The Ministry of Emergency Situations will send three planes and 200 rescuers to extinguish forest fires in Yakutia. 

Russian Emergencies Minister Yevgeny Zinichev, on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, sent three planes and a group of rescuers to Yakutia to extinguish forest fires, the ministry's press service told TASS.

"On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Emergencies Minister Yevgeny Zinichev ordered an increase in the grouping of forces and means to extinguish fires in Yakutia. In addition, two Be-200 multi-purpose amphibious aircraft and an Il-76 aircraft will be sent to the republic with rescuers from the Noginsk and Tula rescue centers of the EMERCOM of Russia in the amount of 200 people" – the press service said.

The ministry noted that the group will work in areas of Yakutia, where there is the most acute situation with fires.

Yakutia is one of the most dangerous regions in Russia. Since July 1, residents of Yakutia are prohibited from visiting forests. Since August 8, the republic has introduced a regional emergency mode in connection with the transition of forest fires in the territories of settlements and economic facilities. According to the latest data, the area of fires in the region is 1.41 million hectares. During the day, seven fires were eliminated on a total area of more than 253 thousand hectares.

The aircraft has delivered a group of virologists, infectious disease experts, doctors from the sanitary watchdog and the Russian Health Ministry and the Emergencies Ministry’s task force, as well as a mobile lab created on the basis of a KamAZ vehicle.

The sanitary watchdog said earlier that the Russian experts would carry out joint research with their South African colleagues and exchange experience in combating the coronavirus.

The flight was conducted under Russian President Vladimir Putin’s order based on South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s request.

On November 25, the South African Health Ministry announced the discovery of a new coronavirus variant. The World Health Organization (WHO) named it after the Greek letter omicron on November 26. According to the WHO, "this variant has a large number of mutations, some of which are concerning." Previously, only federal executive authorities had the right to create administrative bodies and divisions of departmental fire protection.

Sanctions have consequences. Overworked, tired firefighting pilots end up making a mistake that costs them their lives, perhaps if they had a Be-200 or 2 to share the workload with this wouldn't have happened.

Was recently watching a video where a Greek minister who said the Be-200 was wonderful and a necessary asset in dealing with fire season a few years ago more recently said the Be-200 was not suited to the Med region and was not wanted.
