Greetings from Krimu
Glad to be here. I'm another transplant for MP Forum although I did join The Mess. For those of you from MP you know me as jageraus.

Welcome, glad to have you! Your insights into the events and current situation in Crimea have been invaluable, one of the only reasons I ever check the butthurt thread.

greetings
Thanks, gentlemen. I'll try to keep the noise down to a dull roar. We'll be busy as all get out for the next couple weeks getting ready for the big day but I'll check in daily.

So happy to see you here!!
I joined The Mess as well, but this morning can't log in.
I could about midnight last night, but now I can not.
Don't know if they have a glitch or scoping out who comes here.

I am quite pleased you are here also. Mess seems to be having spotty troubles with the sight. I'm also sure they are a bit inundated with new apps as the lifeboats are leaving the ship.

Thank you for the welcome. You don't know how correct you are in both statements.

Re: Greetings from Krimu
Hello, auslander!
I want to say a big thank you for all your posts at MPN about the situation in Crimea.
Half of my family (by father's side) lives in the area near Krasnoperekopsk, I visited Crimea almost every year for a ~month when I was a kid and then a student - I just fell in love with everything and everyone from that area. Despite that region being poor (I'm talking about people living in the villages, and the infrastructure), never in my life have I seen more friendly people than the Crimeans.
Last time I visited Crimea was in 2009, and thanks to my then gf, I stayed at Sevastopol for 3 days - that was my long time dream - we visited Sapun gora, I've seen Moskva cruiser, Hersones (managed to sneak there for free, we crossed to the area through the near-by beach ), Balaklava. It's a beautiful city with great people. I'm jealous (in a good way) for you.
When things went south last February, I almost couldn't sleep, - monitored every bit of news from Crimea until 3-4 AM for a month or two. At first I wasn't glad where the things were going (I hoped that the situation would be like after the first Maidan - people were angry after Yushenko came to power but almost nothing has changed to good or worse in their ordinary lives after that), but now I'm happy that my family is protected from democratic rockets and Edina Ukraina shells, and my cousin who served in Naval specnaz somewhere near Nikolaev in 2008-2009 doesn't have to roleplay Dirlewanger's soldier somewhere in Kramatorsk.
I most definitely will visit Crimea again, but it will be only in 2-3 years, I think. (however my father visited his family last September and is going there in June this year)
So all your posts about the changes in ordinary life in Crimea are like gold to me. Again, thank you and all the luck to you and your family!

Greetings from Krimu
Bolt, thank you so much for your compliments on my feeble attempts to speak of the events here. When you come to Krimu again contact me beforehand and we'll get together. Most air traffic still comes in to Sim but I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the aerodrome the next time you arrive. Things are normal and quiet here, still, but we are waiting with some trepidation for the summer plague of tourists to arrive.
Papa Dragon, great to see you here, too! More and more familiar and sensible faces are appearing and the environment is pretty friendly.

Great that you are here too! I'll continue to post what I see and what goes on, warts and all. For instance, it would be nice if they really got to work on the danged roads instead of letting contracts and then 3 months later having to bring charges for shoddy or no work.
