Here is gun jesus shooting the PPSh-41.
He mentions controllability, but what he does not talk about is the effect of getting twice as many rounds on target in the same period of time compared with a slower shooting weapon like a Grease Gun or MP-40.
As he mentions it is very controllable because of the high rate of fire, but another factor of the high rate of fire is getting rounds on target quickly, which for a SMG is important because they are only pistol rounds of low energy..
A half second burst from an MP-40 hitting you with 4-6 rounds is not something to be sneezed at but a half second burst of 10-15 rounds from the PPSh-41 is going to kill you, because the grouping is going to be just as tight.
It is also easier to hit faster moving snap shooing targets with the high rate of fire...
