill vomit now brb), and apparently company from Peterburg which produces Orlan said its not their product and how they did not participate directly in its design or production. Also that military source apparently stated how its not in use by Russian MoD but other "services", refusing to say more.

Well good job keeping it secret they have been shot down since mid 2014. in Ukraine and late 2014. in Syria. Everyone identified it as Orlan 10 derivate, and now suddenly unknown "source" claims oposite Very Happy Being produced by one company or other doesnt make much difference. Super secret projects and tactical UAVs under 10kg do not go toghether i must add.

This UAV in Turkey more looks like it crash that to be shot down by F-16. It looks in too good shape for being hit by Sidewinder or 20 mm gun.

It does not look burned either. It should have some kind of burns if it was shot down, by projectiles or missiles.

Damage is limited but it could have been proximity fused and only wings sustained dmg, you never know physics is a bitch. But it truly looks in extremly good shape considering fact it was "shot down".

All Anti Aircraft missiles have proximity fuze and therefore use FRAGmentation warheads to enhance their lethality, to compensate the proximity detonation. It would be ineviteble to sustain any kind of fragmentation damage.

I am aware they all have proximity fuse, but we do not know what was used to shoot it down, it might have been cannon, missile, they might have even shot it down by flying in proximity of it, wouldnt be first time someone takes out drone by engine turbulence.

We have an image of an undamaged UAV, undamaged from projectiles/SAM's and we have a claim that it was shot down. So one of that claims is bullshit and the picture tells us which story is bullshit.

Well you never know, maybe dmg that shot it down is not clearly visible on photos. There are parts missing there obviously. It might have crashed itself i agree, or it was operator mistake etc etc. But lets see some further reports, maybe Turks release some additional info on how they "shot it down".

Orlan in Turkey most definitely didn't got shot down. Same as for the other Orlan that fell in Syria. They most probably have some kinks with the link. Same issues happened to Iranians with their own drone.

Or "purchased" by Turkey in crashed form from, say, Ukraine.

    Very Happy:

Sounds like it the Turkish claim is a bit shaky.

To translate Solncepek's post: the manufacturer of Orlan UAV's says the "shot down" drone is not an Orlan.

It's possibly a Rubezh UAV or maybe an Iranian made light UAV (I'm not really familiar with them)
