Russian-Argentinian relations reach highest in history — Russian deputy foreign minister

Regarding the economy and investments, Moscow and Buenos Aires are on the threshold of implementing major projects, especially in the nuclear and electrical energy, Srgey Ryabkov notes

BUENOS AIRES, October 22. /TASS/. Relations between Russia and Argentina have reached the highest degree of efficiency over their whole history, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told TASS on Wednesday.

"The relations are as good as new now," Ryabkov said. "Now we are getting to the best period from the point of view of efficiency and positive sentiments."

Both countries have been developing contacts in all spheres, he said.

"Our stances in a political dialogue are close and we share a rather meaty agenda," the deputy foreign minister said. "As for the economy and investments, we are on the threshold of implementing major projects, especially in the nuclear and electrical energy."

Russia and Argentina are engaged in common cultural projects: tours of celebrated artists, exhibitions, reciprocal days of culture and numerous festivals.

Along with this, Ryabkov said the two countries "exert efforts to reform the global finance system."

"All these issues on bilateral agenda comprise an overwhelming strategic partnership," he said.

Last April, Argentinian President Cristina de Kirchner paid a visit to Russia. The heads of state put their signatures under a joint statement establishing the overwhelming strategic partnership and also under other 20 agreements. In particular, the Russian state-owned nuclear corporation Rosatom and Argentinian Ministry of Federal Planning, Public Investment and Services signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the construction of a nuclear power plant in the South American country.

Diplomatic relations between the Russian Empire and Argentina were established on October 22, 1885, terminated in October 1917, and resumed between the USSR and Argentina in 1946. In December 1991, Argentina recognized the Russian Federation as successor of the USSR.

Thus, in 2015 Russia and Argentina mark the 130th anniversary since diplomatic relations were established. On that day the Russian Empire’s foreign ministry appointed Alexander Ionin, a writer and traveller exploring South America, the ambassador to Argentina.

This is MSM and minority opposition forces in Congress' wet dream. Nobody denies that the Rousseff gvmt is in trouble, but today an impeachment procedure is practically nonexistant. You need 2/3 of Congress for approval and this is simply impossible to achieve.

Argentina Signs $1.9-Billion Deal With Russia’s VEB for Power Plant Construction

Argentina’s Finance Ministry has signed an agreement with Russia’s Bank for Development (VEB) for the implementation of the Chihuido-1 hydroelectric power plant project.

MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – The deal, signed in Moscow on Friday, is worth almost $1.9 billion, the ministry said. The total cost of the project is about $2.2 billion, thus Argentina now has about 85 percent of the funds needed for its implementation.

In April 2015, Russia’s Inter RAO Group won a tender for the construction of the Chihuido-1 hydroelectric power plant on the Neuquen River, in Argentina’s Neuquen province. The power station will have a capacity of 637 megawatts.

The Inter RAO company has also expressed interest in building the Chihuido-2 plant with a 296 megawatt capacity.

Argentina’s largest province interested in developing relations with Russia

Senator Juan Manuel Pignocco said the country is interested in the spheres of infrastructure, security, cyber security, energy industry, culture and sports

    Russia - Argentina cooperation: News - Page 2 1205952

BUENOS AIRES, October 25. /TASS/. Argentina’s Buenos Aires Province is interested in developing relations with Russia in various spheres, said Juan Manuel Pignocco, senator of the Legislative Assembly of Buenos Aires Province and head of the Commission for International Trade, Mercosur Issues and Regional Integration Policy in a conversation with Russian journalists.

"We would like to develop relations in a wide range of areas: infrastructure, security, cyber security, energy industry, culture and sports. The interest is great," he said at the opening of the photo exhibition of the Russian Geographic Society dubbed "The Most Beautiful Planet" in the Senate building in Buenos Aires Province in the city of La Plata.

"Our relations with the current government are not just good: Russia is a fraternal nation to us. We have common values and views on multilateralism," he noted.

There is not enough "political will" to implement the entire potential of relations between Russia and Buenos Aires Province, Pignocco said. "It is just necessary to sit down and reach an agreement in order to further move forward more confidently and firmly," Pignocco added.

As a senator, he forwarded the initiative to annually hold events devoted to relations between Buenos Aires Province and Russia, he said. He also suggested a memorial plaque for first female cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova be mounted in one of the region’s municipalities.

In addition, in February the lawmakers are going to hold an event devoted to the second anniversary of the meeting between Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in Cuba. "It was a historic event. It unites us not just in terms of religion, but also because Pope Francis is an Argentinian," Pignocco said.

Russia likely wants good relations and trade with Brazil and Argentina and all the countries of central and south america... lets face it... there seems to be little chance with the two north american countries... but I don't see why Russia would rule out good relations with anyone that genuinely wants to trade and cooperate.

It does not hurt Russia if Argentina or Brazil get rich and powerful... it might upset the UK or US... but why should Russia care about their feelings... what are they going to do... stop trading with Russia again?

Kirchnerism (which ruled for 12 years, 2003 - 2015) now left its successor: the Frente de Todos.
This political line (sociodemocratic, no matter how Peronist it is), beyond the speeches, does not have the will to get its feet off the plate.
Therefore, I do not think that it will acquire Russian weapons. At least in large quantities and with really offensive capacity.
Everything that is spoken is pure rumor of the networks.
Just look at the amount of news that has been appearing for more than 15 years and never bought much more than a couple of Mi-17E helicopters and 8 Su-29 stunt planes. The latter were bought during the Menem government.

There may be some more weapons but in minute quantities.

Peronism is the Movement that did the most for Argentina, politically, socially, culturally, militarily, economically, etc, etc.
Furthermore, it is the political identity of the popular majorities.
But we are in a military forum and it would not be fair to occupy it in this debate.
Although there are certain people who like to promote Byzantine discussions.

we have also a lot of discussion on politics in this forum so no problem Smile

Peronism as i have observed isnt an specific ideology. It cant be described as left (Kirchnerism) or right (Carlos Menem) throughout history. Even the founder of the movement, Juan Peron who is regarded as "leftist", found refugee in Francoist Spain...after his expulsion

Peronism is a Popular Nationalist Movement.
Obviously he is neither from the left nor from the right.
Analyzing in these "European" terms the Argentine reality does not contribute.
    Franco is mentioned.
Spanish Francoists and anti-Francoists participated in Peronism.
The so-called left-wing parties never had great popular roots. Rather, they are made up of sectors of the middle class.
They were against all popular governments and supported dictatorships. Including the worst: the National Reorganization Process from 1976 to 1983.
Besides, the great majority that is said to be on the left is quite permeable to the cultural penetration of Imperialism.
Rather, they take that position, to be away from the people, but to be able to have a "clean conscience."

If Russia can't tell HATO who can join or be partners, then HATO can't tell Russia who to be friends with either...

Hopefully Argentina strengthens security and hunkers down for the inevitable western media attack and regime change attempts that will be on their way.

The irony is that with the west putting up the sanction wall and the cold shoulder Russia has no choice but to look elsewhere for trade partners... did they think Russia would just curl up in a ball and cry?

Why gift, when they could sell them for reasonable price. To use Kh-31A/AD anti-ship missiles, they need Su-24M2, which have upgraded radar with anti-ship modes. The best choice for Argentina would be Su-30SME multirole fighters.
