This is where the famous Ho Chi Minh trail located, where American airstrikes were constant and thousands of military truck drivers and volunteer girls sacrificed their sweat and blood to maintain the supply route from Hanoi to the revolutionary forces in the Southern Vietnam during the war. The song describes a love story betweern a military truck driver and a volunteer girl.

Due to the topography, Trường Sơn mountains have very different climate between the East side and the West side, which is described in the song.

My Village

The song was composed during the 1st Indochina War, when the author happened to hear the bell sound at a nearby village, and reminiscenced about his own village at that time was under the occupation of the French.

According to the author, during the 1980s the music was performed during the Christian ritual on Dresden (anybody here lived in Germany happened to heared that music ?)

I have always wanted to know who wrote this great piece of classical music; I just found out it was the Russian composer Tchaikovsky.  

The best part of this song starts at 3:20.  That is such an uplifting part of the song; such a great melody.  I think Tchaikovsky is probably the only Russian that is respected here in the United States and the rest of the Western World.
